Todd Graves highlights the importance of the pivot point in Moe Norman's Single Plane Golf Swing and how it simplified the motion from address to impact. Using the Single Plane Position Trainer, Todd demonstrates indoor and outdoor drills to help you stay on the correct swing plane and feel the proper club-to-body relationship in the backswing and downswing. Todd walks through the checkpoints of a proper grip, position 1 takeaway, position 2 backswing, position 3 downswing, and position 4 impact.

The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

    Todd, I saw a video of you by chance because I saw it on KZread. The truth is that I'm impressed, I'm fascinated with this swing concept, I haven't stopped watching your videos and Moe's, and I've been fascinated by the concept of this MOE swing. I am reading the book, and of course practicing a lot. Today I made the best round of my life. I am absolutely happy and grateful. Thanks you so much for share this gift with us.

    Todd’s videos took me from an 18 hcp to a 6 hcp over the last year. Very grateful Todd! I look forward to attending a Graves Academy event in person someday soon. I get a lot of compliments on how solid I strike the ball from my friends. Now if I can master putting I’ll go scratch! BTW, all this at 63 years old. My 7i goes 170. Never hit the ball like this before.

    0:17 - Tim has an awesome golf swing, just WOW! The separation in the transition is EXCELLENT! He resists ANY temptation to swing the arms after transition, well into the downswing; Rotationally the hips lead the torso, and that trail elbow is married to his trail hip and side. Outstanding lateral side bend, and amazing how long he drives that bent trail elbow into rotation, making for a superb late release. No wonder he wins a lot!

    @Todd Graves. Hi Todd, thanks for sharing your work. I have revisited Moe's single plane and integrated some Ben Hogan aspects, like the arms close together with right one bent some and the square back foot and right knee bent in and left knee bent in slightly at setup. All that has given me the connection and stability i need to make a good Moe Norman swing. Our front yard was saturated today and I am now able to pick the ball clean, even though it is very damp, hardly any grass grown in yet, lie (still a little cold here), without getting anything but an occasional grass blade and only the slightest hint of mud, on the 7 iron face. That to me is astonishing, I have never hit a ball this cleanly and consistently, with such effortless, coiled power. Thanks again. peace love light

    i own your book and the foot position board. This swing trainer allows me feel the position putting the weight to the inside of the trail leg. Spectacular. Yes in the early days I used a piece of PVC pipe. The trainer was the final piece of the puzzle. I started with the traditional swing and practiced with my professional for 6 months before playing a hole. Practicing these positions and checking them - including that clever little stripe of the swing training club is again - spectacular. All the best.

    Something I don't hear mentioned about Moe's swing: watch his head in relationship to a spot on the tree behind him as he begins the back swing. Now watch as his head (his entire upper body) lowers as he starts and completes the downswing but before impact. That's a significant drop we don't see in Todd's swing before impact. Can you explain what's going on? How significant is that drop in stature before impact?

    This technique is phenomenally efficient, especially for woods I noticed. And starting with the clubhead those six inches behind the ball works for some unknown to me reason - much more power and not detrimental to the strike quality at all.

    The first movement is key. When I get to position 1 correctly, position 2 happens naturally and the results in a feeling of confidence. I focus on the back of my left hand. It should be on plane at position 2.

    You could have it go to the ground but it is unnecessary since the movement is the same for all clubs. The singe plane trainer teaches the club to body relationship - the grip - and the proper movement of the arms and body. No need to hit the ground.

I can find videos where you go through some of the positions obviously but can't find a run through of them all in the one segment where you deliberately demonstrate each position. I'm sure it's probably staring me in the face but any assistance would be much appreciated ! Many Thanks. Tim

    Todd at 22.55 you explain when you set up with both hands that in the backswing the trail hand is just going along for the ride is this the same for the downswing ie. the lead arm is leading the downswing to impact. I am getting confused here as I recently watched your video on 'slapping' the ball into impact which to me can only be done by the trail hand?. Help!!!!.

  • @ToddGravesGolf

    @ToddGravesGolf

    Жыл бұрын

    Initially the trial arm is along for the ride but it has bent and the wrist has hinged in the backswing. Then midway in the downswing, the trail hand accelerates like skipping a rock it goes from bent to straight. the wrist goes from flexed to extended. The lead arm pulls as the trail arm skips a rock. Biomechanics of the body is a series of movements. Comments like along for the ride are only partially representative of Actuality.
