The Kamado Joe rivals the Big Green Egg in many ways, check out why we picked the Kamado Joe over the BGE:
Side note: we also can't wait for the iKamand to come out. We'll be sure to scoop one up and review it when the iKamand is released.

I think your video was more helpful because you wrote down what you wanted to cover. So many of the contributors for BBQing just talk in random, distracted circles. They're a waste of time. Yours was very helpful. Great work!

Getting a classic 2 next week, any tips on breaking in the grill? My wife wants brisket, but said I need a couple cooks of maybe burgers to figure it out first.

Just got my new Classic II assembled yesterday. Tried to do the initial burn, but couldn’t get the temp above 450°. Charcoal basket was half full. I’m hoping famine my vents were set wrong. Everything else seems to be fine with it.

I think the KJ max temp is 750F and you went above 850F. That is probably what cracked your plate.

Great review. The Kamado has been the best bbq I’ve owned but I’ve had a couple of issues which is unfortunate. I’ve had two deflector plates crack on me, so this seems to be a common issue with the BBQ’s. The biggest issue I’ve had with mine has been the gasket seal. Mine has come off three times (top and bottom) in its two year life. As I live in Australia, I sadly can’t deal directly with Kamado Joe warranty and I have to go through the retail chain I purchased from. They’ve been helpful so far with fixing both issues, but the seal has been very frustrating.

I love the name of the channel, that's my motto too. Thanks for the heads up on registering. I just got mine today. When I looked at the deflector plate, I thought to myself, that is not going to last. Its a lot cheaper than the one that comes with my BGE.

Kamado Joe has more bang for the buck I believe but the BGE has a bit more "polish" to it, at least to mine. I think the deflector with the Joe is like one of those old ceramic pizza stones you used to be able to buy at Walmart in the 90's. However, the hinge on the Joe is much better. I do like the top cap better as well compared to the BGE. Overall, I think the Kamado Joe is probably the better buy, but let me see in a year toif it holds up.

Agree with the burping of the Kamado. I have a green egg and burned all the hair from my hands with burping alone, imagine what happens when you open it fully. Especially when you burp it and smoke comes out the opening, wait with opening it further. Another tip I could add is to lower temp is by opening the grill for a couple seconds. It let's all the hot air escape and adds cold air. Don't do it too long

Hot tip, never trust a thermo that is not a GOOD digital thermo regardless of how good you calibrate it. Themo's on grills, smokers etc are for looks only.
