Get Rich When Your Best Friend Becomes Famous | Social Tokens
Ғылым және технология
Investing in Fame? Is that even possible? Our answer is hell yeah!
With Social Tokens people can invest in their idols and even vote for some of their personal decisions and communicate exclusively with them on social networks.
Of course, investing in Doge is great (boring), but as much as the good boy on the coin tries to deceive us, it is not real. You’re investing in the demand for an inanimate asset. But what if you could invest your money in the future success of a person? A living individual that you can influence, meet for coffee, or even get intimate with. Behold the ‘Social Token’.
In this video, Bradley will tell you about different types of social tokens, what they are made for, and of course, it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t mention the risks for investors that Social Tokens can hide. Are you ready?

This feels like step towards a dystopia where everything about our lives is commoditized. Absolutely harrowing. Just picture a young independent creator, who's work suddenly becomes popular, can't keep up with the rise in demand and expectations, and ends up ending their own life from the resulting harassment and death threats, as their fans-turned-investors are financially tied to their success. I'm not a fan of this idea. I can only expect the worst of it.
Its definitely an interesting project thats worth exploring, but could easily be used wrong, just imagine big music companies buying all the tokens for some unknown singers and then bringing them onstage and promoting them to bring their token value up and then selling everything and dumping them back out in the street. Also creators may feel forced to keep doing something they don't want to out of guilt or peer pressure, just imagine your comments being filled with investors trying to get you to do something to boost the value of their tokens rather than actual fans

There would be significant legality issues here in terms of enforceability on something like 15% of someone's future earnings and what constitutes a contract between a token distributor and token holders.

There is already a (somewhat) tried and tested framework for this, commonly referred to as "Income Share Agreement". Some colleges let you sign this (10% for 5 years after you get a job or similar) instead of paying education fees upfront.
Man capitalist realism is a hell of drug. How about instead of comodifying everything possible and eventually floating all money to the top few we move past capitalism to a more democratic and human life based system

@SaltyBrains well for starters housing, healthcare, education, and transportation should be garenteed as they'd not only end the economic drain of homelessness and prison and pay for themselves exponentially as people will be able to find the jobs they excell at and be able to get a decent wage by not being tied to a job to avoid destitution, education could easily be free and would only benifit the masses by allowing people to push further in their careers not to mention cars were a terrible investment as a nessesity, they are a luxury treated as a nessesity when in actuality they're more like boats, an over priced constantly depreciating asset that requires constant maintaince. Having decent access to minimum housing is nothing when there are more empty houses than homeless people and rent is skyrocketing, both issues could be solved with, again, decent universal housing and prolific decent universal transportation so people can get to work and save up for a car if they want instead of relying on to expensive cars or underfunded, slow, poorly managed public transportation, then with the education and healthcare which is self evident we can solve almost all issues of society. Then by bringing democracy into the workplace so the workers have actual say over the work they do instead of an autocratic totalitarian top down system we can improve the lives of people even more. All of this is easy to do, will only improve lives and living standards for all (rich and poor) and, as I said before, pay for itself exponentially in the economic explosion from these things

Great description of tokens, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts here! Interesting concept to cover as well. As someone in the industry I'm surprised I've not heard of this yet. I'm not too sure the use case of these tokens due to the lack of guarantee of the person not just forgetting the token or promises they made with it. Regardless, this video is such an improvement from the NFT video. Good job on your research!
The only thing you've convinced me of, is that this is a horrible idea. So, instead of an individual getting ripped off, a whole group's worth of people's money will get ripped off at once? Genius... 🙄
Great video!!
People here should read the Uglies series, particularly the fourth book in their 'trilogy' called Extras. Personality-based economy is a big focus of the opening chapters.

I don't like the commercialization of people. It would also create huge pressure for artists when they know peoples have invested and want to see profits. Like with companies, capitalism creates wrong incentives. I also don't like the idea of investing. Profiting from the work of others is basically exploitation.
