Gerard, Garni And The Symphony Of The Stones
AMAZING ARMENIA; Gerard, Garni, And The Symphony Of The Stones
Join me on my first day of traveling through Armenia to some of the most magnificent places I have ever visited.
Our first destination is Gerard, where we visit an amazing Church carved into a cave during the 4th century.
Then we proceed to Garni, a thousand-year-old Greco-Roman Temple, where the Pagan Armenians would hold strange rituals and human sacrifices.
The next stop is the Symphony of the Stones, a breathtaking place where the natural beauty leaves you speechless.
We meet some locals, that immediately take the chance to demonstrate the fantastic Armenian hospitality and end this journey with an Armenian feast fit for a king.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Central & Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakuski and join me as we visit the amazing country of Armenia and explore the sights of Gerard, Garni, and the Symphony of the Stones.

@eltenda Hi! The mention of your comment is very fascinating to me, Ty. Yes, the island off Venice is called "The island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni," & is just a few hundred meters from Lido di Venezia where the historic Armenian Monastery is founded. The whole of the Island is Armenian & is still in operation today. I know that there are some, organised day tours to the island also & I've been to Venice, but never managed to visit this site. I would love to visit the island with a group of friends & pay for lodging to be able to spend a few nights there. Wishful thinking? But I'm Armenian & have researched this & know of who to contact for details, so✌! It would be a wonderful trip of adventure, sight seeing, knowledge & hopefully some night time group camp-fires. I would also gladly love to experience any paranormal spooky haunts, which is expected in such historic places?! It would be so thrilling! 👻😉 ps: I'm intuitive to these senses & have had some experiences, but never in such places. haha
Gyumri is the best and most silent place Go to my city and enjoy

Great video mate. Keep up the good work ⚡️
Your are a wonderful man.
the second one was not a bread, sweet one, it is armenian Gata
A small correction: "Գեղարդ" (geghard) doesn't translate to "monastery" but to "spear" (it's a type of spear). The monastery got its name from the legend you mention in the video․ The full name of the monastery is "Գեղարդավանք" (geghardavank), which translates as "Monastery of (the) spear". Good stuff, otherwise!)

And one more small correction: Armenia became Christian in 301 AD, not 331 😊 Great video!
Armenia became the first country to establish Christianity as its state religion when, in an event traditionally dated to 301 AD, St. Gregory the Illuminator convinced Tiridates III, the king of Armenia, to convert to Christianity.

What are you saying, Justin?! What a human sacrifices ?! To find something like that you should go back for 6-8 millenia of the Armenian history. Even during the history of Van kingdom, which was actually the reign of Aram dynasty, you wouldn't find any notion on it. Moreover during the subsequent dynasties of the Yervandids and Artashesides, when the Garni temple was erected.

Until 1917, the brandy "ARARAT" was called "SHUSTOV" after the Russian merchant Shustov, who invented this brandy based on local grapes.

ok for english speakers you know Geghard Mousasi the MMA fighter ?? the name of the monastery is pronounced the same way as his first name ..as for the Garni Temple its a Mithraic temple (no human sacrifices)...you remember in the movie Gladiator where Commodus tells Marcus Aurelius "I shall sacrifice a 100 bulls"..??? well that was made to Mithra or in Armenian Mihr...you can see Mithraic temples throughout all Europe (including France and Italy) and throughout the middle eastern countries formerly known as provinces of the Roman Empire ...Mihr or Mithra was a very popular diety among Roman Legioneres and the altar you were standing near was where a golden statue of Mithra or Mihr used to stand...cheerio old bean
