I'm like you, in that I don't have to have new shiny equipment. Most of my equipment and tractors are old, but they work well. I had a friend who always teased me about my equipment, saying that when I was done with something, either the Amish bought it, or it went to the Smithsonian Institute. I told him that there was a big difference between my equipment and his - mine was all paid for. That shut him up.

Also if something breaks there is a good chance I can fix it myself or at least be able to afford someone else to work on it. My neighbor has a newer JD probably less than 2000 hours on it and just spent $20k to fix the transmission.

I’ve been sourcing everything through discbine doctor in pa. Order and here the next day by 3pm. Has used shields like you need too 👍🏻

Thanks. Someone like that I only think of mechanical parts not sheet metal Last year I got the tractor end half shaft with the front CV joint. They had it for $1350 NH wanted $2700.

Nice mower, how many horse does it take to run that?

It runs real nice, minimal amount of sway. I like the larger tires better than the smaller ones like most have. The NH (Kuhn) 162 I had that folded back swayed like a drunk sailor.

Does your big red tractor use alot of fuel? I never see it on the new holland mower. I have seen you low with it haul hay and chop.

Yeah. It's fairly noticeable it burns more but it is also about 40 hp more. It is one reason I use the Ford more also the control in the Ford are more comfortably located.

@Mad_Farmer912 always wondered. It seemed like a comfortable tractor with canopy to keep the sun off of you for the most part and would work great for mowing. Bale with the ford and Ted and rake with my favorite the white tractor. Good luck on hay season 2024. We are wet as can be here in Central Ohio. It looks like late next week or the following week to start making first cutting

​@@matthewdavis4081 the IH is also about 1500 lbs heavier. I try to run what handles the job easiest but in come down to how much I want to hook and unhook. I will be raking with the White and do more once I get the drawbar frame fixed.

The tedder is TT4100 and covers 18 ft. The discmower is a 1409 and is just over 9 ft. Which direction I'm a little north from Mt Pleasant.
