George Lynch's "Mr. Scary"
Музыка
Respectfully submitted as a tribute to George, I've made every attempt to create a definitive, end-to-end performance of the original recording. This was quite a bit of work (to say the least).
This song has wowed and inspired me for years. THIS IS ALL ME. I recorded all backing tracks and programmed all the drums (in GarageBand).
While I am proud of this performance, it pales in comparison to the incredibly creative prowess of the real Mr Scary who brought this wonderful tour de force to us all.
I hope you enjoy it.

Spot on!! Dude rocked this!!
Hy from France Excellent Job Very good sound Keep on Rockin'
Simply incredible.....
BRILLIANT!! =) If I didn't have the video up, just the sound, I would totally have been convinced it was Lynch. I grew up with Dokken. So, this is very fun to hear again. =)
God damn!!!!!!
Amazing job! This is now the definitive version of Mr. Scary on KZread! Love the vibrato and phrasing! Every note is played with intent, conviction, and executed impeccably!
wow!!! great job G..
Awesome job sounds very good thanks 👋
Incredible job!!
Awesome
You're the Real Deal. So many guys put videos on here of them attempting to play that song, and they NEVER play it right. 'Nice job! ('Nice guitar too)...
Really nice job & you have the tone going too
I'm surprised the guitar did not spontaneously combust. Nice. Very Nice.
Spot on :)
10 outta 10 !
@RhoadsLynch Thank you - VERY much! It's real connoisseurs like yourself that I am shooting for the stamp of approval from. Kind regards, George
Thank you very much. Don't go off and curl up - grab that thing and RIP! That's what this is all about: inspiring one another. Have a great 2011! George
Holy mother! George would be MOST proud! The tone, phrasing, pinch harmonics, etc. are ALL spot on! And what I find cool is you are what I like to call a "sleeper shredder", someone who you would never think could shred on guitar by looking at them. Now that you made me sick, I'm going to go throw up now. Excellent job!
BEST COVER ON YT!!!!!

Minotauro Di Chieti wow, thanks! I am considering re-doing it with my Eventide pitch factor pedal and the original track with the leaf removed.
your post from 6th Nov 2010 just made me so happy not only was this a devastating cover but I've learnt loads of lynch and regularly struggled with what's tabbed not sounding right even my ten year old new it so had to rely on ear! popped a lynch style solo on before Xmas George lynch style Stuart Norman hope you like it happy new year
Dude from one Lynch fan to another....That was badass! I loved it!
Just clicked on this from the Lynch forum. To be honest, I have watched every cover of Mr Scary on KZread and this easily the best. You really nailed the original feel of the solo where most others failed. Excellent work sir, excellent.
Amazing
Nicely done 👍👍👍
Sweet Mary, mother of Jesus.... Dude, you NAILED that!! I've seen some pretty good attempts at this piece on KZread, but this is hands down the best. Tone quality, backing tracks, artificial harmonics, the whole enchilada. Well done, sir. VERY well done. Well, I guess I have to go curl up in the fetal position and cry myself to sleep now. I can't decide whether to practice or to quit playing. LOL!!
@johnconnollyguitar Thanks dude! I am stoked that you enjoyed it. :-) G
I had to come back and watch it again lol. Very gracious, humble, and talented guitarist. Thanks for the amp info as well. \m/\m/
Nice man! Cheers!
@penos1ty Thanks man! The setup is rather anticlimactic, to be honest. The amp is a Line6 Vetta II, modeling two amps in a stereo split: an" '02 Angel P-Ball" (drive 7, bass 3, mid 6, treb 6, pres 6, vol 6) and an "'87 Brit Gain" (drive 7.5, bass 3 , mid 6, treb 3, pres 5.5, vol 5.5) there's a touch of delay and an octave that I kick on and off. That's it! I do rely upon off-axis mic and the sound of the room (i.e. camcorder mixed with an SM-57). Nothing too high tech, just not overly gainy.
excellent tribute....really well put together and cleanly played.!!
I love his sound!
Getting your sound and notes so close to the original is very impressive. This is no easy task. Perhaps it's the most challenging work you've undertaken in transcribing and covering a masterpiece of this caliber. Even your fingerings are correct. Plus it looks like your video was one complete take. Keep up the amazing work and Thank you for sharing it with us!
Killer - great job! Pretty much spot on!
Totally awesome George! That's quite an accomplishment. I'm sure you're happy to have finished! I've checked it out a few times already and really enjoyed it. Congrats!
Best cover I've seen yet...great job!!!!
Out of all the Mr Scary covers Ive seen, this is the only one that comes close to reproducing the "Beast from the East" version. All the others seem to fudge certain difficult parts of the track, but that was a great job and nice to see you put in the extra effort to play it right. Great job.
That was brilliant!
OMG dude. That was amazing!!
really good job easily th best cover on youtube. Have u ever thought of doing lessons of more stuff your paris is burning lesson was very good.
That's badass!
Awesome job my friend, a real workout - congrats on your great work!
love it bro!!!!
This Song IS Not East to play, You did a Great work with this.
this guitar is sooo nice awesome playing dude =)
@aleishar Heya Aleisha! So glad you like the video! We should catch up soon. :-) G
Very nice execution. I enjoy watching other George Lynch influenced guitarists out there and seeing the competition! You capture technique, dexterity and feel very solidly! I hope you post more videos soon! If you have the time, check out my Lynch-esque vids...I tend to only play early Lynch from 1982-1991, only...your playing is very fun to watch and dissect. Keep up the great work!
perfect easily the best and most acurate cover on youtube. that sounded really good bro. im not sure if u have or not bt do u think u will be putting up and vids of lynch mob songs?
@guitaraddiction4life Thank you. That was a ton of work. Programming those blasted drums was no fun, either! :-)G
damn man dont want to turn into one of those kids thats always asking for tabs....but where did you get all the music for your lynch tunes like this and paris is burning there all perfect note for note if you figured em out by ear you got one perfect ear man
@dokkentribute73 Thank you, Dan. Means a lot to me coming from you - I really admire how loose and fluid your playing is. Hope you are well. G
Amazing job bro! your hands, fingers and even HEAD moves just like lynch himself! :P What are you playing over? It doesnt sound like the song, do you have a backingtrack? I havent found any good ones :(
Congratulations George!! It´s one of the best covers of Mr.Scary that I´ve seen so far. Perfect sound and tone. Your technique is incredible. I'm glad that you've achieved this good results after so much work. Is your Tiger signed by Lynch? ;) Impressive!!

@hairmetal04 It is the M1 Tiger. It's a great guitar. Like all full line ESPs, it's extremely well built. This one feels a lot lilke an older Charvel. Upper fret access is slightly limited (the old 22 fret neck/21 fret body deal). It's got a great lively tone as well. Honestly, I like the Kamikaze and the SB Tiger a bit better (larger treble cutaway, unfettered high fret access, two pickups, etc). Best, George
@RhoadsLynch Always welcome,my man. Hope my note finds you well.
@gbalulis Definitely! =D
at least he in tune with cd.perfect pitch!
Best cover on KZread! Anyway you could do a lesson on the solo parts at least?
@athlonen

George himself has a 3 or 4 part video here on KZread that goes over the solo parts, and talks about how he added 3rds, 5ths, and 7ths to multiple parts of the lead track, double stops, the flatted 5th, and most importantly, vibrato and tone. It's really in depth on how he did it.
I could never learn anything like this instrumental. How did you learn this dude?
@dokken447 Hey man! I appreciate your interest and compliments. I actually transcribe all this stuff myself by slowing it down on my iphone with an app called "Amazing Slow-downer". NEVER trust a magazine transcription or, frankly, even GL himself ,to show you his stuff; they never get it right, and he doesn't remember how he played it (yes, even his instructional videos are fuzzy/inaccurate). I have this on good authority from a mutual friend of GL and me. Best, G
This guitar is the M-1 Tiger right? I was thinking about getting one but i didnt know if its worth the money.
@gbalulis damn man you have godly ears than
George, what are you using for an amp?
@gbalulis

Hi Phil! Believe it or not, that was a Line 6 Vetta 2 - emulating, what I had researched to be, George's amp settings on the BFTA album. Take care, George

Not perfect, but definitely close enough man, if I heard that live, I'd clap with both hands and feet
