Well done. this was quite helpful but I need a full guide of the mg16xu and how can use it as a sound interface to record live sound for my church with each line independently. help me learn how to use it on adobe audition and logic pro
Thanks.
The teacher what I want to learn about mg16xu
Hi I see this video was made 5 years ago and I have taken on board everything you said, but I'm now today looking for a new mixer, up to now I have been using my old Dynacord Cms 1000 mark 1, a desk of nearly 15 years or more and only recently purchased the presonus Ar16c and although it's ideal for recording onto SD your live gig, as a live desk it drove me simple, so I sent it back, now I'm getting advice to go for a tascam model 16 or 24, again has the SD recording ability, but only one effects bank, which I'm told are not that good, then Allen and heath zed series, but again only one effects bank, but more usable, also the yamaha mg20 xu was an option but again only one effects bank, so I'm in a delima as to what is a good buy in Analogue mixers today in 2023, hands on for live sound with 2 effects banks like the Dynacord, or is the only option in plain sight to me, to stay with Dynacord and purchase CMS 3, I would love to read your view on this since you are a performer yourself, and to add point 2 in reply to your video here center pan is best 👍

Can I connect 2 Woodwind condenser mics that need Phanton Power? Would this unit work for that?

Of course, just engage the phantom power (+48) button on the console.
would have been much better if you would have done a live test..
Where's the mid eq for ch 9-12?

Just to put it in perspective, we haven't had our hands on this board for over 5 years. So...I dunno? If I had to reach back in the recesses of my memory, I'm assuming because they're channels for USB returns and/or RCA stereo sources like CD players that probably don't require much mid-EQ'ing on the board for PA situations? Hard to tell...
the PFL is flashing. why? i think this is a common problerm on Yamaha's mg12xu. There is no PFL button pressed ;) kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqKYmNSHYqq5opc.html

This video was made four and a half years ago, so we really don't remember, to be honest. Without having that exact mixer in front of us again to play with, it would be impossible to say why the light is blinking in that particular shot.

The PFL button on both channels 4 and 7/8 appear to be pushed in, which would definitely cause the blinking

@@mynamesnotimportant6941 is correct. When any of the PFL buttons are pushed in the light will blink to indicate PFL mode is in use. When all the PFL buttons are in the off position the light stop blinking. For an in-depth tutorial on the MG12XU use this link kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJOtsdidnLC7cco.html . It is a two part video series on the MG12XU and all its functions. I just moved up from a Yamaha MG10 to a Yamaha MG12XU and the above video tutorials have help me better understand the complexity of the MG12XU mixer.
Live test would of helped better
This was the worst attempt to show the functionality of the board. tip 2 pan knob..really dude. how about using aux sends and ST out when to use pre fader button or not. joke...how to use ear buds with aux sends maybe....

This was not meant to be a comprehensive instruction guide to this board, rather it was merely meant as a quick into to this particular unit. For more detailed info, we wrote an entire lengthy guide that covers aux sends and pre/post fader functionality. It's free and linked in the description.
