German WW2 Badge Restoration and Conservation. 79 Years Underground! ASMR

Ойын-сауық

WW2 German Infantry Assault Badge Restoration and Conservation. I found this German Badge on the battlefield with a metal detector. This is the Infantry Assault Badge. I decided to restore and preserve the Badge to preserve the history. I removed the rust and dirt and preserved the Badge. I hope you liked my restoration.

You showed the proper historical content of the medal. My mother’s family had members who were Jewish and were officers in the Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine. They were by no means Nazis and were persecuted when the purges began. You did a great job saving a piece of history… and you did it by explaining the historical context. We must always remember the past and the facts to have a brighter future. Thank you for your work. I am the son of Catholic and Jewish parents and appreciate how people have survived their lot in life.

I have mixed feeling about the final finish. In the photo you referenced the badge had a bright finish. I was expecting something along those lines. In any case you did a wonderful job of preserving a piece of history.

Even if it had a bright finish originally I would be that any soldier wearing it in 1944 would have darkened it down. You do not need a piece of bright metal on your uniform attracting the attention of the enemy.

Infanteriesturmabzeichen. On one side I am fascinated, on the other hand I hope you respect the fallen soldier if you find one. The name tag is intact, so he probably still is MIA. Please don't be a souvenir hunting coward. Young guys who never had the chance to enjoy their lives, dying and lying somewhere in foreign soil, fighting for idiots and criminals. Lesson not learned still today. How sad.
