I get my pup in March! 1 month away! But for the past 3 months we been preparing with nothing but johns supply list! I can confidently say our new pup process will be a bit more smoother because of John! I’m hoping to give my Doberman the best life I can give him ❤️

I had a beautiful Doberman named Jake he was brilliant and a great companion. It was not complicated in anyway to train him or anything else. I think people complicate everything…..

I still don't have a Doberman yet but I honestly feel the shift in the atmosphere I can feel like my breakthrough is coming in shortly brother. That's great to hear! A ton of research is done in order to make one of these videos, so it's nice that you are benefitting from it!

Stay away from foods with rosemary. My one Dobe has head tremors, which apparently is common with Dobes and Bulldogs. I've never seen head tremors before and my Dad used to raise Dobes back when the first Magnum (Tom Selleck) was popular. However, once people stop getting treats, dry and wet food without rosemary, the tremors usually stop. My friend has an epilepsy page for her English Springer Spaniel. She never thought to look at the shampoo ingredients. Sent her Springer into a grand mal seizure. Read all your labels - rosemary is usually the last to 5th from last ingredient in treats and dry food, in the middle of the list for wet foods. Of course stay away from red dye ( goes right through the dogs), propylene glycol (derivative of antifreeze and actually in a lot of treats), and other countries usually don't have the EPA laws that the USA has in place. Your dog's life might depend on you being proactive. Hope this helps. Can be very difficult to find an option without rosemary.

That adjustable puppy pen is great. Very effective way to put up a barrier when needed, between room or in some cases to stop entry or exit between indoors and outdoors.

We finally got our first Doberman puppy after almost 2 years following you and learning.. She’s 8 weeks old. I did find this exact 48” crate with divider and bed, brand new, sealed box on Facebook market for $25.. and quite a few things on there for our puppy.

This video is very helpful. I was thinking about looking for a video in your channel about this but when I open my phone this morning, I saw it so thank you very much for doing this. I would add 1 thing to this list....a reservation for AT LEAST one puppy training/ basic manners class. Unless you are an experienced dog owner/ trainer you will DEFINITELY need some help with how to get ahead of your incredibly smart Dobie and make sure they are a well behaved and well socialized pup. Training or lack of it is a HUGE factor in your dog's ability to integrate successfully with the family. Physically they grow fast and can become unmanageable and unruly very quickly.

Great video, in depth and realistic. Not sure the pen and 2nd bed is necessary nor the third stainless steel bowl. Please also research what foods are okay to give your dogs for treats because cheese is not one of them.

I've recently just got a dober pincher puppy unexpectedly. My dad wanted to get it for me mainly because one, they're one of my favorite breeds and also is on my bucket list to have one but also wanted me to have extra protection since I'm an anxious person but also can be stubborn. So after watching this I know what to get the puppy without being over budgeted. And I hoping to train this bad boy to be a Badass in the future when they get older.

Learned today our new girl was born. He will join our Moose in 9 weeks. Wife and I super excited.

That price was very good. I had so much for our 3rd dobe we got last year from the other two when they were pups. I guess I really went out on a limb with toys. Couldn't let the puppy be only one with new toys so everything was multiplied by 3. Yeah...probably over kill but I didn't want any problems with being jealous of toys. Everyone had something and I had enough to keep rotating daily then disposing when they got to that phase where they weren't safe any longer. The Kongs have been around now through the 3rd generation. They still love them in summer when I freeze them with treats inside.

Our Doberman of 10 years has DCM. So we are getting a puppy in March. Hopefully our 10 year old Doberman will be here when we get the puppy so he can teach him a few things. ♥️

For the scoop bags, people on a budget usually either re-use plastic grocery bags or ziploc baggies, and forgo the puppy pads all-together. Love that you pointed those two things out, though, as they are typically found on a puppy list!

I boiled up a lot of chicken breast and kept it in the fridge for training. You only need a tiny bit for each reward. The store treats tend to be very expensive.

Now my breeder is telling me that the Victor Active dog & Puppy grain free food is high end and no need to change for now. Do you have any experience with that type of food? When you put your puppy in the pen in the kitchen and it just quietly curled up in the bed, I about died... My dobie pup didn't want to be contained in any way and I couldn't even fence him in a large space. He cried the whole time he was crated too. The worst. Now he's a 4 year old angel, but a puppy that falls asleep in a pen would have been great lol

Random fun question for you. Have you seen the movie UP? One of my all time faves, but unfortunately the doberman was a bad guy again. The dogs had collars that made them talk. I love that idea. If talking collars were real what kind of voice do you think Arlo would have? Who do you think he would sound like?

Getting my Doberman August 15th. Can you show how you post the ears?

How do you think, what kind of training is more suitable for a puppy doberman while raising, IF he is mentally good and his nervous system is balanced: only positive reinforcement (which is very popular nowadays) or old school training with leash corrections and stuff?

Maybe was just good luck with each one, but I lived with about three dogs (none at the same time, and none were Dobermans) and no crate was ever used. Waste elimination training and habits were not a problem. Trick was, someone had to be very observant and act FAST, to help the puppy adapt and to manage any troubles at the first sight.

Have you tried correcting him when he barks? Like saying a command “quiet”? It kind of helps with my dogs…. It might also help if you could have him meet other dogs so he doesn’t find them foreign or strange

Hello John, from watching your videos I’ve fallen in love with the breed and want to get a doberman of my own. I’ve done a lot of research and have come to the conclusion that I want an american female doberman with natural ears and a tail. My problem? there seems to be no one within a 500 mile radius of North Florida who can sell me that. Do you have any advice? Do you know any american bloodline breeders that will sell with an undocked tail and uncropped ears?

@@ctothej28 yeah i’ve been on the phone with the ACK, DPCA, and a service dog organization (because im getting the dog for my PTSD) and basically all I’ve gotten back was “you have to ask the breeder individually” (which I tried to and got cussed out by 5/15 breeders I spoke to, and made a man cry from apparently how disgusting and disrespectful that request is😬) and they explained that since european bloodlines are more profitable (you can sell them for basically 2x the price) that’s why more people are producing european dobermans. I know this isn’t helpful😂😂 but I thought I’d share it anyway. My aunt who is a vet for a humane society said you basically have to “know someone” in order to get a reputable breeder that breeds american dobies with natural ears. so I’m hoping John answers. Since you’re looking for the same thing i’ll reply to your comment again if I can find someone.

I get it but I also don’t. I understand the history and how is representative of the breed, I just don’t understand why asking to opt out of a COSMETIC surgery is such a horrible thing to do many breeders. One man even said to me “if you can’t handle something like ears you don’t deserve a doberman, don’t let your F***ing anxiety ruin such a prestigious breed get yourself a little bitch chihuahua” maybe I just happened to stumble upon bad apples but like come on that’s a little dramatic over some ears.

There is no such thing as a miniature Doberman. You are thinking of a Miniature Pincher. It is not related to a Doberman at all even though it looks like a small version.

i have a 7month old. he doesn't stop crying. if I ignore his crying he breaks out of his crate and totally destroys it. its so dangerous that he will get hurt. im not sure if he has separation anxiety as he doesn't cry when im leaving. he is fine with that. but he goes absolute nuts when 1 of the pack ( either one of my other dogs or my partner) goes ahead,litteraly one step ahead. I tried so many things and can't think of anything else what that could be. any idea anyone with Dobermann experience?

So many thanks for your tips! I adopted a juvenile Doberman from a rescue years ago -- so I loved hearing you mention the Embark DNA test!! My dog's test results showed that, yes, he is 100% Doberman, and also told me of his potential health risks. When you consider a litter of purebred Dobie pups, each one may have a slightly different genetic markers. So the Embark test can really set your mind at ease and help you plan ahead, if need be. My guy is almost 12 yrs old now, going strong, and the Embark results have helped me and my vet to look out for potential issues.

Where can I find pups for sale 😭😩

I really hope I can get some feedback here. I've been running breeders by a number of forums and they're absolutely pulling apart every breeder in 350 miles of me which is not an issue. I'm willing to pay and travel for a healthy dog. But it seems like a lot of people insist on a SHOW quality dog (no dew claws, cropped ears, cropped tails) with parents that undergo every medical test in the book. I'm not trying to take shortcuts or support bad breeders...but for $1,500 am I really not getting a good dog? They test for VW and DMC, vaccinate, crop the tails, and leave the ears up to then owner. Is going through the DPCA and getting a breeder from there the only option??

Exactly that’s my problem to, the AKC also has a breeder list but in terms of ear cropping and tail docking you have to “know someone” and talk to breeders individually because the DPCA requires all their breeders to crop ears and dock tails
