For this random guy a year later, thank you for this video 🙏
i can't thank you enough for this video, the donut tutorial just wasn't cutting it . i got to episode eleven before i realized i didn't even remember what i learned in episode two , despite the fact i was closely following along the entire way through , and that was partly the issue , i was just following along . i tried restarting and even taking notes like it was an actual class , but then that just took the fun out of it , so now i'm watching this video as a refresher , and it's helping me out so much more than the donut tutorial did not to hate on the donut tutorial , but this is just so amazingly better for people in my position where even though they followed the tutorial and made the donut , they were basically just copying the work he was doing . thank you a million times over dude

I'm halfway through this tutorial right now and I gotta say, I think I'm doing a pretty good job following this video. Although, I had trouble figuring out the camera controls and shortcuts, the PDF was just simply a life saver! I didn't quite get 100% of what he's making, but at least it looks a little bit close to the original thing! I am learning little by little..
after ages of wanting to learn 3d i got started with this tutorial and learned the ropes pretty quickly! the donut tutorial was always a little unclear to me and i felt like it didn't teach much, so i'm going through a bunch of your tutorials. so far it's been great!
You are the 3D Saint for creating this video! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this community.
Thanks for the video. You showed a lot that others skipped over, mainly with the very basic stuff that most assume is widely known or something. Also all of the time you repeated the shortcuts really helped them stick a bit better. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos on blender
2 minutes in and you have already provided so much more information than so many others. And you have done it in such an easy to understand way. Your organization is absolute top tier! Thank you so much for making this! As a viewer I can clearly tell how seriously you take this and also how much you love making these videos. P.S. The cheat sheet is a god-send. I am very overwhelmed by all the shortcuts in Blender. You have no idea how nice it is to have someone make a shortcut cheat sheet for you.
best tutorial, i can never focus on the donut tutorial, but for some reason i was 100% focused here, it was fun lol
I highly recommend anyone new to Blender to go into Edit -> Preferences -> Navigation, and under orbit & pan, tick on depth next to auto. This will let you scroll in as much as you want and won't slow down the zoom.
Finally a beginners tutorial I can actually follow, thank you so so much for saying what keys each shortcut you use, this makes a huge difference to a complete novice like me
I thoroughly the effort you've put in there! There is only one thing I would suggest is that you get "Power toys" for windows, and use the cursor finder while filming stuff like this. Double tap CTRL to highlight the mouse
I love the perspective shifting hallway that smoothly transitioned to the viewport. Amazing stuff!
This tutorial was so detailed! It's my first time using blender in over 10 years and with all the new features and upgrades I was so insanely overwhelmed. But this video made it so much easier to re-learn everything I had lost. I made a post with my render on the discord and am hopping into the next tutorial now!
An absolutely fantastic tutorial. I feel so much more confident opening up blender. I might not be able to recreate a masterpiece like this in an hour, but with practice I'll get there. Thank you so much for this amazing content!
SO just fyi, if one is learning blender via tutorial and switching between the video and the software on different screens and then forgets to click into blender again before pressing 1 to look front on, they will be taken straight to 6.25 and immediately jump-scared by Suzanne the Monkey overlaid with a scream. 😂 Theoretically... Totally didn't happen to me many.. many times. 😅 In all seriousness though! This tutorial was amazing and so very helpful! I am so thankful for finding you. I've tried a couple of times over the years to start learning blender after playing around in DAZ Studio for years and wishing I could make my own meshes but this is definitively the farthest I've ever gotten and I am so proud of my little low poly scene. 🥰 I'm nearly finished the second vid in the series but stuck on the bike. I'm going to move on to geometry nodes for a bit and come back to it with fresh eyes. Thank you so so much for taking the time to make these amazing, informative tutorials! ❤

Also just want to say that as a beginner, the shortcuts are so overwhelming so I really really appreciate that you repeat them every single time because it becomes somewhat of a mantra and makes it easier to learn. Shift A, mesh, cube, tab edit mode, G Z 1, tab object mode, scale it down. Pretty sure most of that is from the second tutorial. But I will remember it and probably think it every time I add a new mesh to the viewport for a long time to come. 😂
Incredible content. Want to start doing this and your videos are just amazing. Thanks for taking the time to create them. Really easy to follow and clear.
Great tutorial! One of my fav youtubers when it comes to blender/3d content. Cant wait to see the next tutorial !
Excellent introduction to Blender's tool set, looking forward to going through the rest of your videos. Thanks!
This videos is EXTREMELY comprehensive and I absolutely love it!! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this and uploading it so all us plebs can learn how to 3D model stuff! I've just barely gotten started, but already I'm loving how explanatory you are with everything and how easy you make the navigation sound. I don't feel so hopeless with you helping me along this Blender journey!
Such an excellent video, well paced to watch through once for an overview and then go back as needed and slow down. Brilliant work.
thank you, not only was educational, it was funny too!! I love your character! he's too cute!!
What a fantastic tutorial! Thank you for such detailed and thoughtful instructions and information 👍🙏
Yesss! I don’t need the basics, but I adore how you simplify technical stuff like geometry nodes and rigging. So I’ll absolutely be recommending you to everyone wanting to get started now with Blender in general like I already recommend you for geometry nodes! 😁
Bloody hell this was fun ! Learned so much. Hardest part, was to figure out and get used to camera movement and I accidentally without knowing in the beginning moved 3d cursor... Which only made things harder until further on reaching clear explanation about pivot points lol. Thank you o/
WOW ! A beginner tutorial that's actually for beginners. Thank you. I just started Blender 4 and have looked at so many "beginner tutorials" and it's clear that they are not remembering how it was when they were beginner's. You have helped me understand how things work and I can actually follow along because you are explaining everything you are doing and we don't have to figure out what you did.. thank you.
Amazing tutorial. I've been around the youtube block for some time now, and the potential for this channel is insane. Keep it up!
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I'm trying out 3d animation and no other tutorials help. This one is long yes, but it covers everything and genuinely explains it well. Idk how some people try to explain it within a 15 minute video. This helped me a lot.
Thank you so much, I've learned so much and enjoyed the video and the learning, I did struggle with the well and the size of the bricks. if anyone else is having trouble with that I have these measurements: X =0.35m Y =0.2m Z =0.23m
This was a great refresher after not using Blender for a long time, thank you!
Thank you for the video!!! It rocks!!! Feel like a very solid foundation!!
this is gonna help so many people. good luck to everyone trying to learn blender!
I really appreciate you making these videos I'm new to blender I wouldn't have never have figured this out on my own so thanks😁
Great Video. Was a pleasure to follow along and really easy to comprehend.
thank you so much! I enjoyed every second of this and learned so much

Thanks for telling me not to get overwhelmed. I'm sitting here going man, it's great to have all the keybinds for m/kb, m, emulated configs, but man is it a lot😅. Great video! Thank you

You deserve so much more subs Joey. Keep grinding!
ok this vid is actually super good for beginners beginners
I've just started learning blender by watching tutorials for beginner on KZread. You explain things so clearly and very easy to follow. Definitely helped a lot. Thank you so much!
thank you for reminding me to save!
Joey, I thought I should point out that the "F9" hotkey is not a "construction history" but a "last action" meaning if you click on the object after fiddling around with other objects or even moving the object "F9" won't allow you to define the parameters again. I spent hours watching and rewatching the video trying to get back to the parameters with "F9". i thought my keyboard was broken. so I tried that hotkey on three different keyboards. googled and searched what was going on and found what happened. I still love the tutorial, don't take this as a criticism in ANYWAY. I still don't understand the workings of Blender to even suggest if a construction history would even work much less make a suggestion for a cool addon that would allow you to reconfigure the parameters way after the fact, but it would be awesome if it were possible.😁

Thanks!
Amazing vid thanks so so much
6 minutes in and im already liking the pace of this video lol
Great video
in all honesty this video helped so much but im now learning blender is so complicated due to the many different ways to do the simplest things lmao
great video, absolutely love it !! but i cant tell you the times that I pressed 1 to view from the front only to notice i was in my browser window on my second monitor and the whole video just jumps back to 6:25 😂 and the sound effect at that point in the video perfectly describes my feelings lol was that on purpose?
OMG! I absolutely love the way you teach. you have a wonderful style that helps beginners like me feel at ease. i've been trying to get going on the more complex modeling but always get stuck on the simple stuff like user interface and how the heck do i find the "fill-in-the-blank" because other tutorials assume the user somehow intuitively knows where stuff is and how to get back to things just opened up? I usually spend more time trying to find the cube i just made and how to center it on the screen before i just give up and walk away. thanks for understanding that and showing the little frustrating things and anticipating that beginners can get lost and overwhelmed. i almost wish that blender would have a tab just for beginners and progressively add tabs as you learn new skills. and I simply love your avatar! so cute. please keep teaching and, i haven't checked, but do u do a video on how you made the avatar?
@JoeyCarlino

31:00 The cylinder triangle shows the Z axis sideways after rotation.
I love the flapjack scream. 😱
Help. Hi and thank you again for this great vid. For some reason the things i parent show the black lines to the parented item but when i click on the parent the click G to move it, only 1 item moves and the rest stay behind. as i move it i can see the black lines connected to all the items i parented to the item im moving. Can you tell me what im doing wrong?
Ur my hero
So I'm at roughly the 37:30 mark and when making the water for the well, I thought I would download some PBR materials and turned em on in the addons menu - when I put the texture onto the cylinder, _everything_ else vanished and refuses to come back (I've hit all the H shortcuts, checked the eyeballs off and on, changed views with the number pad, switched back and forth between object and edit mode, switched to material mode and back... Nothing is working to bring all my objects back 😢
I might not be the most smart person when it comes to blender but i gotta be honest, i need to start doing simple stuff like this instead of wanting to do models for animations

You, kind sir, are a true professional! Many thanks for your effort
i was doing the fence but the origin point takes all of the 8 points of the cube and the propotiona editing doesn't work maybe i have a different setting on my laptop idk
time to watch this again
Love the mini youtube tutorial in the blender tutorial lol
did everything to a t and my final render had both the houses very distorted. Im very confused on what to do next because everything else looks fine except the houses. Please help😥
Thankyou
‘Period’, or ‘full stop’ as we say in English, does not centre the highlighted object you say it does. Instead, it brings up a rotational menu. Also, letting go and reclicking the Shift key seems to require you to also let go of the middle mouse button. I tested my keyboard on Sketchup and there’s nothing wrong with my keyboard. Does Blender have some kind of Accessibility-style sticky keys turned on by default, because this will get really tiring, really quick.
I have to keep hitting shift+space before hitting G, R, etc. Is there anyway to not have to do that? it's very annoying.

Hello there! 😀 I am following this tutorial on Blender 2.83.5 on MX Linux (installed with *sudo apt install blender*) - and I am stuck on 23:40 The proportional editing does not work for me. When I click on this icon, followed by pressing S and increasing the size of the top cone, *only* the top cone changes in size. When I select the proportional editing icon by the shortcut "O" and then press S to change the size of the top cone, it's the same thing. The top cone change in size and the other cones don't. It doesn't matter whether the proportional editing icon is selected with the smooth option, linear option, ball option etcetera. Only the top cone changes its size. What am I doing wrong?
@markwiering

I have figured it out. Apparently, the circle of influence plays a role. I made this circle bigger when scrolling my mouse - and now the proportional editing works again! 😀
