LSV I know you’re busy but quick little videos displaying your cube updates and the reasoning behind them would be amazing! I love your daily cube gameplay but the theory/strategy/cube construction discussions are just as interesting, at least to me! I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that! Thanks for all the great content!

Given how people rampantly steal on YT I'm surprised a fan editor hasn't chopped the runaway draw/kitten combos, exciting plays, and the tough draft picks into shorts. There's enough to mine in this channel for years. Perhaps LSV Jr will inherit it?

Just here to say that you are truly amazing at what you do. Hearing you narrate your thought process throughout these draft videos is something that I always look forward to and keeps me engaged for the entirety of these 1 to 1 and a half hour videos. Congrats

1:14:48 I think you have lethal here. You know his hand from last turn, so you can’t be disrupted. Play land, play Unruly Krasis, Play Grist, Sac UK to Grist to clear the spellseeker, attack with both creatures, make a clue, then sac the clue with Elvish Spirit Guide to copy Unruly Krasis for the win.

Watching this and remembering how much LSV used to love "Oracle of Muli Duli" and seeing him basically ignore it with so few cards in the packs just tells me how much things have changed in the format.

I have to say I also love the videos where you loose a bunch. Not to see you tilted, as you rarely are, but just to also see the sheer high-level skill of your opponents. In the normal normal MTGO queue you might have 3-0ed with this deck easily. But with these tough opponents it's much more enjoyable to see the maneuvering and strategizing. Also your predictions are much more spot on with them, then randos on MTGO.

It does, but Lazav’s effect only copies until EoT, so he would not have reach on the opponent’s turn. That was why LSV said they needed another clue to crack, to turn it back into the Ent during opponent’s turn.

I just don't see how you can know you're keeping a card from the other team and not your own team. Unless I missed that he established the person he would pass Fury to was drafting red, but even still it's possible to be wrong. I'm sure this is just example #5229 of why I'm not an MtG pro, but it'll never not be weird to me to hate draft in instance where you could have had a good card for your own deck.

  • @dementievatz

I’m not a pro either, but I think the math leading to a blind hate pick is something like: Is there a card in this pack that I strongly want to put in my deck? (No) Is the card I hate draft strong enough compared to the rest of the pack that the opponent is very likely to take it? (Yes) You rarely see it early in packs because the answer to the first question is almost always yes. But the Fury pack was pretty unexciting. I’m not sure whether it was the right choice though.

there’s a lot of subtlety going on there and i don’t get most of it either but the most basic level is that you have more opponents then teammates so if it hurts a random person that’s not you it’s more likely to hurt the other team

I'm probably the minority but I'm over the initiative mechanic. It seems like the population of drafters must feel otherwise because this cube just keeps adding more initiative cards. The mechanic just feels like such a snowball machine.

It forces interesting combat situations and it also forces the game to an end. It's a nice way to make more creature heavy decks relevant.

It forces people to try and attack each other or suffer the consequences. It's also a strong mechanic in general, and vintage cube is all about putting the strongest mechanics and cards together in one place

Was going to reply with more but realized I would be echoing the other commenters. Ending the game is good and making combat relevant is good. Opens many more strategies than it closes.

I think I’m in both camps. I agree it probably should be in the cube as it opens up more creature decks and interesting combat but the mechanic itself is just not exciting to justify it sticking around for multiple turns. Each floor of the dungeon by themselves is kinda meh except for the last one but the game usually ends if you can -5 your opponent.
