GERMAN ENGINEER explains ONI: OAKSHELL and SANISHELL Ranching! Oxygen Not Included Spaced Out

BierTier explains OAK- AND SANISHELL RANCHING !
Today we are ranching OAKSHELLS and SANISHELLS! We will figure out how to get a ton of sand from SANISHELLS and also how to clean liquids from germs. On top of that we will get tons and tons of Lumber from OAKSHELLS!

ABOUT OXYGEN NOT INCLUDED:
In the space-colony simulation game Oxygen Not Included you’ll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth, and sustenance are constant threats to your colony's survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they're not simply surviving, but thriving...
Build Extensive Bases and Discover What it Takes to Survive:
Everything in your space colony is under your control, from excavation and resource allocation right down to plumbing and power systems. Resources will begin depleting with your first breath, however, so be sure to dig fast if you want to live.
Avoid Boiling with Thermodynamics:
Temperature control is a constant concern in space; too cold and you'll freeze, too hot and you'll fry. Keep tabs on ambient environmental temperatures and your colony's heat production to maintain a nice, cozy atmosphere for your colonists.
Enhance Efficiency through Complex Gas and Liquid Simulations:
Create interlocking pipe systems to swiftly deliver fuel and liquid to critical areas of your base. Plan well and be rewarded as your colony transforms into an imperishable, well-oiled machine.
Take Charge with Power Grid Simulations:
Choose from a multitude of power sources including coal, hydrogen, natural gas, or just plain old elbow grease. Manage power runoff, circuit overloads, and meltdowns to keep your colony running smoothly.

2:32 You have chosen to lock the top door instead of just setting the allowed direction to -> right only. Doing so will allow the trapped dupe to jump on the locked-by-automation door and leave through the top one-way door.

You are of course 100% correct, not sure how I missed that :)

Thank you. I think you're the first youtuber that mentioned fed oakshells produce 100kg molt per cycle :)

So, oakshells produce 100kg of mold per cycle at the cost of 70kg cycle of PD. So, ethanol distillers produce 1/3 of the lumber introduced back into polluted dirt. So each cycle they would offset some of their feeding cost (33.3) and they still make sand. Hmmm, they may be more interesting as I tought. The 4 distillers for a petroelum gen full uptime would produce enough for 11 oakshells, so you could run 2 more distillers and those distillers will still produce PD. I think domestic arbor trees+oakshells could make a completely water and dirt neutral cycle with tons of power produced, some sand, and carbon dioxide wich could be fed into slickters. I'll definitely give them a try.

In theory you could make the top door of the entrance exit only, incase a dupe is trapped in with 9+. Yes it is more system intense, but should be minor. Could also setup the eggs you want to drop near the sweeper that can put the egg in the incubator to cover the issue you mentioned. Means a bit more power, but should be minor. I think all the shells can live in a 2 high area also, so you could get more than 21 tiles of liquid if you wanted.

Great suggestion, that would certainly work! Love the idea :)

Seams like the best combo would be to ranch oakshells in fresh water. This way, the oakshells will shed lumber but lay mostly sanishell eggs which can then be "evolved" into food.

Can avoid stuck dupes by unlocking top entrance door and just filtering it exit only direction

Oakshells seem fun, but 100kg a cycle per Oakshell vs 333kg per cycle or 555g/s the Arbor tree comes out ontop, it also is less dupe labor intensive and is basically water neutral. Oakshells would be water positive but you can only feed 1 ethanol distiller per ~6 or 7 oakshells + dupe labor. Math might be slightly off, but still far far better to just keep the main Pokeshell and not even mess with the variants. Althought 1 Sanishell is = to 4 pacu, however I believe pacu farming is much easier and dupe independent.

@@BierTier I'm hoping they do some changes with Oakshells and Sanishells, maybe give sanishells plastic shells - Have oakshells drop a little bit more. Right now 5 Arbor trees is 4 ethanol distilleries and 1 constantly running Petro Gen. I am extremely excited they are adding more critter variants, ranching is my favorite thing to do. Cuddle Pips are my favorite >. I would like to see a refined metal version of the Plugslugs or a Coal to Diamond or something unique! Keep up the great videos :))

Apparently 1 sanishell equals 4 pacu. With polluted dirt and slime being the bottleneck to a proper build.. (can mix pacu with sanishell together) I am trying to feed 90,000 calories to the tree per cycle with surf n' turf. It's one reason I'm here lol. Have one ranch of shovel voles and one of sanishells might give me the ability to knock that off. And finally not have to deal with the headache of such slow isoresin production.

They do in the half-starved farm. It shows "Overcrowded". It's in the video, but just very briefly.
