Hi Becky, great video as always :) I have a small suggestion for you regarding weighing your produce. Over the winter try to take an hour to weigh all your harvesting baskets/boxes and bowls. On the baskets you can tie on a label with the weight, write it on the boxes and bowls (or use a list or duct tape stickers). Then when you weigh your produce all you need to do is look at the label and deduct the weight of the baskets/box/bowl. It's a little thing but speeds you up at the end of a hot afternoon's gardening. Hope this little trick helps you and your followers :)

You should get a digital suitcase scale, lift the basket full of produce with the hanging scale. Mark the empty weight on each of the baskets. The scales weigh up to like 110 pounds. Amazon sells the scales for 10 to 15 bucks

Becky, you are wonderful! Although you are half my age I have learned many things from you! I just now made my first bowl of brown sugar! You are correct when you say doing things the "homemade" way is very rewarding and empowering! Even down to simple techniques of cutting and peeling an onion, your method is much easier! I'm not certain that it gets cold enough, for long enough to grow after the first frost but I am in the process of planting some garlic! We live in a neighborhood and have a pool in our backyard so our growing space is limited! I have taken out most of the shrubs in one section of the yard so that has given me some room. Tomatoes, peppers and okra are what I have room for! Bless you sweet lady for helping this old lady get better in the kitchen because that is where I love to be! I hope that Josh, Acre and you all have a wonderful Holiday Season all around! Linda/Grammy

I am NOT. I grow on a tad bit over an acre. I have a big container garden, 3 greenstalks, 15 small raised beds and an inground area. It's "busy" like grandma's wallpaper. I leave stuff out all. the. time. One day I hope to find my late mother's garden trowel. It was so old. She probably got it at Kmart back in the day. It was the best trowel. I have never found it. What a great idea using the lighter to create the holes in the fabric. Love the tomato harvests that you have had this year! So many tomatoes!!!! Time to put the beds to rest.😴 I used to help my Dad put his garden to rest for the winter. We would pull everything & he would amend then cover like you did. He said the the garden worked hard and needed to sleep. Plus gardening is great but after so much harvesting a person can just get tired. Thanks for sharing.

Becky and crew, perhaps weighing might happen if you put some tape on the baskets (base of the handle?) and as soon as you get inside. weigh it and mark it. or if there are weatherproof outdoor scales???? you could have them right outside. perhaps also some nephew or niece or just a kid who wants to learn could lend you a hand. Here in Mexico the kids are always willing to pitch in. Glad to see that the organizing helps you get more done, more quickley. hugs to you and yours from me and mine Jim Oaxaca

I can't believe that you pulled up your tomato plants when they're still doing so well! If you didn't want to mess with them anymore, could you have called a local church and see if they'd want to harvest them to share with others? Mercy, it seems like such a waste, I just hate seeing food wasted. There is always someone in need nearby it seems. Ours are still going here in Kansas, and if we get a frost warning, I always put a painting tarp-clear plastic-over them before nightfall. Then, like you, when it starts to get too cold, I'll bring them all in, green too, and process or hide in a brown paper bag in the closet for 2 weeks when they are mostly ripe. Just can't waste food.

I’m in zone 10b & I don’t get a frost. I currently have my seed garlic in the fridge where it will stay until mid November then I’ll plant it out. We had so much rain this past winter/early spring that most of us in my area lost their garlic due to diseases.

Love the massive garlic heads! Can’t wait to see what they produce for you next year, & how much easier processing! But WHY aren’t you using your Gator instead of just wheelbarrow during all these big harvests & bed cleanouts?

If you cut the landscape fabric with the torch instead of the scissors the end will already be sealed....saves the extra step of cutting then sealing the end.😊

I grew up in Michigan the first tomatoes were always picked green for frying 😋😋😋. The last green tomatoes were always made into green tomato relish also delicious. Love your channel Becky .

What lovely big cloves! Just a thought about the planting pattern - a diamond/offset pattern is best use of space especially when planted so closely together. I would probably plant that bed only 4 rows wide instead of 6 if aiming for big bulbs also but I'm sure I'm a couple weeks too late with my comment 😅 I'm sure they'll do great either way with all your nurturing!

I think you might be wrong about not getting hard neck garlic from the grocery store. I planted garlic from the grocery store last year and it was hard neck.

You should fry up some green tomatoes and eat by themselves or make a bacon and fried green tomatoe sandwich. So so good. And if you like fried okra, try adding chopped green tomatoes in with your sliced okra. Add flour and seasonings and fry together. Oh so yummy!

Yum. I love fried green tomatoes and it doesn’t matter which variety you fry although obviously if they are bigger, it is easier to batter. Thanks for showing the process of harvesting and bed prep.

I was just thinking wouldn’t it be a cool idea to have an old time scale kept down in the garden area with some type of board you could write on with every harvest so it’s right there, in your face on your way up to the kitchen next season…..end of the year you’d just have to add up all the columns. Tomatoes, cukes, etc…..
