May we see Gerschenkron's model as "investment led development model for backward countries"? From my perspective he stresses how Germany and Russia developed through emphasis on investment over consumption. Taxing the household sector to subsidize the company sector. Hence, also the mercantilist / current account surplus. China being the latest example of this model and probably close to its limits by now. Thanks!

Your content is too good to have so few subscribers and viewers. Post a video every week. If that is too time consuming, produce five or six in advance and release one each week while working on week seven. That way you are always ahead. Although excellent, Perhaps hold off on the more obscure works and focus on the main philosophical cannon (ie plato, descartes, Hume) or pair the teachings of two philosophers one well known and one extreme. For example compare and contrast Marx and Weber, Arendt and Hoffer, Searle and Chalmers, Hume and Reid. Your presentations are really quite compelling and as an Arendtian, I very much enjoyed your presention on The Human Condition.

Thank you Scott for your very thoughtful words. I am sure you are right! The thing is the videos I post are a kind of side line that emerge out of things I'm working on. So they kind of depend on what I am doing. And they also take a fair bit of effort to do. So I am not really able to generate that amount of content tho I totally see that it would be good from a you tube channel point of view. And your kind support is much appreciated.

@@stjohnspipecasts6801 i am a member of the Hannah Arendt Center at Bard College and as a benefit I participate in a weekly reading group facilitated by Roger Berkowitz the director of the Hannah Arendt Center. We have up to a 100 zoom participants each Friday at 1 pm Eastern Time (US). We are wrapping up The Human Condition now (I believe that we are reading On Revolution next). All of the videos of the zoom group are uploaded to KZread each week so you can search for them. If you’d like to participate in next Friday’s session let me know and I can pass a code along to you.

@@smacky1966 that is really kind of you to suggest that. What a great thing to do and I'm sure you have gained a much deeper appreciation of the book by that method. This Friday I am travelling but I will look up the you tube videos esp if you indeed move onto On Revolution which I have never read. Thank you for sharing this with me.

How backwards do you think America will get in our modern time? Since it’s education and pushing to develop technology has seemed to declined. They haven’t industrialized in a major way for over a decade.

Oh I'm not sure gerschenkron allows for de- Industrialisation! Tbh I think economic logic points away from industry now - modernity taking form of service industries and digital tech and such like. So industrialisation isn't the key to modernity as it once was - tho it may still be a step towards it.
