    For years, I never knew the tremolo circuit came after the reverb circuit in all the classic amps, which is what causes this effect. 🧠💥

    The cool thing is, he even found this in his song license choices - this is the exact tone from Little Green Bag, except Jan Visser probably recorded that on a Teisco bass with an amp that was probably mic'd with some room, 'cos you really hear the air of the kick & snare in the room with the body of the bass tone.

    iirc that's actually a guitar pitched down an octave with a whammy pedal, but it does have this like cruchy transient sound (esp in the intro where it's telephone-ified) that gives a similar dusty vibey feeling

    My favourite Tarantino bassline is Bullwinkle part 2 by The Centurions. Travolta spaced out of his mind in his car with this tune on the radio. I love that shit since 1994 :-)

    The Princeton Reverb is the amp for this sound. The tremolo oscillates the power tubes, applying the effect to the output of the entire amp, including the reverb. Most other Fenders apply the tremolo to the volume pot on the vibrato channel before the reverb.

    Listen to Julee Cruise’s album Floating into the night. She had a single on one of Twin Peaks movies / shows. Get a super nice vibe like Ian’s bass 😁

    Hollowbody basses sound quite different to solid bodies! Hofner vs P bass for example!
