    What do you think about the X-T4 compared to the X-H2S?

  • @lumberjack3008
    @lumberjack3008 Жыл бұрын

    Using them side by side, I don't miss the dials at all, as it outperforms the X T4 in every way. No more fiddling around with the unreliable und underperforming AF C. Much better grip, viewfinder ES, object and face recognition, bigger buffer, bursts without limits ... easier to reconfigure. For the photos showed in the video, even a X T2 isn't a bad choice. No improvements for the X T4 since release, so it's an investment in an two years old camera.

    I have both...and even though the xh2s is technically superior with a better grip, the xt4 has a much more intuitive operation. When im with family and moving kids i take the xh2s. When im alone i takd the xt4 with a manual lens.

    Reason 1 and 2 are the main reasons for me to get the HS-2 mainly because I do use the feature and upgrades. The style matches my gfx100s and for aesthetics im going for the xe4/100v more than the xt4. But like you mentioned depends on the person and needs and I agree. If ots stills only, I see why the XH2 its not as appealing as for people that do video though.

    Personally I prefer the PSAM Dial as I am used to shooting with a DSLR for many years (mainly Nikon). That is exactly why I bought the brilliant little Fujifilm XS-10-it is a mini powerhouse with some of the XT-4 goodness. The XT-4 is still a great camera and you could argue that Canon has only just about caught up with the release of the R7. As a wildlife photographer/videographer the X-H2S is very appealing because it has 4K 120fps video and 40fps burst (stills) plus the new subject detection AF but it is just too expensive for me right now. And that new XF 150-600mm lens is one that I desire too!

    I completely agree with you, I’ll wait to see what the X-T5 brings to the table, but it would have to be “more than amazing” for me to upgrade to it, I really enjoy using the X-T4 and the results that I get. On a separate note, ever since I got the XF33 f/1.4 for my street photography the XF16-80 is collecting dust. BTW, very nice images. Be well and stay safe.

    @@ThierryGibralta You’re absolutely right, if you don’t use something…., sell it, but in this case I’m keeping the XF16-80 not only because it’s a good lens (or I got a good copy) but it’s great for travel which I’m planning to do very soon. I did sell the XF35 f/2 (when I got the 33) and the XF100-400 (which was an impulse buy and really collecting dust), I believe that I only used it twice, the first time I took a photo of the moon, the second time was at the zoo, that lens is so heavy that after walking with it for about an hour I wanted to throw it in the elephants exhibit.

    I buy Fujifilm camera mainly because of color science, film simulations and overall small and light factor. Before Fujifilm I was shooting Canon DSLR for over 10 years, so for me PASM dial is natural and logical way to control camera. I get it, that this retro controls may be fancy to use, but they are also clumsy. For example, You need to use both hands to control aperture ring, or shutter ring in X-T4. In camera with PASM dial, you can adjust those settings by one hand. Then, shutter dial has only full 1EV steps, if You need more precise control of shutter speed, you are force to use rear control dial anyway. And at the end.. Let's say that I'm trying to take photo of my dog while running (I'm using X-S10 + XF 33/1.4), and I've like 1/10 shots in focus :) So yeah, I choose X-H2s over X-T4 all day long. You are to biased towards Fujifilm retro controls scheme ;)

  • @ThierryGibralta

    @ThierryGibralta

    Жыл бұрын

    I am definitely biased 😆 and you have a fair point here! I personally don’t mind using both my hands for those settings, especially when taking photographs, but I can understand that it can be advantageous for some users. Thank you for watching and sharing your opinion!

  • @doghouseriley4732

    @doghouseriley4732

    Жыл бұрын

    The point. That it appears everyone in missing is that Fuji need to get new camera buyers. The PASM dial is something that everyone recognises (apart from the dinosaurs) and therefore these people can be converted. As a7D Mk2 user, I will buy the X-H2S but would never consider the XT-4, even look at it. So if you want Fuji to survive and succeed, you need to get with the program.

    I like the look of my X-T4 (and X-T1 that I still have), but I *never* use the ISO and the shutter speed dial, why? Because Auto ISO always selects the lowest possible ISO speed and shutter speed for the shutter minimum I have set. Nobody could set it to minimum all the time. In modern time it is basically a useless anachronism. Only thing I generally manually set is aperture. In rare cases (fast movement) I set the minimum shutter speed to 1/500s or so, but even then I am on Auto ISO.

    You have made a compelling argument. I will not purchase a Fuji XH2S. Who doesn’t want a more performant body? I want better autofocus. I want better IBIS. I will not spend $2.5k for a new body. My needs don’t demand this performance. As you argue, the difference between an XT4 and XH2S would be better spent on glass. Bodies come. Bodies go. Glass is forever. I love the retro style. I love having nobs and dials. I am not a PASM fan. One reason I use Fuji. None the less, I just purchased an XS10 used. I want the IBIS and the video capability. I can compromise. I will not compromise with the XH2S. Will I purchase one in a few years when it has depreciated? Who knows? Other than going to work, I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow. I hope the BSS will filter down to smaller and cheaper bodies. I have what I want and need. Sometimes good enough is good enough. Mask On Nurse Marty

    Every camera has its pros and cons. In the end, you need to first decide what you want to do with a camera before buying. As an amateur, the price of the XH-2S is way out of my budget. I'm an XT3 user. I bought it a little over a year ago barely used, basically new still in the original box with the 18-55 and other extras for far less than the cost of many bodies alone. Since I'm not shooting video, the XT-3 is plenty of camera for me. And, the images are really nice. I'm sure the new bodies have their place and if you're a pro who can afford them, then go for it.

    As you have said there are many parameters (mainly affecting video) that make XH2s way superior. And I do agree that the xt4 is enough for most users... But if you take productivity as a factor, and this is your tool to make money, I do think the design of the XH2s is superior, since is optimized for just that... I think the dials of the xt4, even if cool and bringing nostalgia are not optimized for productivity. Once you have experience with photography and aperture, iso, shutter speed are clear... is way better to twick them using only one small wheel... click adjust, click adjust... makes it obviously more quick and easy to handle... Otherwise you have to go to each wheel of each parameter and adjust each setting independently... many times even taking the eye out of the viewfinder. Not optimal... With the XH2s you make it quickly and you do not need to think much about it. The wheel to change from custom configurations is great, since you can create a base for each scenario you photograph at... Studio, street, nature, B&W, portrait, product... At the end you become more Productive, and that is money...

    if it wasnt for the body design of the XT4 I wouldn't have a Fuji at all, the simulations add to it, but the body is the foundation of the choice

    honestly I don't agree. I have a couple of XT3s (no T4), H1 and the H2s. The AF on the H2s is SO much faster for everything. Which makes all the difference. And budget-wise.... well, the X-H2s is a camera for the working professional. And here the budgets should be able to include an X-H2s. And I don't get the "it's as pricey as a full frame". FF is not "better" by definition per se. And being heavily invested in the Fujifilm ecosystem, with a ton of lenses, I just would not want a different brand system. Yet alone for color matching. If I need more resolution, I just pick my GFX...

    What I meant by “as pricey as full frame” is that new user might not want to invest in it from full frame or over a full frame body* Sorry for the confusion. If the AF difference is worth it for you, no problem. For me, for what I saw in my tests while renting it, it is not worth that much money over my X-T4. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts

    Well... for me, Fuji is all about the color science. I don't care about FF vs APS-C. As a matter of fact, I switched tonFuji FOR the smaller sensor, and less weiht. Having shot 20 years on Nikon before. With all the D800/D4s... and the generations before... Fullframe is not "upgrading"...

    Oh I totally agree, I don’t consider it upgrading either and chose Fuji for the size and weight, feel and experience and colors. All I am saying is that if new users come over, investing 2.5k$ in the X-H2S might not be what they should fo. In stead a X-T4 with some high quality lenses might be more attractive to them

    Nice reasons, but I'll take a step further and say "If on a budget, get the X-H1 over the X-H2s" = save more money and get FUJINON lenses. I never like the grip on the X-T4, it is too small for such a hefty body, specially when paired with a heavy lens. I exclusively use the X-H1 as my main camera in my channel, and I have also have great supporting cast: Sony a7S m1 & Canon EOS-M.

    Agreed that the grip is a bit small on the XT4 but I do prefer the overall look of the XT series though.

    You are a photographer apparently not a videographer. So this is irrelevant, XH2S is a video camera. XT4 IBIS is an absolute garbage due to constant drifting, might as well call that no IBIS, because it hurts more than it helps. It even messes up ronin gimbal videos... facepalm

    Anyone who wants to shoot wildlife of sports should go to the X-H2s. It's way better than the R7 and so far ahead of the X-T4......... it should not be in the same sentence. This is the pro-body Fuji. If you are into video, ditto...... If I have to explain it, you should not be here. For the die hard Fuji fans keep twiddling your dials and I wish you luck. Fuji needs to compete because it cannot survive long term with niche cameras with quirky old fashioned dials - people expect more. PASM dials are the norm, live with it. If you think you can piss in the wind and the world will bend to your will, you are an idiot. Just look at the demise of Olympus - anyone who thinks JIP will continue the fight, just look at JIP's previous past performance.

    Have you listened to all the arguments in the video and the different use cases where the X-T4 is enough for “most users”?

  • @doghouseriley4732

    @doghouseriley4732

    @@ThierryGibralta Well that all depends on what you determine "most users" to be. My point was directed at sport and wildlife (as per my first sentence) and the target audience for this camera. I mean the autofocus alone gives you a good reason to buy the X-H2S over the X-T4 - the reason the X-T4 didn't worry Sony, Canon or Nikon is because it really wasn't all that, but how many new Fuji customers came in from elsewhere, diddly squat. And all businesses know that you need new customers, not just recycling old customers. Fuji have finally got there............................
