For some reason they keep bringing hack writers in to write these modern takes. I don't understand it at all. I guess because honestly we've had the same problems for almost a century. The only thing new is more social progression. So instead of adding depth they slap superficial things on top of it. Instead of showing the struggles of gay people or trans people they just shoe horn those people in and give their character a shallow story and stuff. I just don't understand what happened to writers? Where did they go? Why have we stopped producing great minds?

The Star Wars situation is so strange to me, the showrunners call the fans racist/sexist, while I'm sure there are some of those the majority of star wars fans don't care what race/gender/sexuality appears in your show, it's a whole galaxy put whatever you want in there, hell we'd love to see more alien characters, why so many humans? My problem is obviously the writing, it's fucking abysmal, and it really pisses me off that I get called racist and sexist for disliking ass writing in one of my favorite ips. And then the sexuality thing, I don't care if the character is gay, but also why is sexuality so important in star wars? There is one romance in episodes 4,5, and 6, and one in the prequels, all this gay/not gay shit doesn't matter, nobody watches star wars for romance.

I don't think there's anything strange about it. The people working on these productions are so self-centered that the audience they're creating for are simply themselves. Because they like their own writing, they like the ham-fisted romance plots for same sex couples. And if someone like you says that the writing has suffered and the show is not enjoyable, it gives them carte blanke for labeling you. These are productions created by people who have never taken criticism without being offended by said criticism and who always think of themselves as the greatest artist ever born.

Most fans don't care if it's a man or a woman, black or white, as long as it's good story-telling, adheres to the lore, makes sense for the location (don't give me a black samurai and insert rap music for feudal Japan). These writer's who keep trying to take over other people's work, crap all over, and then re-write it as something else is just insulting. By black samurai I assume you're talking about the upcoming assassin's creed game and I genuinely don't understand why people are upset about it. There was a real African man who was brought to Japan and was given or sold to Oda Nobunaga. Was he really a samurai? I don't think anyone alive can be certain. But assassin's creed isn't a fully historically accurate game. Taking a real historical person and changing their role slightly to help with the story shouldn't matter, as long as the writing is good. The assassin's were created in Egypt according to AC origins. Yasuke (who really existed in japan) is a great way to have the assassin's order brought to japan. As long as they don't make him a daimyo or the damn shogun what's the big deal? It would be different if they were changing real historical or canon characters races/cultures/ethnicities. No one wants to see Ezio as anything other than Italian. But slightly tweaking the role a real person plays for a fantasy game shouldn't be an issue

The issue is these companies and writers think making a political point is equivalent to quality writing…. It’s not. There’s nothing wrong with including “diverse” characters or even bringing in politics or societal issues into a game, but a lot of these feel so forced, almost like the game or show was made just to make comments about socio-political issues. Which itself is fine if it’s an original work and it’s well written, but when you take something that already has a story written, like a book or game, it’s loved for a reason, people love the story as is, and the new author almost never makes it better. Many games have had diverse characters or mentioned political or even “social justice issues” without it feeling forced, Fallout New Vegas had two publicly gay companions and no one took issue with it, RDR2 references racism against black characters repeatedly and even has that scene where KKK members catch on fire, GTASA had a storyline heavily based on police corruption and elements of racism (which was an actual major issue within the LAPD)….. all these were done well but didn’t feel forced and complimented a great story/writing.

The difference between now and just a decade ago is night and day because it all comes down to priorities. We love entertainment universally because of what entertainment provides. What it’s core definition is. Escape! Our complacency allowed our escape to be hijacked by decision makers, and people being hired who prioritize relevancy. Who use IPs as extensions of their social media pages. Taking away that escape and instead satiating their own insecure, self-absorbed attention seeking for themselves and their agendas. It’s disingenuous and unnatural. It’s forced into a place where it does not belong. Entertainment is simple. It is a space for creative artist to unapologetically pursue imaginative creations. To explore creativity to access escape. It is what all of these old franchises new and made them so successful. Because we all appreciate and desire, authentic escape, a.k.a. entertainment. It is all the more needed, especially for the majority of us who have daily lives and routines and responsibilities and interaction with relevancy 24 seven every day. We need that hour or two of breath of fresh air, that limited window of escape and we need to continue to reinforce this message to these idiots in this entertainment industry that don’t even know what entertainment is and definitely not using it that way. Anyway ….. Thx for the vid and speaking to this topic legacy .

They prove all this with their actions. Notice their actions always goes counter to their rhetoric. "We need more women" always ends up with men being trashed. Understand that whatever they (Left) says, that they actually believe the opposite. Or at the very least, will have double standards so as to use as hate against their political opponents all the while accepting the same behavior when their side engages in it. How many times have they claimed to be against "hate", all the while spewing nothing but hate? They do this type of double speak constantly. They DON'T care about "diversity", its just the Trojan Horse they use to push their agenda (no Whte people).

@@Dayz3O6 pretty much that forced part is the issue, writers like in Rogue One, was able to create a believable and flawed female lead, she was great, it didn't feel forced, and it served the plot and it wasn't because she is female, but rather she being a daughter moves the story along, it helps create an connection with the other male leads, it didn't feel forced but rather acceptable. All they had to do is keep writing it like that, just like Andor, the female lead was great, it all feel logical and not forced at all. Just like in the Boys, the female actors in that show also didn't outshine the males leads, by putting them down, they each serves their purpose and it felt like it belongs. Many stories can introduce new characters, instead of making existing characters change race, they can introduce other races, instead of making a male character female, they can introduce new female characters. What they are doing right now is that they don't have the ability to do it, they lack imagination and the will to actual step up in creating great characters. Like in Dragon Age The Veilguard, instead of writing each character having their own likes and desires, they made them all Pansexual, the easy way out. It shows their lack of skill, and the willingness to just take the easy way out instead of actually developing a character. It is why people are against it, because we the audience knows when we are being forced to like something that we don't.

"Diversity" as the DEI lot put it, already existed BEFORE they started screaming and shouting about it. Same for "Inclusion". Both are needless words, used only to bolster the truly stupid one in the middle: Equity. That I reject out of hand. Equality of opportunity, yes. Equity of result? Never. That's socialism and Marxism and has never worked. Period. Diversity and Inclusion was already there. Go back 10 years or 20 years and check populations for a given area, then check the employment records FOR that area... and you'll find the same percentages of ethnicities or sexual orientations or whatever in those employment areas. So yes: the problem IS DEI. It's a marxist tactic used to undermine the West, and it's working. "Finding a way" to shoe-horn it in with good storytelling is ONLY going to keep making the matter worse. It should be laughed out of the door without pity nor remorse. Idiots who believe it should be told in no uncertain terms that 1) they ARE idiots for doing so, and 2) why that is so. Then we should simply get back to where we were 10-20 years ago and carry on. But we certainly should not be pandering to mentally unstable people who are demanding we living in loo-loo-laa-laa land with them.

She's portrayed in the movies as a much weaker and fearful character than the books do. - he creates the North Fremen vs South Fremen conflicts. None of that shit is in the book. - he completely changes Chani story and path, even tho in the book she's standing by Paul’s side supporting him in everything, even when he decides to marry Princess Irulan for political convenience. - he deletes Chani's first pregnancy with Paul having first son, Leto II, the elder, which is killed during a Sardaukar attack. - Paul's sister Alia is not even born even tho she should've while Paul and Jessica were living in the desert along side Fremen. - He made Paul kill The Baron instead of Alia like in the book. And many more. Yet he states "My goal was to be faithful to Herbert"?!!! DEFUCK?? MAKE IT MAKE FUCKING SENSE!!!!

I disliked Lucas' management of the IP because i didn't think he was choosy enough. At this point I would love to see the IP bought out and whole-sale placed into creative commons. When the identity of the actors become more important than the characters they are playing you’re doing something wrong. Go listen to the interview of Natalie Portland on Star Wars. You will always hear her refer to her character as she and her. That’s because she would divorce herself from that character. Then go listen to modern interviews. Go listen to the acolyte woman interview. The actors and actresses always say I and me. I went into the room. I grabbed the light saber. Not she grabs it. Reason for that is because they build characters around the real life identity of actors. When they should be building the actors around the characters like they used to. They now pick actresses then build the characters. Unless they just use an already made character, and then swap them for a women or black and clap at themselves. Even the creators now can’t help but inject their biases and real life issues into everything. This is why I only enjoy eastern entertainment these days.

The thing that frustrates me the most about what’s happening to Starwars is that prior to them forcing things under the umbrella of “Legends”, Disney had multiple books, Comics, and Video game story-line that they could have adapted. They had a literal roadmap of events and new/old characters covering decades of in-universe time. Shoot, if they wanted to go into the history of the franchise they could have done a live action Old Republic show They actively have chosen to make a mess of things

Dune? seriosuly? the new films are a joke, they are only following the books loosely, if you want a good Dune adaptation the 2000 "mini" series is the best one.

Watching the new Alien trailer something stood out. When we were kids, we didn't need movies to cast people our age to go see them. Other than Goonies. Movies had adults in them. Wrote by adults. With adult brains. Adult wisdom. Adult creativity. Ability to make adult decisions. The current pandering to immature emotionally desparate childish short-sightedness and lack of true creativity and vision is destroying entertainment. We need adults back in the room that will tell the other irresponsible overgrown children no, we are not going to do that. Or if necessary, you're fired.

🤣 I was reading those paragraphs on the Rings of Power and saw something that made me chuckle. 'Are you implying that Gandalf is in fact a Maiar'... Yes. Yes he is. He was always a Maiar, and always will be a Maiar. Those that have knowledge of the lore know this. His Maiar name is Olorin, and his Patron Valar is Manwe. One thing I don't understand about Rings of Power is why they had to bring in Gandalf in this... this show is set in the Second Age, and the Istari show up in the Third Age, with Gandalf being the last. I don't watch the show simply because they are butchering the lore so much that I don't really recognize it as anything but fanfiction at this point... no... not even that, since fanfiction would imply a fan wrote the script 😞

The sad thing is they have all these great franchises and still fumble the bag. They don't even use the new lore that they established or even know it.
