The presence of mind from Smael Mondon Jr. (#2) was fantastic... he alerted his teammates to the situation, then helped set up that nearly-uncontested return by Christopher Smith II (#29). Just another element that makes Georgia Bulldogs a top-tier team!

@@PoochieCollins Don't think he was faking. At 0:12 Mondon says don't then at 0:16 he says to run. Between those 4 seconds, he can see he's looking towards the ref and LSU players. If the LSU players were near, they wouldn't have run it back because they'd likely not get it at the line of scrimmage, but since there were none, they both knew Chris could run it back.
@zeked4200

I don't think Mondon was saying "don't go"...I think he was signaling "no good" like a lot of his teammates were doing too. Either way, I really don't think he "alerted his teammates to the situation" or set up the return. Most of them didn't even notice until Smith had already sprinted past them, and nobody was within 10 yards of him until he slowed down entering the endzone LOL That was all Smith...if you're going to talk about "presence of mind" give the credit where it's due.

Thanks Eli Wilson for being the one person in these comments talking sense and using logic. Yes coaches do coach/teach players different situations and how to react to it but this is a rule every D1 athlete already knows. They simply just fell asleep and forgot about it. Their heads weren't in the game. And for what it's worth they do practice this shit and go over how to react when this happens. Zero chance they haven't run scenarios such as this one in past practices.
It is amazing that the special teams guys for LSU don't know the rules.
I'm a Dawgs fan, and, I saw this play when it happened. I said """"WHAT ? WHAT ? How is that possible ? I've never seen THAT play before !!!""" My husband laughed and asked (really knowing what actually happened) """What was THAT th't just happened ?"" I said, """A Touch down - we just got a Touch Down !!!""" As I stated, I have never seen that play happen before, so, I never knew it could be done.
