Germany's Most Overkill Tank Destroyer

Ойындар

Decal link: tinyurl.com/42thwzv3
The Jagdtiger is a heavy tank destroyer based on the hull of the King Tiger heavy tank. In real life it was pretty garbage, being horrendously unreliable, difficult to use, and very expensive. It War Thunder it isn't much better.

I don't understand why everyone talks about this tanks like if the designers were some kind of monkeys that were given some pencils and paper to play around with random shit. Is it that hard to understand that coming with an even just maybe decent tank design within the span of maybe not even a year is like trying to play the lottery? It's not a surprise that most of late war tanks were such a mess

The Jagdtiger is an interesting one. It's most reliable feature was that it was almost guaranteed to break down at some point, but if it could get itself in a position where it's flanks were secured and it didn't have to move much it could hold up entire armored columns on it's own. It is in-line with Germany's attempts to bridge the manpower/resources gap. Then there is the matter of crew training, with there even being a story of a Jagdtiger being knocked out by a Sherman because they turned completely around to try and withdraw instead of just reversing (or just returning fire).

If there's any sort of funny WWII vehicle I wish was in the game, that would be the Soviet SU-76P. It's a T-26 chassis with an open-top crew compartment and it was armed with a 37mm gun or (The variant that's more interesting to me) a 76mm regimental gun M1927 infantry support gun. It's primary shell types are HE & HEAT. It was also used on a modified GAZ-AAA truck as the SU-12. And, as the KT tank gun, is the main gun for the BT-7A, T-26-4, early version of the T-28, and the T-35.

You say that but...... From Wikipedia Conclusions The Ferdinand/Elefant may have been the most successful mass-produced tank destroyer employed during the war in kills per loss[citation needed], reaching an average claimed ratio of approximately 10:1. During the Battle of Kursk, sPzJgrAbt 653 claimed to have knocked out 320 enemy tanks, for the loss of 13 Ferdinands.[13] This impressive average ratio was due to its superior firepower and protection, which gave it an enormous advantage when used in head-on combat or a static defensive role. However, poor mobility and mechanical unreliability greatly diminished its operational capability.

  • @Vlad_-_-_

@@martron123 That's according to the nazis who are notorious for inflating kill counts for propaganda, wikipedia uses as sources books of former nazi generals who are biased as hell, so your argument holds no water sadly. Also regardless of kills, only like 90 or so where made, so their contribution is zero in the grand scheme, except in impressing german army fans that is. That is their only lasting legacy. And how NOT to build tank destroyers.

Hey Spookston, you should try out the AMX-13-90. It's at 7.7 and for that you get a decently fast vehicle with a 90mm cannon, 320mm pen HEAT-FS and 5s Autoloader. I found it to be a very enjoyable vehicle and I think that, given your preference for light tanks, you just might too.

@Spookston could you do a video talking about possible top tier spaa for the USA? Possibly the HVSD Anti-Air System, Linebacker, or M-SHORAD. Love your informative type vids and would love to hear your thoughts! Hope you are doing awesome!

I got my 2nd ever nuke using this absolute bunker of a tank. This thing sucked up every shot that hit it including a 76.2mm shell to the weak back armor that somehow didn't pen.

This guy is one of the main 3 reasons I play war thunder. I strive to be as calm as him after getting obliterated by a 12000lb bomb while I'm trying to get out of spawn.
