German Shepherd first dumbbell jump
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
First time jumping with the dumbbell. New pictures new mistakes. It’s my job to show him the right answer not punish the wrong answer for something he doesn’t know. I know many think it’s wrong for me to mark and reward when he hit the jump. I don’t. It’s how I train. It’s why my dogs love the work, never are scared to make a mistake and give me everything they have. We are a team. A team in learning. This was the whole training session. Then we played

Thanks for sharing Larry!
Everyone only likes to show the perfect jumps, not the road to get there. Thanks for sharing 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I usually do every morning isometric exercises with my two shepherds to activate the muscles to get strong hind legs after the first walk. Basically, I do 2 different, when they do not need a pause from the previous day: 1. Get your dog straight, parallel hind legs, then grab a paw hold it up, a little higher than chest, elbow close to the body. Each paw min. 30 seconds, 3 times. You will see how he has to compensate and therefore flex the hind leg muscles. 2. This is my favorite: Get your dog straight. Slowly start pushing against the chest of your dog. The goal is that you push him back & he pushes against your horizontal hand. So you need to time right and built up pressure, as soon you feel resistance you reinforce. You can also do this from both flanks. From the flank position, I use a ball in front, at which my dog has to focus. I push the shoulder and pelvis with my hand, sometimes even with my foot. My dog should not break focus with the ball and withstand my pressure, then I mark for the ball. Built up time and pressure, it's really fun and a nice way to exercise your dog without much space. The 2. exercise is kinda tricky though and needs skill and good timing to built up good pressure. You can also teach your dog to crawl, as low as possible. It will increase Your dog's jump power for sure. You could also warm up the muscles before the jump to get the blood flow going. Let me know If you like it, my dogs can walk forwards and backwards on two paws;)

Sounds good!
Nice
End on a high note!
Paid the invoice. Cannot wait to get started so I can do stuff like this with my dog.
I think Larry is the negative punishment master ;) -P is underrated by many, use it and the dog truly works its brain
Obviously the jump is too high. More conditioning would be the key. Join an agility group and do more ground work. Rear end awareness... The entire jump shouldn't go over... Dante is so beautiful! Thanks for sharing Larry!
