Hey guys! If it wasn't obvious, at 9:59 is a clip of my cousins in New York playing Street Fighter 2 at a family gathering. Just wanted to clear up any confusion. I hope y'all enjoyed this story. This series has meant a lot to me in my life, as I'm sure it has for many of you. Happy Street Fighter 6 launch day!

Why are comments off in some of your videos? You are also so lucky your dad had a video8 camera the footage wouldnt look as nice if he went with vhs c or eveb vhs as those were mono and 2 heads. Video 8 could also fit 120 mins in sp mode were vhs c could not I have one birthday party tape of the 90s i should put it online.

Kids these days don't appreciate ANYTHING. It's all been done, there no evolution or growth, literally everything has peaked. The PS5 is showing that as its not exciting at all compared to the last 4 consoles. Stagnation of tech is occurring: graphics look real, sound is digital, multilayer is 100s of people, there's VR, games are better than films. This gen aren't easily pleased. I remember thinking Ridge Racer 1 looked real 😂😂😂

To me, Street Fighter 2 is a reminder of a time when gaming MEANT SOMETHING! Modern gaming is largely soulless, bullies you into downloading update after update, not to mention all those in-crap purchases and games being released unfinished! If I had a kid, I’d rather let him or her play Custer’s Revenge than Candy Crush! That is how bad modern gaming has gotten! I even skipped the PS4 and only got an Xbox One because my Jasper 360 RRODed and my Mom insisted I did, instead of letting me just get an Xbox 360 E in the blink of an eye! It’s really sad when your parents don’t appreciate classic tech as much as you do! A lot of modern tech is one step forward four steps backwards!

This video hit hard. I lived through this EXACT experience as well and I can't even express the impact SF2 had on me as a child and gamer.
Street Fighter 2 Turbo was my first home version of SF2 I got in 1993 and I loved it. The idea that there was so much replayability was amazing such as seeing the ending for each of the characters but different difficulty with different endings. There was even a special ending if you win at level 8 with no continuing and even one for never losing a round.
I remember my mum buying this for me when I was 12 for £65 in the UK, which in today’s money would be $167 USD. God bless ya mum! And God bless my father who bought Turbo for me on a Friday and let me skip school that day so I could play for the whole weekend!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

This whole video is literally summarized my childhood 😢 Hours and hours sitting on the floor with friends after school to master our moves and then head back to the arcade saloon to show off 😅 I just can't explain that feeling, everybody seemed happier. Life seemed easier and lighter than today. My 3 essential toys for being a cool kid those days: 1. My super nintendo 2. My walkman and mixtapes and 3. My bike 🥲
I discovered your channel few weeks ago and it instantly became one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your memories and passion with us!
I borrowed SF2 from a friend at school when I was in grade 6. I played it so much during the two weeks I had it that the tendons in my inside forearms were sore from smashing the L and R buttons for heavy attacks. What a revolutionary game.
My uncle had this on snes, I just couldn’t believe I had this game at home. I stood in line for this game at the arcade. Still my favorite game of all time. Don’t know if I like the 6 button genesis version or snes better. Best fighting game of all time.

Street Fighter II and its updates are one of my favorite arcade games of the 1990s. It even started a trend in other fighting games such as Tekken, Virtua Fighter, and Mortal Kombat.
Back in the days where if you wanted to play with a friend, you actually had to go to their house. Nowadays, it’s all online, which takes away that classic experience
I remember it like yesterday. This was the first 16MB cartridge for the SNES and the 16-bit era. Cramming all those sprites and fast action took every ounce of processing power the SNES had. The port over was superbly done and would not have been possible had it not been for the SNES’s ability to display 128 sprites simultaneously on screen and the huge 32000 color pallet to choose from and display 256 at a time on screen. Except for small sacrifices on stage background and moving parts on stage due to system limits, the port was great. Some frames were also sacrificed. But overall, it was a monumental achievement both for Capcom and the big N. For us kids, not having to pump quarters into machines and coming over to each other’s houses for 10 hour SF2 marathons was the best part! The golden era of gaming never to be repeated.
Dude. I love your dad. Awesome trip down memory lane!
My dad used to rent the SNES system for me and my brother at a video store in Woodlake, CA and it came with a game. We would get SF 2 every weekend. It cost 9.99 plus tax for Sat and Sunday. It was 10.73 after taxes. Magical moments... 💪
My brother and cousin would ride our bikes down to our local grocery store just to play this game. We loved this game!!!! I remember trying to rent this from the video store and it was never there. one day finally we were able to rent it and man it was amazing seeing this game on home console. such good times. Even today the Super nintendo is my favorite console. such great memories
I had my SNES in 1993 and I keep it until today. :) For months I was the only kid in the neighbour with a SNES and every night a lot of boys went to my house to play every that we found at our reach. Those times were magical and they'll never be lived again. Beautiful video. Regards from Brazil.
Seeing this brings back so many memories. The hours of friends just sitting around glued to the Sony trinitron TV playing. That is why my kids are starting their gaming experience with NES and 8bit systems. They will eventually make it to 16bit and so on.
The Street Fighter II hype was indeed inexpressibly huge. What a time. For me it was SF2 Special Champion Edition on the Megadrive over here in Britain. That and two six-button joypads were my Christmas present that year. So hyped - and it did not disappoint. I had a mate with a SNES and SF2 too, so I do also have huge nostalgia for that. Great video ❤
Got it for Christmas 1992, I was 14 years old, one of the best times of my life. The build up to that day was magical.
Me and my dad had a difficult relationship but for some reason sf2 was something that actually would bring us together for a bit. I remember teaching him attack moves on my snes and he would brag to random kids at the arcade about how good his son was. He’s been gone almost 25 years but i’ll always remember him
I’ll never forget the Friday morning my mom bought this for us…we were waiting by the living room window for her and a coworker she was riding with to come home hoping for a glimpse of the Toys R Us bag. We were sad at first when we didn’t see any bag but after a little while she pulled that bag with Street Fighter 2 out and we played for hours. I miss those times
Thank you for this nostalgic trip down memory lane. I'm 39 and vividly remember playing Street fighter 2 and MK 2 on Snes with my brother and friends.
I remember when it came out for super Nintendo. My friend up the street had it . We would go ti his house to play it all the time. Then my dad got me street fighter 👍 the good old days
I’m a massive SF2 since the arcade days. Our local corner shop had queues outside just to play the game. I remember sitting on the bus looking through the instructions after purchasing on the SNES,I was so excited to go home and play it with my friends! I would still fire up the SNES now and again for a blast on this game…then the memories all come flooding back!
I remember people putting quarters upfront on the dashboard to challenge the winner! Arcades were fun!
This hit home watching this, i remember getting The Super Nintendo for Christmas '92 i was allowed to actually have my friend come round on Christmas day to play it, all sense of time disappears, it gets dark outside and we are still playing, thanks for the memory 😎
I miss this whole experience with my brothers. Playing games in the arcade and home. Rip Chris,Gary 😢.
Bro I use to play this is in the arcade down the block from my house at the video store with my friends EVERY SINGLE DAY… When I went to my friends house one day and saw him playing it on Super Nintendo my jaw hit the floor, at the time I only had sega genesis and it was not available for genesis and I was so upset, I begged my dad to get me a Super Nintendo that Christmas and he said no cause he had just bought me the genesis, but that Christmas came around and sure enough under the tree was a wrapped up Super Nintendo and street fighter 2 right next to it….. BEST CHRISTMAS of my life lol I was 11 or 12 years old at the time
I was 16 in 1991 so I am older. But watching this brought me back. I had the Sega Genesis version and played it all day.
The summer of ‘92 is when the Super NES really started to go on a tear with SF2, Turtles In Time, Super Adventure Island, and many others.
I was a HUGE Sega Genesis fan back in the console war days. I was in 4th grade & I was home sick with the chicken pox. My mom went out to the store & returned with a brand new Super Nintendo. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her holding the box. Street Fighter II was one of the 1st games I had for the SNES. It was incredible & still is to this day! I remember going to the Arcade & playing this game over & over. Capcom nailed it & brought us a masterpiece to our living rooms. Awesome video Tyler! It brings back so many forgotten memories from a bygone era….
I will never forget the Christmas I got a SNES and Street Fighter 2! One of the best Memories ever!! Thank You Mom 🙏🏽❤

I had come to the states in August of 92 (Age 18). My first exposure to the SNES was in 93 to games like Street Fighter and JRPG's. I really miss those nostalgic days, there's not much nowadays that triggers those kinds of feelings, or experiences that you carry for the rest of your life. Thanks for sharing this. So glad I found your channel.
My first experience with this game was in 1993, there was a gallery close to my home when someone opened a Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis rental stand. When i saw a group of guys playing Street Fighter 2 on SNES and I heard voices like Hadoken o Shoryuken coming out from the tv omg those voices are still in my head to this days. It was a total revelation for me. I was trapped since the first second. I had to wait several days until i could finally put my hands on it. The emotion I felt that day was so overwhelmed, it was love at first sight. It was so fun so real so exciting, nothing in my young life was so important than to be playing it and hearing the fantastic music, voices and charisma of that game. It was a total mind-blowing situation. I will never forget that day. I still play Street Fighter 2 to this day in a much more competitive way but nothing can surpass my first days with it. That feeling will remain in my mind and my heart forever. I was really touched by you video. Thank you.
Street Fighter 2 on the SNES was the game of choice during my Army days at Ft. Stewart, GA and as soon as you lost, you passed the controller to the next guy and the winner kept playing. We played this game for hours like this.
man i was like a street fighter 2 addict at arcades in the 90s
The nostalgia watching this video, I'm 41 and I was right in the middle of this, I remember my uncle buying the game, fun times
I was 7 in July 92, and yes... everything you said resembles my childhood. Very fond memories with these games.
I needed this. I was 4 years old nearly 5. My mother cleaned houses and preschool wasn't really a thing back in our day so I went with her. My favorite house was the one with the super nintendo and I would sit there and play street fighter II for hours. Mom passed when i was 15 so I'm grateful for this video and the recollection of the fond memory. Thanks, buddy
What a nice memory, such a testimony of an amazing time! I remember the first time I played Street Fighter 2, was in my grandmothers friends house, her son have a copy for the SNES, I remember loosing a lot to him! Such a great time! Cheers from Brazil!
Seeing Strret FIghter 2 at my local Movie theater for the first time was a mind boggling experience and I was probably about 14 or 15 yers old. There was just nothing like it. The sprites were huge, the amount of buttons seemed daunting, the layers of mechanics.....it was just a whole new world.
I’ll always remember bugging my parents to call our local Toys R Us to see if Street Fighter 2 was in yet. It was and so we made that 30 minute drive to the Flint area Toys R Us. I remember being so excited and searching for the game in the isles, but having no luck. At first I thought maybe they sold out already. It turns out they hadn’t even had time to put up those blue tags yet, but they sold us one fresh from a case of cartridges. I was one of and maybe even the first person to get one. Easily one of my favorite gaming memories as a kid. Lots of memories playing the arcade version at local party store that my dad would take me too almost everyday after school. I miss you dad. ❤
Man, those memories of yours seem to me like a very happy time for a kid in the 90's. You're lucky!! Save those memories!!
I miss my childhood back in the 90s Super Mario, Street Fighter 2, Super Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2 and so many more. I still play video games even till now, and my nephew who is now 10 years old plays video games as well. He was 8 years old when he got hooked on to Diablo 3
The SFII home ports since SNES to GENESIS (and others of course) were THE dream come true... an unforgetten era... thanks for sharing your memories.
it was an unbelievable time. My brother got us a copy I was 18 in my last year of high school and it was an amazing port. I am still beyond grateful to Capcom for such an amazingly faithful port. We killed hours and hours on Street Fighter II I worked at an entertainment center called FunPlex in Littleton and we played there tons to. Some of my best years spent working and playing games at FunPlex.
The first time I played Street Fighter 2 was on an arcade machine in a restaurant, and I chose Chun Li, Street Fighter 2 was pure magic at the time and I still love it
my cousin had a SNES when i was like 5 years old, he was like 18-20 years old at the time, id go over to his house during each summer and he taught me how to play SF2. I've been addicted to SF ever since, pretty lucky to have an older cousin that liked to hang with me and teach me all about video games.
I remember getting it on launch day on the SNES, I was nine years old and stayed on that game with my older brother, cousins and friends that lived up the street. We use to have tournaments lol. This video is a treasure that you can see from years on 👍🏾
Still remember the first time I saw Street Fighter II. The 7-Eleven up the street from me had it and I was in 4th grade. My dad usually gave me a few quarters when we stopped off there and I was immediately hooked. Even my DAD thought the game was cool and played some. Ended up getting the SNES version from my aunt when I was recovering from surgery in early '93.
Yep! I remember my Dad bought me this for my birthday when we couldn’t find ‘Pit Fighter’ on the Gameboy. OMG it changed my life - for the better and for the worse haha. Until today, still addicted to Street Fighter.
Man your videos always get me tearing up. Thank you so much for sharing! Reminds me of my childhood so much.
Having Street Fighter at home was indeed quite the luxury. I remember feeling that when I finally got Street Fighter Alpha 2 on PlayStation. I know exactly how you feel. Now we have Street Fighter 6 out now, and good times are gonna be had.
I watched the games master tv show in the UK and they played street fighter 2 on the snes , by that weekend a Super Nintendo & a copy of the game were in my bedroom. Looking back now street fighter 2 at home was probably the first game I remember that sounded the beginning of the end for arcades as it looked and played so well.
