Today I'm doing a deep dive in to what you need to do to get ready for bed in a VW California T6.1 campervan. We get asked a lot of questions here at the VW Commercial Vehicle showroom in Liverpool, and a lot of them involve bedtime routine in the California models.
I'll cover getting all the blinds in place, so you have complete privacy, putting the bed down, lighting and importantly SECURITY. This is well worth a watch if you're considering buying a new or used California model, or maybe even if you've been using a California for years!

T6 océan: i always use the remote to lock. The alarm has never gone off. Those little t6.1 upgrades sure are nice !!

Hi Chris, we are now away in our 2019 California and the gas won't work. Full bottle (CHECKED) The forums say a common problem with the Gok valve safety crash cut off, but no way to reset. £60k van 4th trip away and no gas not so good VW. Any ideas on a quick fix or is it a warranty repair. Thanks great channel.

? Do you know Chris where in the southwest of England can I buy one from ? 50 mile radius of Exeter. Great Video so informative and very helpful. At present I have the VW 20 allspace Tiguan, The rear seats look exactly the same ? do you know if they are the same.

The window blinds are neat but that front windscreen one is an awful contraption, it’s like a prototype that they forget to develop to a finished product!

It's pretty simple to use, and it hides away nicely when not in use, but I have seen people who have third party windscreen covers that fit on the outside and then tuck in the doors.

How far can the rear seat come back when the rear shelf is out. I just got an new California Ocean. But the rear seat does not go all the way to the end of the runners.
Thanks Chris. What about setting the alarm when you turn in for the night or when the dogs is left in the van, whilst you shop?

isn't it just a double tap on the remote?
When locking from the inside, I’ve always used the remote but only after deactivating the alarm by pressing the button on the inside of the driver’s side B pillar with the driver’s front door open.

How do you lock a dog in the vehicle (on a ferry for example) without the alarm going off?

I think you can disable the alarm with a button on the A pillar(the pillar just behind the driver seat)
