Maradona sabia bien que Muller era jugador de Alemania, su molestia fue precisamente porque le parecio raro hacer una conferencia en la misma mesa con un jugador del equipo contrario al lado y en eso tenia razon porque eso no se usa. Luego despues se contradijo diciendo que no sabia que era un jugador (quizas porque eso le aconsejaron que dijera para quedar bien) pero si lo sabia porque antes de irse lo dijo muy claro.

They had dominated Germany so much that without Germanys good defense, luck and Neuer it would have been 5-0 for Spain. Germany only had one or two attacks against them. Yes, Spain lost against Switzerland but that was their first match in the world cup and they were just unlucky because they missed the goal many times in a close way, e.g. Xabi Alonso has hit the crossbar after a corner. And sometimes such things happen in football. Switzerland lost against Chile later but Spain won against Chile. And yes, Spain won every match with 1-0 but that doesn't mean anything bad. You can be a world class team and show much talent winning a game with a one goal difference. The second reason is that Spain didn't have any players who were experienced in the forward position. They had every position perfectly placed and even the substitutes were world class players. In the second game the coach placed David Villa to the forward position and he also scored 5 goals in 6 matches, just like Müller (you can say Germany have Müller while Spain have David Villa). But even though his 5 goals, the forward position was not the best position for Villa. Normally he is a midfielder. And because of that in some games the midfielders or even defenders had to score the goals (Iniesta vs Chile; Puyol vs Germany; Iniesta vs Netherlands). But what makes you say that Spain were bad because they won everything 1-0? Look at Germany in 2014. They had 7 matches and also won four of them by a difference of one goal and one of them was a draw but still they were a world class team.

They knew they couldn't win without Neymar but we should be real: if Neymar and Thiago Silva had played, Germany still would have won, no question, but it would be something like a 3-1 for Germany rather than a 7-1. Don't get me wrong, I am a German myself and I'm still so proud of the world class team back then, but I should be honest: Spain was just better than Germany. Spain was one of the best teams in football history. Btw, the 1-0 victories from Spain remind me of the Germany 1-0 France match in 2014 where all the Germans kept saying 'yeah that wasn't our best game' while I was like 'what are y'all saying? That was one of Germany's best matches because they defended so well' It's not always about scoring the most goals, it's about making a good and thrilling game.

Die Geschichte der beiden Mannschaften miteinander, Maradonnas arrogantes Verhalten und die Tatsache, dass der Gegner hier mir seinem besten Spieler angetreten ist, machen das 4:0 für mich dann doch erinnerungswürdiger. Wobei mir natürlich bewusst ist, dass der subjektive Unterhaltungswert nicht so viel über die sportliche Qualität aussagt. Aber 2010 hat Deutschland noch einen berauschenden Angriffsfußball gespielt. Guck dir die Jungs an, die haben nichts zu verlieren. 2014 kam alles aus einer geordneten Defensive, das wirkte alles in allem erwachsener, aber ein bisschen weniger begeisternd.

I still enjoy this game more than the beating we gave to Brazil. We don't really have a "vicious" rivalry with the Brazilians even though they beat us in 2002. We play Argentina WAY more often than Brazil. I felt kind of bad for Brazil during the semifinal, but if we had done that to Argentina then I would have wanted Jogi and the boys to run the score up on them. I'm glad they showed mercy against Brazil though.

2002 to 2014 - World Cups, ALL could have been won by the germans with a little more luck, each loss (either finals or semi finals) was close, who will ever forget Italy defeating Germany in overtime...or lost by goalkeeper mistakes...(Olli Kahn vs Brazil...) In these 12 years Germany played insane football, and then 2018 came...champions curse...and the worst foot they played for over a decade...

After 3 minutes of this video, no yellow cards for argentina. One of the worst referee performances. Otamendi, brutal foul before the 1:0. Messi for handplay, clear yellow card, not for Müller, who could then have played in the semi-final. And the angry reaction after the four-men-offside-goal of argentina !

Klose makes scoring goals look so simple not flamboyant and exhibitionism. He to me is one of the gratest goal scorers.

It was great

Looking back at this match, its one of the clearest examples of why Messi should've played for Spain. Argentina don't deserve him. And it's clearer by how humble he is in defeat compared to his teammates. Such a contrast.

My favorite to see lose are 1 Argentinia , Turkey and Italien because they play extrem dirty, unfair and fanatic. . . . . . 3. Dutch and England but atm they play clean 4.Spain and Brasilien because when they begin to lose they play dirty too and brasil seems to much fanatic and arrogant imo ...sorry All other countries play mostly fair. Btw germany will win nothing this in wm 2020. Bad team bad Trainer. Best player ever Klose. Not arrogant, fair and good in all whwt he had do.

@Time Traveller Just from my memory, they met at least 5 times: 1986(Final), 1990(Final), 2006 (Last 8), 2010, (Last 8), 2014 (Final). Except for 1986, Germany won them all...

Germany was the best back then. I miss this kind of play from Germany so much. Do I have hope that they will come back in 2022? 😨😢

The best part was the Press conference before that match! Maradona didnt know who Müller was and refused to hold the Press conference with the "Janitor" or something. Well, Iam sure he knew who Müller was 3 min. into the match. :)

Muller missing in Semi final is big miss , otherwise Spain are not in Final,

No the spanish team from 2008 until 2012 was probably the best national team ever. But the 2014 german team was incredible to. If i had to choose i would still say that the spanish team was a bit better overall.

Say what you will about Germany vs Brazil and Germany vs Argentina from 2014, both were wonderful matches, this match from 2010 is my favorite Germany performance.

Fun fact: After the final 2014 they said, "we would have won with di Maria". In this match they had Messi and Di Maria and lost 4:0

I always love seeing Messi getting dumped on.

I remember this game, were i Germany with my family (from Sweden) and we stayed in an village and went to a pub, and when the first goal came, a lady said to the cheering fans "well just make sure that it stays one-zero!" Then she went away and when she came back the fourth goal was scored and she was like "FOUR?!"

I didn’t know why I dislike Argentina from my chilhood and this is the main reason to love Germany, only Germany can fulfil my mind by defeated Argentina well.🤓 😘🇩🇪❤️

I remember purposely forgetting this game 😉🇦🇷

It was a very amazing World cup in South Africa 😍😓

It's almost as if being in Europe, Messi received the decent support and passes that made him look good. He played tragically bad for his nation on the biggest of stages and rarely delivered when his country needed him but for Barcelona fantastic.
