It was illegal because it wasn't self defence against an armed aggressor nor sanctioned by UN Security Council resolution authorising the use of force by member states.

Trouble is, I’m not a fan. But he’s also remembered for his oratory, his put down of the Americans in that committee meeting was a masterclass. His quickness of mind. He’s the best rhetorical politician in the business. I accept he’s unpalatable, but you simply can’t ignore him. I hope he shakes up Parliament. He’s the only one standing up for Gaza. I thank him for that.

I am a fan, if all he ever did was stand up for Gaza. As it happens he also helped the ANC in their struggle against apartheid, he organized humanitarian aid to sick and starving children in Iraq, when they were suffering under western sanctions, he opposed the Iraq war long before it became fashionable and he has actual battle scars to show for standing up for Palestinian rights long before Israel current murder spree. Besides he is a true socialist, a form of economical leveling the Labour Party once pretended to stand for. Good enough for me. His oratory skills are actually overrated. It is not as hard as one might think, if you tell the truth and know your fact, to come off as a convincing speaker. GG might actually be the first to admit that.
