Retrospectively it would have been clever to watch this video way earlier. The way this channel explains all the relevant information about an Iranian outsider was enlightening in many ways. Talking about demographics, religion, animals, food, politics and relations to others countries this 15 minute video summarized a lot really quick. As usual I memorize the probably most useless fact: Iran is the biggest producer of pistachios. Well, I hope people don't look bad on Iranian people just because of their origin, there's to much nonsense in the news.

Fun fact:Aryan means iranian &iranian are the origins. I laugh when I see a brotherhood member talks about white supremacy and Aryan blood that runs in their vein when they actually don't know who &what is Aryan?!

19:35 Historically Azerbaijan and Caucasus region had been ruled by Iranian dynasties until the Russo-Persian wars in Qajar era in which Persia was defeated in them and Russia captured those states through several treaties. They gained independence after Soviet Union's collapse. That's why there are more Azeris in Iran than in Caucasus. Azeri people are culturally and racially Iranian but speak a Turkic language that replaced their previous language Old Azeri.

2:39 The name “Persia” comes from the Persian name “Pars” which is a region in southern Iran,Persian or better to say “Standard Persian” is the official language of Iran, why I say Standard Persian is because Persian is also the ethnicity of ~65% of Iranians but it’s native dialects (that are gradually fading away) are very different from each other. For thousands of years the western countries referred to Iran as Persia until 1935,when Reza Shah asked the international community to call Iran by it’s native name and anything else would be considered inappropriate. Since it’s unification (2700bc under the Median Kingdom),Iran has always been a multi-ethnic civilisation and well the name *Iran* is inclusive and being *Iranian* is a bigger identity than one’s ethnicity,Iranian culture is based on multiplicity which makes it unique as it means that we’re are the *same* people by being *different* … Now,you might ask why we sometimes introduce ourselves as Persian to foreigners? Well,it’s because not many people outside Iran know much about it and they commonly confuse it to be an Arab country or completely confuse it with Iraq, therefore introducing ourselves as Persian is a way of avoiding that.

Accurate, except you forget to mention that Hitler wanted Persia to switch it’s name back to Iran, since Iran means the land of aryans. Hitler loved Iran since it has Aryan in it. So he sent Nazi representatives to Persia(Iran) where there convinced the shah to switch it to Iran. The British didn’t like the change, in which Reza shah just said he doesn’t really care what it’s called.

@@MarkSmith-vo1vn That’s not the case, Reza Shah did really care about the recognition of the name Iran in the international community, Iran’s relation with Germany was about; Enemy of my Enemy can be my friend,as Iran was looking for alternative powers to Britain and Soviet Union, that’s why Iran also had good relations with United States and France, Nazi Germany’s relation with Iran was more about rivalling the British and the Soviets, having a geographically important and resource friend that could be a potential ally, although the fact that Iranians were Arians really helped and was influential. Hitler and some of the Nazis did like Iranians and considered them as Aryans however Hitler’s racial theory wasn’t based on making sense even with the standards of racial superiority theory (which is already stupid itself), for example;Slavic peoples and people of northern India are Indo-Europeans as are Iranians and Germans, but Nazis didn’t liked them,on the other hand Arabs are Semitic people, but Hitler aligned himself with Iraq, what I’m trying to say is that the racial theory is too simple and too stupid to have a huge affect on a complicated topic like Geopolitics.

@@miladd237 The Soviets and British were definitely pushing Iran around, which would lead to the revolution later on. However, I doubt the shah thought Germany could help much. You have to remember that Germany didn’t seem super powerful before wwII which worked to its advantage. It had inflation and just came out of the Great Depression and lost wwI a few years before. I believe this Nazi visit occurred in 1938 if I am not mistaken. Not only that Germany was geographically far away. The only possible option was economical, which I highly doubt was the shah’s motivation as he was pushed around by the British to give them a cut of all oil revenue and a famine would occur killing around 4 million Iranians. The British and Soviets had control over Iran at the end for railway, but the shah was not removed/deposed and still had control in a variety of sectors. The British and Soviets cared for the Iranian railroad to transfer supplies.

Hi Cojak, As you know I'm here again 😁 He just have limited informations about religions in Iran, Bcs there's Church and other religious places in all the cities in Iran, also there's limited freedom for non-Muslim religions here, as an example, here alcohol is banned for all the peoples but Iranian Jews/Christians can have alcoholic drinks in their holidays. But i gave him this right to talking like a western guy that just heard and read in West, He never tripped to Iran and didn't see all the things here. Iran-Iraq had war during 1980-1988 but nowdays and after Saddam (Iraqi dictator) we have significant ties together. About Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, That shows hairs because Iran-Afghanistan still religious but Tajikistan has a Secular gov. 😁

Hi Cojak :) I think you have great name. There was movie called Cojak in 70's :) Unfortunately the facts in these documentary are inaccurate mostly propaganda! I like to summarize the history of Iran:) Iran mean land belongs to all Aryans in the world. Iran can be translated to Aaron, Aria, Aryan it all mean the same. about 3,000 years ago 4 Aryan tribes settled in Iran 1) germanic tribe called Ska later changed to "Saxon" or " Goth" they lived in eastern Iran spoke ancient Iranian language. Farsi is an Indo european language. 2) 2nd tribe was Azerbaijan they are Iranian origin not a Turkish when Iran was conquered by Mongols whom spoke Turkish forced most countries that they conquered to speak Turkish that's what happened to Azerbaijan also another country called " Turkey" they speak turkish not Turkish origin. 3) third Tribe are Kurd also called Meads" empire they are like cousin to Iranian they have been part of Iran over 3,000 years. 4th Tribe are Fars from Shiraz province. Persian Empire was the largest empire ever covered largest land mass included Asia and middle east part of Europe. Iran is one of the oldest Civilization neighbouring Sumerian Iran excelled in Science, math, First doctorate in the field of surgery and medicine, philosophy, poetry, astronomy, created chess how to defeat enemy, many more all these knowledge was passed to europe! Iran was originally called Persia by Greeks when they attacked Shiraz province they saw everyone spoke Farsi thy decide to call Iran " Persia" the western world believed Greeks. Persian means " Farsi Language" its not an ethnicity. Iranian choose Persian or Farsi as a common bonding language so all province can understand each other because some of them speak a different dialect. At the WWII Iran was on german side since Hitler loved Iran proud of Iranian " Aryan" heritage he ask Shah of Iran to change the name back to Iran shah agreed. Also When British empire rise to power with the help of us they used propaganda and forced Iran to give away its oil rich province to Arabs includes all Persian gulf countries on Arab side, Also cut off Afghanistan and Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from Iran, also Russia took away half of oil rich Azerbaijan.

IRAN was always called Iran since the beginning of the second Persian Empire the Sassanian dynasty some 2000 years ago. But even before that the Pishdadian dynasty and Kianian dynasty called it Iran some 5000 years ago. IRAN simply means the land of the Aryans which consisted of Persians, Medes (Kurdish), Parthians (Khorasanians), and many smaller groups such as Lurs, Gilani, Mazandarani, and many more. ARYAN is a Persian word many times used in Avesta the holly book of Zoroaster religion meaning MORAL & ETHICAL people. PERSIA is a Greek name used by them to call Iran. In 1930s Reza Shah the great officially put the world on notice through united nation that the True and official name of his country is IRAN not the Greek name of Persia.

18:25 It's important because supporting Ali was an early form of revolt against the Arab rule. Ali was one of the few Arab figures during the Islamic conquests who was against the Caliphs and believed he was the rightful ruler. 19:48 Azerbaijan was a province of Iran which most of it was conceded to the Russians under the Treaty of Gulistan after the first Russo-Persian Wars which resulted in defeat of Persians.

ok since you seem to be interested, some notes about persian langauge: Persian language is one among many IRANIAN languaes, such as Gilaki, Mazendarani, Lori, etc, and of course Persian. The term Persian (Farsi or Parsi) stems from a single province in South East provincecalled PARS. Historically, the first great Iranian empires (there were few) were from this region of Iran, the Greeks called Iraninans the Prses, later chnaged to Persians in English and with modifications in other European languages. Interestingly, the Iranians do not recognise this empire as Persian but as Achemenid empire, after the founder of the dynasty. After the Persian empire, we had Parthians and then Sassanids bith Iranian before the arab invation in 7th century. As for Persian language, it has long historical background, in short it was official court language in Sassanid dynasty adn gradually became the official national language. However, it does not mean at all, that non-Persian languages of Iran like Gilakis or Bluchis or Loris or Kurdish are not Iraninans. They are all dialects of a large class of Iranina languages. The only non-Iranian laguages are Turkish and Arabic; Turkik language and its various dialects in mainly Azerbaijan were the late commers during the Turkik presence and turkik empires in Iran, changing the language landscape in later perioids not going beyond the 13th century. They are all ancient Iranian people who spoke other dialects of Iraninan languages. In general all Iranian languages, including the Persian language belong to a larger family of Indo-European languages . The current persian langae is full of loan words from Arabic langage due to islamaisation of the country over 1400 years, and some turkish words, English, French and Russian words from modern times. Similarly you' find those languages influenced by Persians words; but these are loan words, for example Television in Iran comes from French. One must relaize that loan words are quite common in all languages, but when we say a language is related to another one or another group we mean the roots and structure of the langaues are related like branches of a tree to the tree itself. In this sense, all Iraniann languahes (not only Persian) are related to the laguage of Northen India, Armenia, Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Western Asia and to European langaues such as German , English and others in Europe.

Brief history of how Iran came to be. A group Indo-Europeans calling themselves Aryans (Indo-Iranians) settle in the Iranian plateau around 1000 bc. At times the nomadic, tribal and horse riding Iranian (Aryan) tribes raided the nearby civilizations of Assyria and Elam, and at other times they were subjected by these civilization. The Medes, one of the Iranian tribes united all of the Iranian tribes and created the first Iranian empire. Legend has it that Median emperor had a dream that is interpreted as his daughter's son will take his throne. To avoid this he marries his daughter to a member of the Persian tribe because at the time the Persian were not very powerful. The daughter ends up giving birth to Cyrus the Great who takes over the throne from the Median emperor (his grandfather, who is kept as an advisor) and creates the much larger Achaemenid (Persian) empire. Iranian is like saying Celtic. Iran is like a country calling itself Land of Celts. Persian, Kurds, Azeris, Gilakis, etc. are like the Irish, Scotts, people of Brittany, etc. who are all Celts but have their own unique dialects and culture. So a person can be nationally Iranian but not ethnically Iranian like Iranian Arabs. A person can also be ethnically Iranian (Aryan) but not have Iranian nationality like Dari speaking Afghans.

Persians actually have a lot of ties with west. Language root is Indo-European (same as Dutch, German, portages). Majority of Iranians are not religious despite the government tries to show it that way.1979 Islamic revolution destroyed Iran's brand but Iranian people kept their own identity and culture and resist to Islamic laws. There is this misconceptions of mistaken Iran as "islamic" or "Arab" country. You need to be in it to get how different it is than what Media and Iran's government portrayed.

Iran always called Iran amongst its own native people well Ilam at the very beginning then Iran later on but Persia is the name Greeks gave it to Iran which is to due with only one region of Iran, Pars where Persepolice located (city of Pars people) and it is the name of our language also Parsi which later on called Farsi because of Arabs who invaded Iran couldn't pronounce the letter P so they inverted it into Farsi...but yeah Iran is the correct term for Iran which means land of Aryans (noble people). Reza Shah asked the forging delegates and league of nations to use the term Iran ("Land of the Aryans"), the endonym of the country, used by its native people, in formal correspondence on 1935.

@@bigballs7801 I see what you want to say. By "living a good life" I didn't mean anything related to economy, actually I meant that the jews in Iran are not refused to hide their religion and other people do not insult them for being jewish and if they want to do their religious cermonies they are free to do it and it's not illegal. In this video it was shown in a way like there is no freedom for other religions but Islam, while it's not true. I've seen people from diffrent religions here in Iran who are so proud to be Iranian and they're not refused to do their cermonies and other things which are required in their religion. All I wanted to say is this.

@@fatemehnaderi6787 you can't find any bible or other religions holy book in any book store or libraries, I don't know on what basis you describe it freedom of belief and thought. You don't have a clue about how this government using Islam religion as a pressure switch to control the whole system. They never let any other religion can freely spread their content and thought publicly.

21:25 it's all about politic man most of the religious countries around the world use the religion as a power to control the people and have their support. So would you let people fell for another religion book and loose their trust and support for their religious power? Of course not. This is how it works for most of religious powers as long as people follow that religion.

the important about caviar producing in IRAN is they don't have to kill the animal to get caviar ,like everybody else in the world, they have their own way of getting it without killing the fish as for alcoholic beverages, since 1979 we make the best vodka from raisin at home ,and beer with 7% up to 15% alcohol !! yes it's true because I used to make it with my dad at home in 80's!! 2 bottle and your good for rest of the day😍😍😋😋

When I say I am from iran I mean the country, when I say I am persian I mean the race. Iran is a wierd courntry because people with diffrent sorts like Arabic, kurdish, turkish and persian race are living together happily. persia is the ancient name of Iran I guess. and persian is the language.

Two important things you should be Know that help you understad complexity in politic and ethnicity First:You most completely seprate iran people from governmet For example iran people hate russia and north korea and venezuela governments (Not people of course) Second: Iran one of the biggest empires in the ancient world then it has many cultures and ethnics and religions live together ... today iran become smaller because of many wars in history therefore some of ehnicts like Azeries that live in iran and some of them live in Azerbaijan ...actually none of them did not move from their orginal places and fatherlands but new bounderies draw between them

We are not Arab. We are Iranian. When the Greeks attacked Iran about 2600 years ago named us Persian bcz some cities in Iran tlak Parsi and the national language is Parsi or Farsi. But we have people who are Iranian but they talk Azari, Kordish, Balochi, Lori and so on. We are all united and love each other and respect each other. We are all Iranian
