Get Canadian PR after working 1 year in Canada with CEC (Canadian Experience Class)

Спорт

The CEC program is one way to get your PR in Canada. It is one of the 3 express entry programs in Canada, which is for skilled workers. It’s not difficult to get your PR through the CEC program, but it is definitely a lot of work. #canadapr #permanentresidence #livingincanada
In this video I’ll walk you through the CEC program, the minimum requirements, and also give you some pointers on what to pay attention to. I made some mistakes in preparing for my application, so I hope you’ll be able to avoid these by watching this video!

    Amazing video!! I´m planning as well on going to Canada with mi (soon to be) wife. And after we had a 1:1 session with a migrate officer advisor they told us about this program. You do not only tackle the main requirements but you even pause and explain more profoundly over some terms (such as the NOC). We are both accountants and one of us is going to study while the other works full time with the open permit. Would love to see videos about tips/succesful storires for this profession in British Columbia. cheers!!

    Hey thanks for the video! I have 1 year skilled experience in canada, now do I need to update my express entry profile with my 1 year experience ? Because I thought i did but my CRS score is not changing and it says that im still not eligible for this program! How come? Does my job needs an LMIA to count for CEC? My job is class B by the way

    Having an LMIA is not an eligibility requirement for CEC. That being said it significantly boosts your points to get to the cut-off score. I’ve never updated any info on my profile, if it hasn’t worked, try to use the webform to communicate with immigrations.

    Great explanation!! I have 2 questions. Right now I'm on a study permit and doing a full time job as well as a new rule introduced to work off campus more than 20 hrs. 1. Does this experience count while I'm studying? 2. My designation is Lead - Technology, does it come under the managerial category?

  • @LivinginCanada

    @LivinginCanada

    Thank you! 1. As far as I know, work while enrolled as a student doesn't count. But note that there are new regulations for applications submitted on or after Nov 16, 2022 (which I am NOT familiar with). Make sure to check out this link:www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/economic-classes/experience/qualifying-work-experience.html 2. In case NOC applies to your application, then what's important is the description of the roles and responsibilities (not just the title). So you'd need to browse the NOC codes, click on the jobs that match your job the best and then really compare if the detailed responsibilities match. In case they are too far off, then even the designation doesn't matter much. Hope that helps!

    Thanks so much! To apply via the CEC stream you need to have that Canadian work experience. Many people gain that either by getting a "qualifying" job offer directly from a company here, or from work experience after they graduate from their studies in Canada. That's something to consider. But there are other streams, e.g. that I will talk about soon for which Canadian experience is not required.

    Some things you can do is improve your language test results (if it's not at its max already!), accumulate more work experience, get arranged employment (eligible job offer). Yes, your wife's work experience can count if it's Canadian (and meets the eligibility requirements). I encourage you to research more on the official page! *Disclaimer: I am not an immigration lawyer, these are based on my knowledge and experience only*

  • @LivinginCanada

    @LivinginCanada

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks! Yes, that's right, in addition to the eligibility requirements, the CRS score and cut-off score each round will ultimately determine who gets an ITA (invitation to apply). A very good question, according to canada.ca "Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (even if you were on a co-op work term) doesn’t count towards the minimum requirements for this program". But regular part-time work does count. Hope this helps!

  • @LivinginCanada

    @LivinginCanada

    Жыл бұрын

    As far as I know, during the pandemic there has been a program to extend PGWP duration, but not sure if you've made use of that already. One option is to go for a second study course. Both I and my husband alternately took Post-graduate certificates lasting 1 year, which are quite affordable. Honestly, it will be very difficult to compete with that score, but probably getting a second education in Canada will raise your score, plus you'll get extra time for work experience which will add points. Understood about the age factor, but you never know! Right now cut-off scores are super high, but depending on government policies, things may change (like last year, where they suddenly upped the intake and the score dropped to 75 in one lucky round). Don't give up, there will be a way. Further, I would suggest to work together with an immigration advisor/lawyer who'd be able to give you better advice and tips. All the best!

  • @LivinginCanada

    @LivinginCanada

    Жыл бұрын

    You can set up an Express Entry Profile anytime, as long as you meet the minimum eligibility criteria (including language skills and other things I mentioned in the video). I am not sure, but I'd say that it's a good idea to wait until the LMIA is in your pocket so you can check that off in your application and get the maximum possible points. Once you reach the cut-off score (CRS score), you will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply), after which you submit your complete application package. According to CIC (www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility.html) for citizenship you need to have lived in Canada for 3 years (in the 5 years immediate before citizenship application). Interestingly, also " each day you were physically present in Canada as an authorized temporary resident or protected person before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day (up to a maximum of 365 days". Check out the link above for more details!

    Nope, having a work permit doesn't have anything to do with a PR application. The PR application is based on you fulfilling all the PR requirements. The only thing that connects to work permit is that if you work in Canada, it has to be legal and on a valid permit, otherwise it could disqualify you for a PR.

    It depends on your particular situation. If you're referring to FSW (Federal Skilled Worker program), if you have a lot of points from your foreign work experience (which you can prove), you might have a good chance there. Else, I think immigrating through the CEC is one of the most simple ways. Then again, it depends on how much you score on other things like language and age.

    According to canada.ca: "Your language tests are valid for 2 years after the date of the test result and must be valid on the day you apply for permanent residence". This means after receiving the ITA and applying as in submitting the complete application package.

    Usually students are allowed to work part-time while they're enrolled for full-time studies here, and yes usually it's for 20 hours, so many students work part-time while studying to support themselves, that includes service jobs and others,, but it will ultimately depend on what is stated on your study permit!

But even then I would have 1560 hours done because I work 40 hours per week. So will I be able to show the required 1 year experience for CEC by 25th August 2023 or will I have to wait for additional 5 weeks time till Mid-October equal to what I have spent outside Canada?

    Thanks for the video. I’ve a pretty specific circumstance I was wondering about. Myself and my common law spouse have been here since April 2022. We both have very good jobs and are approaching 12 months Canadian work experience. We have plenty of funds and have built up good credit scores. We need to assess our NOC codes but I’ll most likely be 0. I’m a commercial director in the food industry, but I haven’t been able to identify the exact code. My issue and question is - I don’t have any college education. I’ve got over 16 years commercial experience prior to arriving here and soon to have 12 months here. How should we go about applying for PR. Can my spouse apply and sponsor me, or is my Canadian work experience plus CELPIP scores (yet to take, but as a native English speaker I’d hope to do well) be enough? It’s very difficult to find a clear answer on this, so I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

Perhaps, you can look for a remote position that requires specific language skills that you're fluent in (but that work experience would not count towards CEC).
