Great video J & M... lots of history and much new to me. All my trips there have been day trips and while seeing much of the easily accessible sites, I have not gathered much of the outlying history. Thanks for sharing the experience. It will certainly serve to stimulate our visit next spring. Ride safe and often, John and Liz

Wow! My mother was in the CAP back in the late 50's early 60's I believe. I think she was stationed out of Paterson or Totowa NJ. I wish I knew more about what she did in the CAP and asked more questions. Unfortunately she passed a few years ago. I do still have her uniform which is kinda cool. 👍 Great vid and thank you for reminding me about my mother. I do miss her.

My mother grew up near Lumberton, NC, which is within an hour of the coast. She remembers black-out drills during WWII.

Thanks for your remarks about CAP. As I a cadet member from age of 13 to 19, it was great experience. I was certified in search and rescue and ham operations. We built our own radios and used them during hurricanes in south Florida with CD. I took flying lessons at age of 16 and enjoy flying to this day. It also helped with a career in the Air Force from Vietnam Nam to Desert Storm. Used my lessons from pilot training to navigate a mission of chinooks. Thanks

Did the first millage check in some time on this trip. We averaged 34.3 mpg, fully loaded. our max speed was 65 (better gas millage) We must have got some bad gas outside of Wilmington with mileage of 29.6 (that took our average down) Per top off: 38.3, 36.1, 35.9, 29.6, and 35.9 MPG.
