Creating a handmade custom DIY surreal art collage is easy! I share my tips and techniques on how I create my analog collages as I cut out pictures and illustrations out by hand with a small pair of scissors and a craft knife. Finding inspiration from old books is one of the most fun steps to this process. These can come from used books, encyclopedias, magazines, vintage postcards, or anything else you can find lying around your house. I find most of my books and magazines from thrift stores, antique stores, flea markets, Craigslist, or even on the side of the road! Watch as I arrange my elements and try different ideas as I talk through my process to create my final design.
Collages made out of paper have a custom made feel that you can't get from a digital collage made in Photoshop. And, there is an added challenge of only being able to use materials that you have access to!

Great collages!
Loved the cats! Totally works for me! Colors blend so nicely and the additional friends spark a mood! Dancers are adorable, I didn’t miss the music until you added the radio and that definitely brought it to life.

Both are so great! Really love the dancing living room scene! I think the challenge with the cat(s) was size, yes, but also the total whiteness of it/them - if it/they had been in a plain brown or black color, for example, I think they would have been much easier to incorporate. Love both of them, the cats look right at home there among the skyscrapers 🐱🐱💖 I've been off my collaging currently and it's beginning to get to me as I really want to do some, everytime I make something I really don't like it...
