    Remarkable poise by the Georgia anchor to let 2 runners pass him waiting for the home stretch to run them down, outstanding!

    @@wayneegli8379 I've watched Sumner since HS, I know he can put together a reasonable 400m. I just don't think he would beat a 100m/200m guy to 200m.

    Anchor leg I think Will? Ran that like an 800! insane!! When he let them pass him up he knew he with confidence he was gonna just use his endurance at the end to beat them. I've never seen that before in a 400! Doing that with half the race to go takes some guts.. especially when you already running so fast!

    Sumner is so fast at the 400m as an 800m runner he could probably double compete that freaky 400/800 double.World level I've only seen one runner in my lifetime ever do it for double gold and that was Alberto Juantoreno.It's a rare double like the 200/400.I don't know what his split was here but the Dawgs total time was 2nd fastest in NCAA History so it has to be 44 mid-ish

  • @No_One1_Special

    @No_One1_Special

    Жыл бұрын

    I’ve heard Sumner’s split was 44.8, but, yeah, I agree with you. I think if Will can get his 200m time around 20 mid and continue strength and volume training, he’ll be capable of running Juantorena type numbers of 44 low for 400m and 1:43 low or better for 800m. Hopefully he’ll stay injury free. He’s a good dude, too, so he’s easy to pull for.

    great race by Georgia, but why is nobody asking about the lane violation by Alabama at the first exchange? Alabama is in lane 5 and their runner taking the baton is clearly in lane 6 all the way thru the third turn where they make the break to the rail, and even there was the only time when he was in the correct lane and he cut too early for the rail! or do they allow that now? at the very least tell me i am seeing something completely wrong!
