This brings back so many memories. We went to Germany (from Austria) when l was three and left when l was six. We were billeted in a tiny farm town. On Christmas day l was locked out of our house and hung out with a girl named Lore. Just before dinner we were allowed into our houses. It was magic. We were poor but there was a tall tree covered in hanging candies wrapped in pink and silver, along with little glass bulbs, apples and tiny cookies in bags, plus real, flickering candles. My dad had built a dollhouse and it was furnished with tiny plastic furniture sent by my sister who worked as an au pair in Canada. It was, in my opinion, the most magical Christmas ever.

It's those memories that are so special! Thank you so much for sharing it Heidi. I remember so well when we were children my parents used to decorate and we weren't allowed into the living room and then at night they said that the Christkind was there to decorate the tree and put our presents below it. Simply pure magic.

@@jillianjenkins7952 In some homes it is still the tradition that one parent/ family member leaves the home with the children while the other decorates. My father would take me for a walk after dinner on Christmas Eve. Imagine my delight when we returned. Tree was all decorated with candy and cookies, nothing fancy. One present under the tree! Short nap and then it was off to midnight mass. MEMORIES 🥰! Consumerism has taken the joy and meaning out of Christmas 😢

Vielen lieben Dank! Wir hatten das riesengroße Glück, dass wir bei Käthe Wohlfahrt eine zeitlang vor Öffnung filmen durften, das war einfach wunderbar. Gott sei Dank ist es aktuell in Rothenburg noch nicht so voll aber sobald der Weihnachtsmarkt los geht, ist es sehr sehr geschäftig. Ganz liebe Grüße

What a beautiful, whimsical, magical place!!!! There is nothing as Christmassy as Christmas in Germany! My best and most treasured childhood memories are of the wonderful times spent in the Black Forest and the Baden Baden market at Christmas.
So gorgeous! I had the privilege of visiting Rothenburg last December when the markets were open. It was an absolute dream! It's so heartwarming seeing you share your visit there. I enjoyed strolling along with you in this lovely town. The buildings were magnificent. The shops were interesting to see. But the best part as always is to see you and your husband so cheerful and happy together.
We are nestled between two German areas here in North Alabama (Huntsville and Cullman). Love it! I get access to tons of German food thanks to the European Market in Huntsville, and can shop at the German/Bavarian gift shops in Cullman. The shop/museum you showed us is so special! Loved the historical displays, especially the paper decorations. Oh my! Love it all!

I have always wanted to visit Germany during the traditional Christmas market season there. I had a friend who used to talk about them. Thank you for sharing a bit of the magic with us! I commented too early. 16,000 sq feet of Christmas shopping!! I was so excited just watching. And the medieval town!! Took my breath away. What an added treat. I loved your tour! What a treat to me in the Christmas Spirit! Thank you so much for sharing. My husbands family came from Frieburg and they settled here in Pennsylvania and named their town Fryburg. They were primarily farmers and when they cleared their land , they saved the stones and built a magnificent church.

What a magical town! We visited a Kathe Wohlfahrt shop in another German city several years ago & just loved it! I now wish it had been the one with the wonderful museum. I just adore antique Christmas things!

I so enjoyed this video. I’m from a German ancestry here in America though I’ve always wanted to go to Germany for Christmas. My sons grandma is from Frankford, but she moved to a different part of Germany at this time. I’m very familiar with the smokers in the wind Charlies, I live in Texas where it’s very hot and we don’t have much of a winner in my park where I live so the AC turns, sometimes the wind turbine. 😆😀 I enjoy your videos that you showcase Germany and England and I love the music y’all put together for it to I adore the both of you think you’re wonderful married couple wish more people were like you and your husband 🥰

When I was a flight attendant I loved going to Germany at Christmas. Thank you for this delightful video. We are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow here in the US. The Pilgrims that landed at Plymouth Rock dedicated what would become America to God and gave thanks to Him along with the Indians that greeted them and introduced Maze ( what we know as corn) so we give thanks for you both this fall 🍁🥰🍁✝️❤️

I'm first generation Canadian from German parents. There is nothing like a German Christmas especially as a child. Candles on the tree and beautiful German glass ornaments.

I was there years ago and still have ornaments from the Kathe Wohlfahrt shop! My grandmother was born in Germany and her family immigrated to the US when she was young. We still carry German traditions all these years later! Merry Christmas!

O, I cannot wait to see this when I get home tonight!! I’ve got my night mapped out with the both of you, dear Kirsten and Joerg!! I spent so much of my growing up years in D’land (my whole extended family is there) - in beautiful Aschaffenburg and little Babenhausen - but it was always for the summers, never in the winter, and the same held true for when I took my children. We were stationed in Germany and then my father retired there. 72 to 96 were magical years. So many happy memories.

What a perfect way to relax with a cup of tea and a biscuit (yes, just one😁). I’ve had a busy day in the kitchen preparing Christmas side dishes for the freezer. It’s all staring to feel quite festive. I’ve tried to enjoy the calm tranquility of November for as long as possible but the time has now come to surrender to the magic of the Holiday Season…and I do so quite happily ☺️! I visited this glorious town with my family in 2015. Every moment was magical. The architecture, streetscapes, charming shops, gardens, views from the tower and town walls and surrounding countryside offers so so much to those into fairytales

Thank you for sharing this magical Christmas village. It's so interesting seeing how other countries celebrate the holidays. I remember when I was a little girl in Buffalo NY, grandma would take us downtown to see all the department store windows all decorated with different themes & moving parts. Those were such special days. ❤

In 2010 I toured Germany primarily to attend the Passion Play in Oberammergau. I was so impressed with so many German cities especially Rothenburg. It felt like a Disney film set. Thank you for sharing. Love your videos and both of you. ❤
