Just stumbled across this video but thank you for taking time to tell this story👍🏼
Great, great historical report... well done my friend!!!
Hey bro... keep making videos. You have a real chance to get big doing this. I was extremely surprised that this video was made by someone with less than 200 subscribers because of the quality of the video and the way you speak.👍 Edit: oh shit he hasn't made a video in 2 years... he already gave up 😔
Very well told brother .. I love fishing and I love history ..hope you do more videos like this
Wow my biggest is 11,3lbs, and still fishing for the monsters, thx for the video
You should do one on dalehallow about the 12lb small mouth

Good idea!
Thanks for this story. George Washington Perry was my Great Grandfather. I've heard the story when I was really young from GPA Bob , Georges second son. You mentioned in the video about the photo that is circulating with the little boy in it? That little boy is GGpa Georges first son, Charles (Chuck). GGpa George went on to run a pool hall. He also made moonshine and made a bit of profit off of that.

That’s awesome! Thanks for the info!
I live and grew up fishing the river where the record was caught. The ocmulgee river is one of the only places where Northern strains and Florida strains have naturally hybridized. The river is mainly fished by catfisherman and panfishermen and so it remains a top notch bass fishery if you can unlock it.

@GMarshfishing oh yeah, I have caught 7 over 10lbs in my area. I hate south georgia summers so I only fish the ocmulgee in march/April...but those are the best months anyways lol.

Sounds fun!
I loved it
Great video! Couldn't even imagine catching a 22.4 pound bass. My PB of 16 pounds was the best day of my fishing life so far. It would be cool to see the World Record broken but I just don't see it happening.

They made a replica for him at some point. Would’ve been awesome if there was KZread back then!
23" bass that's 9lbs is a fatty! My current PB largmouth is 11.4 sh was 26.25 inches long & 17.5 inches in girth. I saw a guy catch a 13 pounder out of same lake the year before so I know it has big ones in it!
I love the cat chirps in the background hahaha
What lure/bait did he use ?

Find out more about what an Oxbow lake is and how they are actually formed over time, and a few other facts that weren't quite on par with the story... the reason why he and Page even went fishing that day was it had been too rainy and wet to plow anywhere and it was a very cold wet spring in South Georgia in 1932.
No wind I'm a kayak bass guy wind has no purpose for me other then push me in circles

Honestly things like that did happen back in those times more often than we realize. I know my gga George was no saint. But a killer? I doubt that..
I believe it will be broke again, these southern states like Florida and so on house these big bass, there in there, some one may have already caught one and they never weighed it, maybe not in my life time, but it will happen.it won't be in artificial,I can tell ya that!😉
Sponsors? For what catching a big fish? Lol I dont think you get really anything for catching a state and or world record bass, but alot of media attention for an hour or 2 then you'd go back to work the next day
Where's George's 🚜🐖farm?...

A bass in Georgia wouldn't have eggs in June..

I have thought that for years UNTIL I looked up the weather records for the Spring of 1932 in South Georgia... Wet, cold, rainy... female bass also don't drop their eggs all at once because they are not ripe all at one time...

i've cleaned plenty of bass in june which still had eggs.
