I don't care what was going on in John's life. You don't abandon your child. I totally lost respect for him when he did that. It's obvious in the accounts from EVERYONE who was there at that time, that Yoko was out to rope some big star in. This is the first time I've heard about Marianne Faithful's comment, but with so many saying the same thing, it was obviously true. Yoko stalked John day and night, at his office and his MARITAL home. She would come to Apple asking to see John about funding for her "art". He would not even take her call, just tell staff to tell her that he would NOT see her. Then she would hide behind cars to just "pretend" she was just walking by the moment he left work. Oh, fancy running into you! How many times did John have to say no, to turn her away, to run away from her and tell his chauffeur to "step on it", to ignore her? She was nearly a decade older, well into her 30's while John was still in his 20's. Plus with two husbands, she was no stranger to the strategy of marrying men for what they could do for her. So she just kept right on shamelessly stalking him for a year, even sending those 'think of me in every passing cloud' notes to the Ashram in India. But in the beginning she came off so pitiful. Even Cynthia took pity on her once seeing Yoko standing at the end of HER own marital home driveway in the rain, waiting for John. She asked her to come in. And then the snake left her ring behind and pulled every trick in the hustler book to break up this happy family. You can see the shy role she played to oust Cynthia, all meek and little, singing with John in the "Surprise Surprise" clip. Surprise! Look who I've installed at Kenwood now! It's not Cyn. It's little girl Yoko with a little meek voice -- pay no attention to that witch's hat. Within about 8 years John would sign complete power of attorney over to her. Hustlers don't let grass grow under their feet.

I’ve listened to Cynthia interview around early 2000 and the way she talked I can tell that she is soo beautiful, strong, amazing women. She told the story before she knew John until the day of John death. Before I only knew bout John & Yoko and now I know from the side of her story. There HUGE differences between Yoko & Cynthia. But I like and amazed at Cynthia more than Yoko. How I wish if John & Cynthia never divorced. Btw I more like John loook on during the 60’s era.. goodlooking and damn charming hehe

True, Cynthia was the love of his life. With Cynthia he was the real John -- happy, healthy, and able to power a fabulous career right to the top. With Yoko he was depressed, insecure, anorexic, a skin and bones junkie with rotted teeth that let his career languish for years "just watching the wheels go round" finally handing all decision making authority legally over to her.

She wasted no time after clawing him back from May Pang to get complete Power Of Attorney, so she could write his will, and a couple of years after that he conveniently died. She maneuvered the situation (eg ousting his financial advisor, Seiden, then pushing financial duties onto John which she knew he wouldn't want to do, so then she could "offer" to step in BUT he had to sign over complete POWER OF ATTORNEY. She was so devious, nursing his distrust of everyone but her. And she kept him too drugged out to notice much of anything. Strange days indeed. Most peculiar.

@@christinacobb2053 I just think because of The Beatles and how demanding their careers were, John never really got a chance to know Julian when he was a child. Those first months and years of a child's life are important for bonding and John was already off doing concert dates and traveling when Julian was born. His life and career were very different by the time Sean was born. Doesn't mean he loved Julian any less just because he was home less. In fact, Cyn said he used to write her and talk about how horrible he felt leaving Julian at home while he was off being a Beatle.

Contrary to the belief that John just fell in love with Yoko as soon as he met her and then they lived a fairytale life together, actually John wanted nothing to do with Yoko at first. She had to wage quite a determined campaign just to get him to sleep with her, and even then, for a year she was just the side chick trying to get a toehold in his life by feeding him drugs and stalking him at his marital home, and at work. She'd just show up at his work and most of the time he'd refuse to see her so she'd hang around outside, hide behind a car, then ambush him when he was leaving, pretending to just accidentally be running into him. Extremely devious. She'd go to his and Cynthia's home and just hang around outside. Once it was raining so hard Cynthia took pity on her and invited her in. So Yoko left her ring so she'd have another excuse to get into his home. It wasn't about what John wanted. Yoko forced herself on him, deliberately made Cynthia know about her presence and shattered their relationship, and John just couldn't get rid of her. Classic stalker. Yoko got what she wanted. She went after John tenaciously and relentlessly until John was so sick with drugs that he just gave in. Yoko is a vile woman. He was happy and healthy when with Cynthia. Yoko was a huge mistake.

John said in interviews that no one can control him. That was a bunch of BS which was a typical John interview. All BS. Yoko controlled him along with Heroin and he followed her around like a puppy dog. Moved to NYC because Yoko wanted that and of course paid all the bills. She made a fool of him. Those avant-garde albums they made were garbage to the masses. It doesn't take much talent that's for sure. Then he talked and sang of peace and love. He didn't give a shit about any of that. Heroin was the main cause of his marital problems and didn't help the Beatles at all. Paul was done dealing with the BS and who can blame him. He had no choice but to sue. Better than losing everything they worked very hard for.

Read Cynthia Lennons book about John Lennon and also John Lennon in his own write and you will find a lot of insight in John Lennons mentality. Even If you say Cynthia looked better than Yoko (which is bs itself to say because beauty is subjective) Yoko was more of an artist than Cynthia and had with John more in common at that time. He got death threats just because she was japanese and she was supressed because she was a woman back then. They had the same addiction and fought for peace but this don't mean it wasnt real love. I'm one month younger than Julian (May '63) so I feel a funny connection to Julian, seeing him running around the room with his parents and interesting workmate and partner. And thinking I was doing similar on the other side of the globe. So awesome this lovely visit was not only photographed, but also audio taped.

These pictures are amazing. Young John looking healthy and boyishly handsome. A young and skinny George who was perhaps the coolest Beatle. And beautiful Patti and Cynthia. I imagine Julian felt quite loved and secure at this time. Life sure can have a cruel sense of humor.

mohdazmi10 John and George's friendship died out like the 70s fad like it wasn't a surprise and no one should give a shit. The only thing that helped fuel it better was LSD that they didn't even plan on taking together when Paul took lsd by accident, he at least did it for John, not to be close or have something to relate to John with and being married was probably the only few goods out of it. Lbh, George would have never gotten as close to John under the false pretence of drugs and the pity John laid on him being the youngest and less capable yet of writting songs. These two were Never that close as people think also if they were George would've written John in his bio. Also where the fuck was John after thenothingse to fell out and broke apart? Still trying to get in touch with Paul. George honestly was a throw a way to John. And even if they got together if they still lived it wouldn't nearly be as good as it supposedly once was. Fuck whatever they did together their relationship like these bullshit photo's suggest, to me their friendship was trash and means nothing. John knows he'll never see George again.

Well it doesnt take long to realize, while looking at John and Cynthia and Julian's photos, that these people were a real family. Cynthia was so lovely, and its sickening to me that the devilish snake, Ono it's Yoko! totally destroyed not only the Lennon family and marriage, but she also managed to break up the Beatles, the hag. Not only that, but if John hadnt been at the dark Dakota with that witch, he would still be alive.

Glenn Hudson John was emotionally out of the marriage early on. He obviously was not committed to his first marriage.

Not only was he hated married life with Cynthia, but also Yoko has nothing to do with the Beatles spitting that all falls on Paul trying to make the Beatles his group

In the advent of his drug abuse, his mind was twisted and his reasoning was clouded (and also meeting Yoko in 1966), leading him to make his decision to leave Cynthia and Julian for Yoko. It's a shame. If only things were different.

Great seeing these photos again. The sound track of the Kenwood visit is interesting to listen to. I spend my teen years in my bedroom, privately assembling thousands of photos of the Beatles, When I left for college, I left the binders in my bedroom. When I came back, my mother had thrown them all away. I'm still angry with her for this, and she's been dead since 2004 !!!

Mothers!!!!! My story exactly - except mine was my favourite Australian group, at the time - the Easybeats - and my mum passed away 2001. I still tell people its the one thing l cannot forgive her for - throwing out my Easybeat scrap book!

Actually it goes as far back as '58. She "knew him when he was a starving student."

I always felt this was the period where John looked his best. Unfortunately, he didn't see it that way. He thought he was getting too fat and proceeded to lose weight - and eventually grow a beard. Great pictures and memories of better times.

Judging from the windows, this appears to be John and Cynthia's house in Kenwood, Surrey - a Tudor-styled mansion.

I personally prefer Cynthia to Yoko. Yoko seems overbearing and shrill, where Cynthia was quiet and sweet. I got this impression from things I have read, interviews, and people who know Yoko in New York. I could be way off, but from what I have extrapolated, this is the impression I have been given.

you are wrong. yoko was a interesting intellectual, a daring artist and wanted to make the world a better place. Cynthia was a dullard that bored the shit out of john and that is why he preferred yoko to Cynthia. I get it even if you don't

to None business....Yoko's intellect and so called artistic inclination is irrelevant. Yoko locked her sights on John and pursued him like a viper. She knew full well that he was married with a young son. Cynthia knew John before the Beatles were even famous. They met in Art School. If you want to see what a class act she was, google her interview with Howard Stern. Howard was his typical disgusting self, and Cynthia was able to handle his off color and vulgar questions with kid gloves. She delicately made Howard Stern look like the miscreant that he is. They were together for 6-8 years but their relationship and marriage and son were not to be announced to the general public for publicity reasons. Yoko showed up at Paul's house where John was staying asking for sponsors for some gig she had going. Paul wasn't interested and she can in and asked who else might be there that would be. It just happened to be her target...John. She was relentless. Even when they were in India on their Ashram, Yoko sent John telegrams almost daily. He told Cynthia, his wife, that he needed a separate "hut" to meditate after a few days there. He would sneak off to the village early in the morning to pick up any telegrams that Yoko had sent. She was from a wealthy family and didn't need money, but was disowned by her family. John was a wife beater and adulterer to Cynthia...and neglected Julian. Paul was the one who stayed friends with both Cynthia and John. He would go visit Cynthia and took Julian under his wing. According to Paul, in an interview, he wrote "Hey Jude" for Julian, changing it from "Hey Jules" to not be so overt. John knew exactly what Paul was doing in being kind to his son and ex-wife....just being a decent guy. John pretty much said "more power to you". I think John was an incredible musician but a very trouble and bitter person. His sarcasm and disrespect outwardly to people and fans and the press were just brushed off as being a "Liverpudlian". He really didn't handle being in the public as well as the other three....especially Paul. Paul was not perfect, if anything he was too truthful about his private life. He learned over time to keep a smile on his face and finally make peace with his fame and never belittle anyone, especially a fan.

@@swissuz : Effectively, John was far from perfect, especially with Cynthia. But, why do people like you say he was a wife beater ?? This happened ONLY ONCE ! It was at the beginning of their relationship. Cynthia then left him, it made him deeply unhappy and he promised never to do it again. And... HE NEVER STARTED AGAIN !!! Stop saying crap without knowing ! As for Paul, Jane Asher left him after finding him in bed with another girl. Unbelievable ! They are human !

Easy to see (hear) that George is a couple of years younger than John (and indeed most of the band as the youngest). He sounds like a teenager here (then again John sounds like a slightly older teenager). Brilliant.

These are lovely photos to see, I've never seen them before. 2 of the Beatles (and toddler Julian) and their wives spending time together at Kenwood. Casual conversation, strumming their guitars, the tape recording is quite clear to hear as well . Thank you for posting this!

Cynthia was very beautiful when she was younger. I know we all think WHAT IF JOHN HADN'T.. But I still can't believe Yoko wouldn't allow her to travel with Julian when John murdered in New York. I was his mother. Yoko was out of order to cut John family out like that.

BOLLY WAYNE yoko told Cyn.."Well, its not like were old college roomates".. Given Julian was 17, and he just lost his father in a most horrific way I wouldve been concerned for Julian And his frame of mind..Cyn should've for once said Fuck You Yoko and flew w.her son snd stayed at a hotel on NYC.. That right there shows The only one Yoko cares about is Yoko.

From what I have read from 1st hand accounts, it was all show over JOHN's death. When you keep his whole family away and treat Julian the way she did when he arrived in NYC. It was all about her & then to have a guy move in with her month after his death. SHE IS JUST PLAIN EVIL.

Julian Lennon was on a Canadian talk show once,where constantly referred to YOKO as " her heinie" he also mentioned loving sean as blood, but that Yoko continually tried to put Sean forward as " son of Lennon" Julian was not a kid at the time, the show was the Mike Bullard show maybe it's out there somewhere.
