There is no "schwarz Butter" thats not German and you have to say "Ich möchte Brot mit (Erdbeer, Marillen,...) Marmelade."

If you use heute or any time reference at the beginning, you will have to invert the verb and subject. Remember, verb must occupy position #2 of the sentence. "Heute mochte ich ..........

Hi Sandy, I had also come up with the same question with some friends. "Ich möchte" is "I would like.." and "Ich hätte gern.." is "I (would) like to have..". People usually feel that "hätte gern" is more polite but it's very subjective
