Whenever I watch that documentary about the creation of episode 1 I ALWAYS think about the interaction George had with Steven Spielberg in the desert. George is explaining about the big battle between the gungans and the droid army and it goes - George : It’s gunna be great Steven : that’ll be great George : it’s gunna be great Steven : that’ll be great George : it’s gunna be great Steven : that’ll be great That interaction has always made me laugh and I always wished some talented editor would edit the conversation so it never ended lol.

"Fear not," they seem to proclaim, "for the maestro himself orchestrates this symphony!" I think that GL has been heavily involved through DF since the sale on most aspects of what dave has been writing developing along the way. Those close mentor relationships are strong and lasting. GL doesnt have to 'come back' as creative practices are collaborative and can rely on outside chats/guidance . So guidance and checking things on storylines, plot, philosophy, is it correct this character would do X,YZ etc, over just informal chats, hanging out etc

I suppose we can call this episode “A New Hope”.

I'm worried it would end up being the same situation that is currently happening with Akira Toriyama's legacy. That George may pass on during production, and who will end up finishing the rest of his work. With what we know about Disney, I have my doubt that they will respect his unfinished work that he left behind if it were to happen.

I would only have two requests from George: 1 - Whether from Bob or Kathleen or whoever it may be, don't take directions from them. Don't accept "tips" from them. Trust your instincts. 2 - Work with talent and talent only. Jon Fraveau, Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard even. I'm not saying accept everything they say, but rather really consider their ideas. These are your peers now and they are the only ones that you should consider and share your ideas with.

I still believe he planned this all along. xD Think about it. He knew the prequels had some backlash and he knew Disney would mess up star wars even more so, and he decided to become even richer, while watching his prequels become more appreciated due to disney's bad writing and marketing. His stuff would look better in comparison, he'd be richer and then later on, people would call on him to be a consultant or creative supervisor, so it'd be like he'd be in control again, even if he technically doesn't own the property anymore.

I'm much more concerned about George Lucas' health & his old age now. It will be extremely depressing once he passes away & I really hope it's not for a long time!

Especially with the "or I walk" attitude. One of the reason the Prequels were flawed was because no one seemed to challenge George at all. He is a great creative mind, but as a director, a part from a few key scenes, he's not that great "do it better" "make it more" isn't clear on what he wants. He has had great actors Portman, Neeson, Lee all be wooden and dull in most of their scenes. There were so many hurdles in make 4 and 5, people to challenge him, including Marcia, while prequels were all 'oh it's gonna be great'

How to fix Star Wars: 1. Ignore the sequel trilogy and quietly decanonize it. 2. Recanonize the EU 3. Hire a Star Wars lore master 4. Create a sequel trilogy from an accomplished Star Wars writer working with George Lucas. 5. Hire an accomplished director who doesn’t hate Star Wars 6. Recast Luke, Hahn, Leia…etc 7. Write a movie trilogy detailing the rule of two centering on Darth Bane. Here we get a perspective of the Sith 8. Write a movie trilogy concerning Darth Plagueis 9. Print money!

I agree. When watching the Interview. And you can tell he was trying to watch what he'd Was saying? because he was saying if I would speculate so. I don't know. But I hope so.

But what does bringing him back really mean? He won't be in charge, he might direct the odd episode of something if he wants but other than that he'll be around to give advice which he already does anyway according to Filoni.

This is one of the longest, if not the longest franchise alive, which are still up today (in terms of speaking of making multi million dollar movies and shows about it) The fact that Star Wars is still so alive as it is, given the opportunity after 50 years, just shows the genious of George Lucas, all by it's own. If George Lucas was to return to Star Wars, I think he will serve more as a creative consultant or executive producer but with more input on how the film or series is made. I always viewed George more as an artist than director and Star Wars is his masterpiece. He knows what he wants in the worlds he creates and I respect him for that. I also admired his other works he created like THX-1138, Indiana Jones, and Willow.

TransFormers Producer (g1) Nelson Shin actually CREATED the Lightsaber design FOR George Lucas back in the early 70's and ALSO that is WHY Megatron and some others have been able to weild ENERGON-WEAPONS from their wrists that are pretty much.. LightSabers... but yeah.. Nelson Shin was the original designer of the Lightsaber or "LASER SWORD" as they once called it.

Josh brought up a good point: Roger probably just heard this from online rumors like the rest of us, which we have heard for a while. Roger probably didn't get "told" this in any official manner by any credible source. After all, he just said "I heard..." and then backed up and said "I may be prophesying..."

Honestly I can't really see George coming back in any capacity where he's going to be creating a whole film or series. He's almost 80 years old, just on that alone towards the end of his life I don't see him getting years deep into a Star Wars project after he's left it for so many years already.

Well that has me excited. Haven't said that about Star Wars in awhile.

When George sold or merged his Lucasfilms with Disney he got with his $$$ and + stock in Disney and he's made A LOT more since merging because he gets paid in all things Disney! Even the Marvel branded movies... So he's getting paid, and with this stock options and while he doesn't sit in a major part as the board on Disney he owns enough STOCK in Disney that he's one of the biggest holders and so when he says something they do take it to heart. Which makes you wonder how they let them screw up SW so badly since in the end of the day he doesn't have final say or say as he's not part of any of the actual productions anymore! Him coming back in signals to me that the stock holders and himself see how bad the Disney people are treating these franchises so he still has love for his babies and I hope him coming back is EPIC!

George coming back would be AMAZING: I think with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau having so much power in the Star Wars franchise, it is indeed very possible, since they both would give George Lucas the needed creative freedom.

Crap film, good story

My thoughts are he never should have left. He could've taken a step back and let Dave run it and get involved at moments he felt passionate about it.

Amazing, exciting news! I can't wait to see the imprint of Lucas' work on a new story from a galaxy far, far away!

I have thoughts, if he wants back he comes back if they respect who made it in the first place, I used to watch the behind the scenes of George approving different designs crafted for the characters like General Grievous, I just hope they listen if he gives feedback or if he has any creative freedom in anything hopefully they don't restrict him a lot. That's my opinions right there. 💯 May the force be with you, always!

Don't get fooled again. Hasn't Disney done enough damage?

If George does return with creative power over Star Wars, he NEEDS to have people around him who he can trust to help him iron out, strengthen, and even change his more wild ideas. When George is left without anyone to help him creatively, we get the Prequels, for better and for ill. When someone like his ex-wife helped him, we got the Original Trilogy.

Damn these negative comments like all hope is lost. Yeah Disney suck but we can’t lose hope 😞

George returning can't be a bad thing. Some of the newer stuff Dave Filoni did was very good, but George is the master.

If it's true that George comes back and have some sort of creative control with future projects, that would be amazing!

My thoughts from the announcement of the disney acquisition of the Star Wars IP was, "this could be great, George Lucas' stories with Disney's funding." Sadly, that wasn't the case and walking out of the theater with my son after seeing TLJ... the magic was dead, gone and I lost hope of seeing any more of George's stories

I wish Disney would do something where they split Star Wars and let the market decide what they want to see. You can have one side that's Disney Canon where they make what they want, and another side that the Lucasverse where its George Lucas given a blank check and Disney lets him to his own thing.

Disney won't do that. As things are, a large portion of the fan will pick Lucas either out of nostalgia or to spite Disney.

I want GL back but he’s gotta be ready to tell Disney to go f themselves when they try to meddle with his project. Not sure if he’s ready for that.

This is not a bad thing. George is at his best when he has someone steering him or is willing to say " Hey George, this might not be the best idea, Dial this particular thing back a little". The original movies worked because he had people over him keeping him sorta restrained.

I remember George sold the franchise not just for good amount of money but also in a good faith that Disney might have more resources to create large series of media art on their own, also back then people used to assume he's too tired and feeling old to make another trilogy. Boi we were all wrong about everything. We need him and people who worked close to him back in the galaxy far, far away...

I don't want George back. Disney shit the bed with Star Wars. They can lie in it. Let the man enjoy his retirement.

You don't sound like a true Star Wars fan because why would you not want George Lucas to bring the writing and stories back to the light and save the Star Wars Universe?

Theory…I love you….but you gotta understand that this Just isn’t possible….no way in 7 hells. The guy literally told you not to take it as written in stone or any assurances.

You're right to say nobody can tell George what to do, but I'm still ultimately disappointed that he didn't hang on to his original idea to make jar jar the big bad behind palpatine. He's a genius that the world doesn't deserve

Theory, I'm sorry. But he said that's "what I hear", "what I had heard" and "what i had read". Those comments didn't sound like George told him. I so wish George Lucas would come back because to me George Lucas is Star Wars. There is no Star Wars without George. As a big fan of George, he inspired me to want to be a filmmaker. And I couldn't think of anything better than if came back. But sadly I can't get past Roger's comments he "read" and "heard"

Theory George Lucas coming back would be an absolute blessing and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. And also screw the so called fake fans that insulted his work and that made him give his baby to Disney which ruined mostly of what we love about star wars . I'm really skeptical about watching the acolyte because that director insulted George's work so all I can say is I'll see.

I loved season three of the Mandalorian! Actually, I love all the Mandalorian episodes and seasons. I've watched them all nine times so far. I sure hope there will be a lot more to come.
