    Just started playing ONI, and have a question about this set up. As far as I understand, A single pump can only support 5 dupes, how would you cram the 5 pumps needed for the 25 dupes (first form of the hydra)?

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier19 сағат бұрын

    You can always make the area bigger to fit as many pumps as you need to match the output :)

    Lets help the algorithm a bit Another wonderful stream. Why would you duplicate the Bammoth farm because you have some over production of ethanol? The main reason you made the farm was for the fiver production, but you have Drecko's now. The other reason was the insane amount of meat they produce, but food isn't really an issue anymore. Better to store the little bit of current over production in an infinite storage like you suggested since you don't have a steady way of producing it besides the wood to ethanol process. The seals produce less than the max consumption so you're basically running a deficit when all the pockets run dry. There are plenty of cautionary tales about saving up for the future, even if the future is so so far away you might not even reach it during this play-through 🤣

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier2 күн бұрын

    Thanks, a little push for the algorithm never hurts ;) The only reason I briefly considered expanding the Bammoth farm is for the Patty, which produces Phosphorite, which we need to keep our Floxes alive. That was just a brief idea though and I will have to see if that will actually happen. On fibers and food, we are definitely good. But yes, we also have more than enough wood to produce a lot of ethanol in no time if needed :) For now, it will go into storage, that's for sure.

    Great stream again, keep up the good work! It's indeed a good idea to place both these sciences on one belt. Get that oil and make some blue science as it's the gate keeper to bots. Do finish millitary science though as those critters will keep spawning bigger nests next to your squishy base you want to be prepared... Maybe next thursday I try to stay up late to watch live.

    7:18 grab mod called "customize geyser", you can add your own custom vulcanos there, that have fixed outputs. set it to whatever is the max output for this kind of vulcano, so you can test worst case, or in general tinker with stuff, or have some fun with something stupid like magma volcano that release 7000'C stuff. I guess we can play with ammount, on output side to get perfect temp. 3kg for alu, 10 for tungsten, 4 for copper,gold & iron

  • @BierTier

    Thank you, I didn't know about this mod! That sounds awesome to test stuff, and I definitely need to check it out :) But yes, this tamer should work on any possible ingame output with any metal volcano(except Niobium), the design is setup for different amounts and even different cooling fluids. I had one running with salt water instead of polluted water, still works due to the customizable output :)

    The middle two lead out into some sort of storage or other use, you are extracting that water. The sensor is set to whatever lowest it can go with your choice of cooling fluid. Polluted water in my case, so it is set to -5C!

    Not sure if it gets mentioned later as I'm about 1 hour in watching the stream back; But whenever you create a storage or warehouse, you can actually already pre-pick what type it needs to be before it is build. That way you don't have to forget to do it later!

    Only about an hour or so into the VOD at this moment in time but there are 2 mods you should really look into for streaming this, 1 already mentioned in chat is Long reach that will expand the zone you can reach things obviously 😉. The other is called Afraid of the Dark i believe and all it does is cosmetically make the night less dark so viewers can see more clearly what you're doing. It doesn't change the way for example solar panels work.

    Just done watching the second half2:43:18 "So far it was really not to hard" Lol, you've no idea what's ahead! The sise of the different science builds almost go up exponentially. Notice the reccipy of copper cable, it gives two cables per build. So the three copper cable assemblers can provide two green circuit assemblers.. There were probably some people excited to see you place the three copper cable assembleres, but disappoointed to see only one green circuit assembler. Almost nailed it! 3 to 2 is the way to go and don't forget you can direct insert items from assembler to assembler. Last second you find out that we've been watching in the dark unnessacerally. BTW If you want a Biertier RGB lightboard, you're gonna have to research some stuff first. I do agree with chat that the trees have been helping you alot evading the natives, but if you want to clear them faster reserarch grenades and one explosive uprade. It works on trees as well as on biters. Just dont throw them to close to yourself! Until the next stream!

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier13 күн бұрын

    "So far it was really not too hard" was meant as a "I expected the start to be harder and I got further than I thought I would be", haha. I do see how the requirements go up insanely fast though. You almost need to have a plan from the very beginning, connecting everything together later gets very messy, as we already see with the inserter assembler... Regarding the ratios, I didn't pay much attention to it since I was mainly trying around with the long arm inserters to see if it worked how I thought it would. Knowing that 3 to 2 is what I need will be helpful for sure though! And yeah, I wish someone had mentioned the lights muuuuuch earlier, haha :D I may have to rethink my relationship with the trees, we will see... Either way, I appreciate your tips and insights! See you next time!

    R here, had to go to bed yesterday. Watched your stream halfway for now. Nice to see you picked up Factorio and decided to play vanilla. For one I enjoy seeing people playing these games blind (even if you've peeked a bit) as for myself I aalready got 5400 hours done in this game. For now let's hope you stay away from other peoples blueprints and tutorials. As one in chat apptly stated: "We are the tutorial!". That said, you are doing just fine. Just keep on trying and refining as you mentioned. Chat will help. Biters and cliffs are the true enemies. Trees are only minor inconvinience in comparison, but can be a blessing and a curse in the early game. Same with rocks, you'll find out later. I'll watch the rest of the stream later and write a second comment. Hope you continue this play, so I catch you next stream.... awake. Have fun!

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier13 күн бұрын

    Hey R, thank you for checking out the stream! I agree 100%, you guys are the tutorial. I will refrain from watching other people's tutorials and see what we can come up with together instead. I think, that way it will be more fun for me and for you all. Just using a prebuilt "something" and plopping it in definitely takes away from the engineering aspect of this game as well as from my channel. So, that is the plan going forward. I'm sure there will be some failures along the way, but that is inherent to engineering as a whole as well :)

    I run into the SPOM issue you have @5:09:24 almost every time they are made. The only other solution I was able to come up with besides sending the gasses out of the SPOM was to run a duplicant back and forth between the doors until H2 was in all 6 of those squares. The cut tool has saved me soo many times. Probably one of my favorite QoL additions they have made!! Always glad to watch to learn more about this game! Goodluck!

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier13 күн бұрын

    That was really my mistake. I was focused on other issues and forgot to build the vent to ensure the gases were separated properly. But hey, that's part of the game and nothing that can't be fixed :) And yeah, the scissors are definitely most important!!

    I know this vid is a year old but what’s the purpose of the liquid reservoir? Most builds I don’t see it and you didn’t really specify. Thanks!

  • @BierTier
    @BierTier23 күн бұрын

    The liquid reservoir is technically not required, but can help in a couple different ways. For one, it has an increased thermal mass, so if something should go wrong(power outage), you will not be stuck with hot fluid in the pipe instantly. Another benefit is future expandability, since the required resource(polluted water for example) is already there. I implement one in all my tamers and heat deletion devices of any sort. Has come in handy many times :)

    When you give the amount of power hydra's hydrogen generators, do you take into account that running pumps and electrolyzers isn't free? Is the power they use already subtracted from your numbers?

  • @godfreyofbouillon966
    @godfreyofbouillon96624 күн бұрын

    You have one pump for oxygen and one for hydrogen in your first hydra setup (3 electrolyzers). Whats the point of having 3 electrolyzers (oxygen 888 * 3 g/s) when you pump out less than one electrolyzer's output worth of oxygen (500 g/s)? Edit: nvm I see others already noticed this

    I never take dupes with the "starts with skill" traits, as skill scrubbing removes the free trait (unless they fixed it), so if you ever need to do that then you now have a dupe with no positive traits. Good luck!

  • @BierTier
