George Michaels voice is always studio album quality when he's singing live....... very rare for a performer to be that good.

@charlesbjtown, thank you for pointing that out. I saw @margie beard comment that same goes for Linda Ronstadt but it is amazing how consistently excellent George Michael’s voice is, live vs studio no difference at all!

Great point! Probably why I rarely enjoy live shows. We're so used to studio production sounds that the live version sounds like bad karaoke. I actually prefer them lip synching during live guest appearances as opposed to belting out a different version of the way I preferred. Either that or sing like you do from your albums/records or whatever it's called nowadays.

Same here. Met him in Ibiza with my mate in a bar in San Antonio. Chatted for about ten mins, great guy, said he was working there. We never let on that we knew who he was. Just a group of lads chatting. A couple of months later Club Tropicana came out. The video was fimed there in ibiza and that was his work. Btw a group of girls gathered in the bar while we chatted, me and my mate were totally aware of them, he didnt blink an eye. Years later it made sense when he came out. Saw him on his '25' tour. Along with Micheal Jackson at Aintree, Rod Stewart who ive seen at few times and Simply Red , they all sounded just has good live.

Rod Bender he was shy in some situations yes and small crowds made him nervous for instance Prince Wiliam asked him to sing at a Luncheon or some small gathering for a few hundred I am not sure and he said he had to say no because he can sing for millions especially his audience but a small crowd kinda made him nervous I am the same speaking in class freaked me the hell out so bad that in high school the last couple years I almost failed English because of when he had to do spoken Oral book reports in front of the class he also had a DJ Job at a country club as a teenager and even though he was behind a screen he still broke out in sweats his hands were all sweaty and he was just nervous I think he kinda got used to it I mean till they fired him for the music he tried to play and also I think because he did not wear a tie like it matters when nobody sees him behind a thing

@Gorgeous George lm not disagreeing with you , I did a lot of reading on it because I couldn’t understand that George wasn’t gay when he started his career, I read he dated lots of woman , I think he was very confused ,everything I read said they didn’t have any answers to why people are gay , so we never know why , don’t think it really matters , he was born with greatness !!!!

You can’t compare these two greats. Smokey was already a legend and had his own distinctive style. George Michael was on his way to greatness. He was truly a genius writing amazing songs at such a young age. He was brilliant and I dearly wish he was still with us. I love both of these great singers. At least Smokey is still here. George Michael left us far too soon, but what a gift he gave us of incredible vocals and beautiful lyrics.

Yes you can and should compare them. Robinson’s voice was decent in the past (but never anywhere close to Michael’s), but was basically gone here. He sounded terrible.

@@theophilusconnor oh please! These are two great singers, each with their own unique style. Smokey’s voice was not gone here. He has his own voice and style of singing, as does George Michael. I celebrate both of them. I grew up listening to Smokey Robinson and I will always adore and respect him.

Beautiful Beautiful!!! I heard Careless Whispers many years ago and I didn't know the name of the song until one day just about two years ago. I asked the person what's the name of that song, the tune is Beautiful. I was on the train headed uptown to 125th Street. I put it on my phone and was able to keep track of it. George Michael did a great job with his song " Careless Whispers" . I really love that song. Now a day or so ago Smokey Robinson spoke about how he loved the song and I listened to it and then I couldn't stop listening to it. That just put the icing on the cake for me. We love George Michael. He's always been a good person and wonderful talent. I also heard George Michael sing one of The Temptations songs at a Concert on line singing "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and I really like what he did with that song. Very nice.

George Michael is one of the best singers in the music industry. Now let's go back to 1984 when the song came out, a lot of people say no one can sing this song better (from George Michael) I think if Michael Jackson had sung it it would have already made me shiver just imagining Michael Jackson singing it that year 1984💯⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rest in peace to the legendary George michael & the King Michael jackson 🙏 💙 ❤ 🙌 💔
