Not worth it...the process of using heat to infuse the chemicals is awful...that smoke inhaled feels terrible...my eyes and throat was on fire the whole time.

Don’t be scared to relax your hair at home a good tip is to relax your hair in 2 parts first relax the back of your hair wash out the relaxer and everything and then do the front and repeat the process that’s how I been doing it and it’s amazing so you don’t over process your hair since you have very thick hair ❤

I think u should relax your hair every 3 months as your hair gets thicker. I kinda got worried when your stylist was “struggling” with detangling your hair AFTER it got relaxed. I don’t think that should happen (in my opinion and by experience.) I always followed hairlicous methods since my “healthy” relaxed hair journey last July. I use affirm relaxer and it’s been my staple. it makes me feel “safe” because it’s a step by step by step guide and it’s a moisturize based system too. (My hair is naturally dry) Then I use ORS orange replenishing conditioner because it has a little bit of protein in it and lots of moisture - I sit under the dryer for about 25 minutes then wash I use a scalp treatment on my hair before my stylist uses my heat protectant and puts rollers in my hair and then I’m done. I just take care of it after before my next wash. As for the protein treatment, I come back to the salon after two weeks and use my 2 minute aphogee and then deep condition and wash with Keracare products. Overall hair feels amazing every time I have relaxer day and in general wash days, thanks to hairlicious hair regimen. I also just started using olaplex 3 after following the last step of the affirm system too. I make sure to trim every 2 or 2 and a half months I just wanted to share my experience with you ❤ please don’t take it too personally! 🤞🏾

I think it's really smart to do horizontal and then vertical. Ref keratin, I get what's called a quick keratin, which just means it washes out faster than a regular keratin treatment. My stylist recommended it because I was getting the olaplex service, and she said the quick keratin had the same benefits plus more. So far, I really love it. I haven't had to do dedicated protein treatments since, and it also makes my semi permanent hair color last longer. Your hair looks so good, Cassy. You're doing a great job. When I self relaxed, I used the hairlicious method, and it worked well. The only issue I had was that I had to be careful of where I started my twist because sometimes I would start to far up, and it resulted in some sections not getting completely relaxed. 💜

  • @CassysHairCare

My concern with the vertical/horizontal method extra tangling of the hair. The amount of heat used with the keratin treatment scares me. If I finally decide to relax my hair I would totally use the hairlicious method. Thank you my dear! 💞.

  • @kalishajnz

    @kalishajnz

@CassysHairCare Being that I get the quick keratin, there's not as much heat used. My stylist puts it on wet hair then blow dries and flat irons as usual without all of the extra heat passes but being that you don't use a lot of heat I can understand being scared of it. So far, though, I haven't had any issues. The keratin washes out after 6-8 weeks, and I stretch for 16 weeks, so I'm only getting the service about 3 times a year. 💜

The front of your hair was relaxed too early. Your edges should be the absolute last to be coated. Also applying with the comb looked slow and awkward. You should not be burning and application should not take an hour. Brushing the ends like that when wet is triggering me, that snaps my hair and it ends up broken. Her methos of roller setting is why you have those bumps on the roots, she needs to put the rollers on base and apply steady tension so that the hair straightens on the roller. You should also not try to relax it your self. She should be willing to follow whatever process you ask her to as long as it is not dangerous or damaging. Hair changes as you age and it will change a lot more times. My hair in the last 5 years has become a lot more loose and this year I hit lower back and it takes a lot to relax and wash but I love it so I will continue to grow it as long as it is healthy. Finally consider changing to a lye relaxer I love Mizani but I have seen Affirm or Precis give great results.

Thank youuuuuuu so much for all of these tips. The detangling process at the hair salon is definitely not my favorite. Most of my hair breakage usually happens at that time. I've heard great things about the Affirm relaxer. I'm still debating on my next step when it comes to my next relaxer.

Hiiii, yes you can try the pre parting method. You should base your scalp whether you are using a lye relaxer or not. Affirm is pretty good option as well as ORS. My stylist would usually apply the relaxer horizontally then go back in vertically. I hope you find something that works for you😊

I worry of a set back. I have to agree with the previous comment, it worries me that the hair got tangled or matted after a relaxer … I’m also very new to this, and I have been doing my hair little over a year. I’m still learning how to take good care of my hair, hasn’t been easy at all.. but I have not experienced tangled or burnt yet on relaxer day, thank goodness. I also pre parted always. I do use affirm relaxer as well. I trust you will come up with a good solution to this. Again thank you for sharing ❤ I always learn so much from you! You got this 💗

Hey Cassy girl!! Oh wow, wow, wow. Your hair tho. So thick! So thick that it’s getting more difficult to manage on your relaxer days!! I’m so sorry to hear that. I only wish the best for you because you take such great care of your hair. But I guess that’s a good problem tho, cuz that means your hair is THRIVING! You got the thick hair on lock! Not to mention the length. I’m sorry that you are feeling like you don’t know what to do with your hair right now. I’m sorry that you feel like you don’t want to bother the stylist with more requests like the pre parting. And I’m SO sorry that the relaxer had to be in for that long! It came out so beautifully regardless! You are a champ for using minimal heat on relaxer day!! 😂 I’m over here doing the exact opposite! It might take a long time but your hair always looks so amazing and healthy. I think that you should just keep doing what you do cuz you got it going on. Maybe not stretch so long? That’s the only thing I would suggest. Then maybe the new growth won’t be so hard to get trough. Definitely the Hairlicious method if you decide to do it on your own. I did great with that when I did it myself. I also had my sister to help too, but I was able to do it on my own when she wasn’t around as well. And about that Keratin treatment…girl…to me…personally…nothing beats a fresh relaxer 😂 Maybe in the long run I might change my mind but I feel you on not using so much heat. You already don’t even flat iron your hair at the salon so that would be a MAJOR change for you. I feel like if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. You got GORGEOUS THICK LONG relaxed hair. I love it so much!! But whatever you decide to do, I’m along for the ride!! Love you girl!! 💕Dani x Naturally Relaxed

Awwww Dani, thank you so much for your kind words hun ❤️. Yes, you are right, I don't think I'm ready for all of the heat that comes with keratin treatments. Affirm will give you better results. Affirm also offers the " special" this is the one I use no burning made for coarse hair. Silk elements also has the same type made for coarse hair without burning both have excellent products to support a healthy hair journey. Please find a stylist that knows how to do onbase roller sets wich eliminate the need for blowdrying your roots. I have the same texture length and thickness as you. Experience has quided me to saturate my hair with quality conditioner and gently remove tangles then rinse and style. Do this you will be able to use afiner tooth comb and get a smoother roller set and it will shine like glass without adding anything else. This current stylist is good at relaxing your hair the rest not so much thank goodness you know how to take care of your hair.

Detangling (fine strand) but thick/dense hair _starting_ at midsection to ends🥺then using the teeth of a rat tail comb on freshly relaxed hair. ALL of it had me on cringe😬 the horizontal/vertical application looked fine - if she was GENTLE, doubt it. Perhaps if you can guide her to avoid doing the above then you MIGHT be okay sticking with her😅 Whenever I need a retouch and my long term stylist is too busy, I have self relaxed - never had problems. I go to my stylist to _treat_ myself and I trust her. But, if I were forced into a jam, like K0vid, I got it💆🏽‍♀️Obviously, there are licensed "professionals" who aren't getting hair care right either, so don't let people scare you out of self-relaxing and becoming _independent_ of salons. It's YOUR hair to manage all of your life. Go to professionals because they have great skills and you WANT to let them care/spoil you, not because you're _forced_ to depend on them. Peace🌻

Last, black hair care is special in itself. As a BWoman, if your hair is thicker, longer, minimal to zero split ends, just overall healthier, than the professional who also wears long hair then what should that hint to us🧐 CAUTION! high risk?! Pass?! They don't practice hair care on themselves. It introduces a risk of sabotage due to intentional or unconscious jealousy. Look at you face in the video. I saw concern. Trust your intuition. Oddly, I'd rather damage my own hair so I can cry in the mirror _blaming myself,_ not random pros who made me worry or worse, bald.

Please don't try relaxing your hair by yourself it's too long for that❤

I know, right 😬 very scary thought. I think I might have a chance with the pre-parting method if I ever decide to do it.

Then you gotta moisturize for sure. The dryness will cause breakage.

Yes learn to relax your hair at home. You can also section your hair into two. Relax one section then rinse then relax the second section and rinse

Thank you so much! My concern with that is how to avoid overprocessing the middle part. I can so clumsy at times 😬.

You should change your relaxer. Your hair has gotten used to the relaxer you are currently using.
