I've got the original stealth plus last week after coming from the rogue st max and I've never been a taylormade driver fan but honestly i can safely say it's the most confidence inspiring driver I've ever bagged. Got the 10.5 with the evenflow riptide 70 shaft and it's a fairway finder for me. I like the compact head shape and honestly prefer the original stealth matt head compared to the new gloss version

I switch between 2 drivers currently: The Stealth+ and the TSR4. The Stealth+ is really solid, been a monster off the tee and I have a lot of confidence in it. Stealth+ is a solid driver. I wouldn't say it's forgiving, but it's definitely a little more forgiving then the TSR4. TSR4 MOI is around 4100 gcm² whereas the stealth+ is around 4,600 (similar to TSR3). Stealth 2+ they say will be slightly more forgiving, but I doubt it would be worth the upgrade. It will probably sit in the 4800 range. That's right where the old sim 2 was, and to me the designs look very similar.

Yay!!! Well done, a very realistic and practical review. I like the gloss finish, but I go back to a shiny Spalding TopFlite driver, which started shiny and, by the time that it was replaced by an original Lynx Predator (shiny!) driver, was matt! Great review. Would you play it in preference to the Srixon/Cleveland you're currently playing? No? Thought not, but an interesting, and fair review. Thank you.

Mark, I was sitting here on lunch rewatching this video... because it's fun watching you try for the magical 170 ball speed. I was just thinking if you got a Taylormade fitting. Then put that shaft in Stealth 2 and SIM or SIM 2 I'd be interested to see the results. How good is Taylormade's final effort with a Titanium face vs its most recent effort with a Carbon face.

  • @motormad8945

Taylormade Stealth 2 plus vs ping g430 lst I generally hit 2-4 degrees up and around the 170 mph ball speed. Even hitting up on it I still struggle with spin creeping above 2500. these are the two clubs that I’m considering. The problem is In a fittings I have found I will generally be sold whatever brand offers the best incentive to the shop/fitter. (Currently play a 10.5 sim which I think is part of the issue as a 9 degree would be better suited). Cheers bruhhh!

Just an idea, but I like to rate my driver choice based on two things- I could go to any course and be confident of keeping the ball in play and then also its ability to respond to the go for it drive and get another 10 yards carry. Can you do a test for your driver of say 20 balls under target pressure ( 18th at PB maybe like you did in the past) get a strokes gained/lost and 10 balls going for it at a wide open par 5 and get strokes gained number and combine?

From your stats, it looks like the S2+ went slightly further mainly due to the lower spin rate. That could be the clubhead/weight setting or maybe even the shaft (or shaft setting). It does show that especially for a better player an effort to "fine tune" the club can make a difference. For the rest of us? Hard to say.....

The problem with buying a yr or 2 old is getting fit. sure you can pay less on a slightly used driver, Callaway has a great site. BUT how do you get fit for an old used driver. I suppose you could pay $100+ to get fit and then look for a used driver with the same shaft as the one you were fitted for. And this yr I don't think Callaway with Paradym would work. Also many fitting shops will not charge for the fitting if you buy the driver. so then the cost of the driver effectively goes down by $100+.

@@miked.7722 I agree. My point is that, taking the Stealth as an example, you can buy both at the moment so you would try both and if as I expect there is no difference, then you get the mark one but at a lower price than the new. Marks's excellent video shows there is no difference even at his swing speed so at an average golfer wont tell any difference. Also, many golfers change drivers on the basis of the publicity they see. If more U Tube coaches gave a real comparison then they might make more cost effective decisions.

Ping 430 is supposed to favor forgiveness over max ball speed whereas Stealth this supposed to favor ball speed over max forgiveness. I'd like to see a comparison between the two!

Is it just me or for the drive around the 3:43, did the simulator start to display the ball flight BEFORE the ball was hit? Is that some type of illusion?
