    THEY ARE THE FULANI A NILOTIC TRIBE THAT KEEPS THEIR RACE PURE, THEY CELEBRATE THIS CEREMONY AFTER THE FIRST RAINS, SINCE THEY ARE NOMADIC AND DEPEND A LOT OF THE RAINS. IN THIS CEREMONY THEY WEAR THEIR BEST AND SHOW THE WHITE OF THEIR EYES AND TEETH. MARRIED WOMEN CHOSE THE MOST HANDSOME OF THEM TO HAVE AN AFFAIR. IS A NORMAL THING AMONG THEM. I HOPE THEY KEEP THIS CUSTOM ALIVE.

    No lol you're fine. It's your own right & quite frankly, no other reason is required not knowing even 20 cultures of the many around the world is no strike against you. I find it Decent of you to express your reaction brother. I'll reference a more familiar source of cultural likeness. for instance, Japanese folk art is well preserved & globally known for their face paints interpretive dance & stark facial gestures.

    So is this dance to attract women by their beauty or to show they’d be intimidating partners? Do the faces serve a purpose?

  • @evitta11

    @evitta11

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, men use enormous amounts of time, energy and money to become pretty, handsome, beautiful and attractive to please women and to be selected by a women. And yes, the face painting are also very important. The dances play different roles. The Yaake dance shows that that male dancers strive to imitate the grace and elegance associated with the long-legged white cattle egret, attempting to harness the power of the bird. The Roome dance is simulate the dancing of beaufiful cranes while they’re trying to find a mate. All about Wodaabe I can find in the book of Mette Bovin “Nomads Who Cultivate Beauty: Wodaabe Dances and Visual Arts in Niger”, ISBN 978-91-7106-467-7.
