Getting a larger answer (Quotient) when you divide! Modeling how this is possible

A concept that many middle school students struggle with is the idea that they can divide a number and end up with an answer (Quotient) that is actually larger than they number that was being divided.
This occurs when we divide a number by a positive number less than 1 such as a decimal or fraction.
In this video we use a few examples and model how and why this is possible.

The value is not greater than the number you're dividing by correct? The answer is simply how many decimals add up to make the original value.

Yes. This is a great way of summing this up.
