Great documentary but he got killed on Ocracoke Island, He got stabbed 20 times with a sword and shot 5 times before he died. His head was cut off and set on maynard's ship. To prove he is dead and to scare other pirates.

“It was later discovered that he (Maynard) and his crew had helped themselves to about £90 of Teach's booty. The two companies did not receive their prize money for another four years, and despite his bravery, Maynard was not promoted, rather, he faded into obscurity“

Edward Teach was a thug nothing more. He was just like these young thugs today the beat the hell out of old people & others who can't defend themselves. You've turned this into a 3 ring circus. P.T. Barnum would be proud.

Actually he was one of few pirates who had a political catalyst into piracy as a Jacobite sympathizer. In fact he acted more as a privateer if you consider that he was working with early NC colonial government. He might be the only documented golden age pirate who actually did less actual piracy of his own independent accord than claimed. He was also documented to be gentlemanly so long as his marks complied. Not a thug, a legend.

@@bushhippie7372 he did do less actual piracy than credited, that is true. But it is nations not governors who issued Letters of Marque. No Letter of Marque? Not a privateer. Also having the governor as his partner didn't mean he was not a criminal, it merely meant one of his partners in crime had a high political position. A legend? Yes. But he was still a thug and a pirate. He had no letter from the crown making him a privateer. He may have been able to be presentable in upper society, but he was no gentleman, and when off at sea committing his crimes he was a thug.

He believed in governing himself. Not letting the British dictate his life. Similar to how some people wish the government wouldn’t dictate our lives. Except there too cowards to fight back. Which is understandable considering the power the government has. With each generation it’s the same. When people fight back; after so long there the ones who turn out to be the bad guys. Let’s take the Indians for example. Tempt them enough; and they’ll fight back. Then they can say “look at those savages” With each generation it’s the same. Governments and Kings become tyrants; citizens take all they can take; and they fight. World war 3 is around the corner. I can’t say when but I estimate soon. Maybe around 2030. Who knows could be sooner. Inflation has risen; gas prices gone up. I mean hell might even have another civil war. If it isn’t the 3rd world war. All people do is fight. Surviving is fighting. The ends justify the means sometimes. You just have no choice. Back in those days you either had to eat shit; or rob people. The 1700s were a pretty bad time to live. And considering the tyrants back then; well they deserve to die. And if anyone thinks I’m morally wrong; even the Bible tells us we’re all guilty 😂 and Christ died taking the death we all deserve. And Ngl I could agree with that. 100% Anyone sees a wallet with 5,000; I don’t doubt they’d turn it in. Just for the sake of turning it in. Usually there’s always a motive or agenda behind every action we do; and no doubt if they would turn it in; they’d have a reward on there mind. I know humans pretty well. Flawed abominations if you ask me

@lilpeeper not always true. People can organize themselves into a fair society, it’s the people that get together with their guns and impose their will on free people for their own benefit; they are the problem.

You know that Blackbeard usually had 40% of his crew as African slaves because he would see slave ships and go and capture it and have some of the slaves go as his crew and everyone in his crew was treated equally and had a wage similar to everyone, no matter the skin color. Blackbeard didn’t care if you were black or white or brown or pale, he just wanted some crewmen and he treated them fairly

Pirates were notoriously homosexual they would take a ship. Take the treasure aboard, and supplies. Then throw the women over board. You can figure the rest. It's a know fact. God forbid you were a cabin boy.

Yeah that’s absolutely bogus. Some may have been and sailors did engage in homosexuality even in the navy. But they wouldn’t have thrown women overboard to engage in “buggery” specifically, most were straight and that is demonstrated by how much of their loot was documented spent on sex workers in places like Nassau, Port Royal, and Tortuga among many others. Women of nobility would have likely been held for ransom by the captain who would protect her out of being smart. Kill the women and children and the crown comes down even harder. Smart captains avoided violence or hostage situations whenever possible. You’re making shit up.
