  Mon ami. Proceed with caution in Valle del Cauca. My advice is for you to follow whatever American/UK/Canadian embassy says, if they say avoid certain areas, I do suggest you avoid them. Colombia is under very poor and ill intentioned government policies encouraging the rise of FARC and other Marxist guerrillas. Many areas lack government existence and are ruled by the former mentioned groups. Your friend from Boyaca.
