Getting Dental Work Done in Mexico | Dental Tourism Tips

During my 3 months in Mexico, it occured to me that I could get my Veneers replaced. It was something I had on my mind and planning for awhile, but never committed. Well I finally did!
Throughout the video I discuss my reasonings, the research I did, how I picked my dentist, and document the process of getting veneers in Mexico.
Dental Tourism is big in Mexico, especially for other North Americans, but if you are considering going to Mexico to get dental work, I highly encourage you to research your options. And you should consult with your dentist ahead of time on what procedure would be best for your situation.

    Looks great, Tayler. I've had dental work done in Tijuana and in San Salvador. The experience in El Salvador was great. The one in TJ was mixed. But I've had similar experiences with dentists in the US. You never know what you'll get. My dad has also walked across the border into Mexico for dental cleanings. His whole neighborhood drives down together occasionally for it. He says the whole small town is dedicated to medical and dental tourism. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Dental costs are ridiculous in the US now.

    Yes, I know so many nomads who have had dental work in Mexico and had great experiences. My experience in Playa was positive.

    Thanks for answering about the cost in the comment section as it wasn't in the video. lol. Do you remember what's the US quote for 4 veneers?

    I don’t remember exactly, but I think it was somewhere around $800-1,000/tooth. And that was back in 2017

    Maybe I missed it, but can you disclose how much “generally” per tooth?

  • @TravelingTayler

    I think it was around $6,000 MXN per tooth, $5,500 MXN if I paid in cash. That's around $300 per veneer. Each of my consultations were around the same price, although this one was the least expensive of the 3.

    I was actually there for about 4 months (from Nov - March) and found a long term vacation style apartment for about $500/month. Prices have gone back up post-covid so it's more expensive now, but you can still find affordable options. But this was also over the winter and not during their high tourism season.

    Hi what is the dental group on Facebook?

  • @TravelingTayler

    @TravelingTayler

    It wasn't a specific dental group, just the local expat facebook group. I just used the search function to see if there had been previous posts about dentists and there were a lot of good recommendations that I then looked up and researched.

    Hi! How did you go about carrying thousands in cash while traveling?

  • @TravelingTayler

    @TravelingTayler

    2 жыл бұрын

    I paid for this service with a card, not cash. I don’t generally get out a lot of cash when traveling. If I do need some, I withdraw from ATMs in the city. Then I only carry so much in my wallet & the rest keep in my room.

    @@TravelingTayler ah ok. I do know that they prefer Cash and that there is also a tax charge on card. Thanks!

  • @TravelingTayler

    @TravelingTayler

    Yes I had the option of either form. The card charge in this case was small enough that I felt ok using it. Also because I would’ve had to do multiple atm trips b/c of daily withdraw limits & such. A card was easier & not that much more expensive in this case.
