Getting an Apartment in Colombia (Sogamoso, Boyaca)

I explain the process I underwent trying to rent an apartment in Colombia (city of Sogamoso, Boyaca). In addition to explaining how to obtain an apartment I talk about the cost you can expect to pay to rent and live in a non-touristy or expat part of Colombia.
Here are the other videos I've made of the Colombian Department of Boyaca: • Boyaca, Colombia

Thanks for showing a peaceful, beautiful and hospitable town like Sogamoso, in my native Colombia. As I highlight your comment on the awful practice of many foreigners visiting Colombia just seeking for drugs and sex, I also have to express my surprise by your idea of rental prices being higher than those in Mexico. By all accounts, Sogamoso is a pretty affordable place to live in.

Colombia doesn't do a lot of on line posting for apartments as well. It's so beautiful there. Most apartments aren't furnished. Interesting. I think you got a good deal there. Looking forward to seeing more from you channel. Boyaca is a very historic area.

Sogamoso is a good place to live there, everything is cheap and affordable, and accessible, services are low, and it is one of the cities with a high quality of life.

Currently, I am living in Sogamoso although I was born here, I spent about 15 years living in other places. So, one year ago I returned. I'd like to know if you are still in Sogamoso and how I can contact you. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the video and information! I'm looking into a rental in Sogamoso, but am a bit worried about booking blindly. What is the "gritty" part of town?

I would recommend staying downtown. The ''gritty'' part of town was around the university. Although that was just a first impression it might be perfectly safe to live there but downtown (center) is a better experience. Have fun

How are the cycling facilities in Colombia? I've heard that they are a cycling loving country, and have a lot of cycling paths, or is this just in some regions of the country?

  • @HumoftheEarth

More bike parts available than other countries. I stuck to the paved roads don't think there's cycling paths but you could ride dirt roads

I am from the city of Tunja in Boyacá, in general terms it is not a touristic region and it is not directed to expats or digital nomads, the region lives from agronomy and mining, but above all from the public system, it should favor it being close to Bogota but the opposite happens, I think where you will see more foreigners is in Villa de Leyva, actually people do not care much about whether or not it is attractive for tourists, there are not many who come, by the way I do not like sogamoso, I studied there part of my university career at the UPTC, it is very rare to see a gringo in that part of Boyaca, a few years ago Tunja was in the mouth of all Colombia for some documents that exposed the Trump government and among those documents there was one about the visit of Adolf Hitler to the city of Tunja, although the document says "Tunga", there are many stories with that theme here in the region although many have already passed into oblivion.

why don't you like Sogamoso? I'm italian planning to move to Colombia, I'm in contact with a girl from Cali she moved to Paipa saying that Boyaca is the safest district in the country... and aftert extensive research I'm planning to settle somewhere rural around Sogamoso and Duitama, I'd appreciate a lot for more feedback from you about the Sogamoso area...thanks!

the area of Villa de Leyva looks more populated with wealthier people, but I find the area to be too arid and uninteresting

@@dominic6055 Hi, I'm from Sogamoso, and let me tell you that in Paipa you can find good places, as well. It's easier to find a good one when you are here because you have the opportunity to see different locations, compare prices, and select the best for you. If you want a tour to know the surroundings, you and your girlfriend can count on me ;)

@@francylorenavianchaacevedo3617 Thank you lol she's not my girlfriend, just a contact that has been kind to explain me how life is in Boyaca' and Colombia... Paipa looks very nice but I'm not a fan of touristic areas, I'd love a more rural area(I love gardening) but not too far away from a city and after extensive research I'd say anywhere between Sogamoso and Duitama to be a good spot, especially the area of Tibasosa and Nobsa. I'd like to keep in touch with you, if you agree. Let me know how I can contact you.
