    I loved this band and remember them very well. Especially to hear my soul brother Sal blowing out means a lot to me and my memory. Also Big George and Billy Higgins I was friends with.

    I’ve been looking for years for this performance in its entirety, since seeing it on the BBC in about 1985 I think! Thank you so much for posting it. It is absolutely brilliant

    Hi - Yes it is brilliant :-) I was big fan of George and the Octet back in the day.. The Montreux set was 1hour 20 mins, and yes I do have the whole concert ...     Great Nistico who looks at the harmo structure, then plays by ear, like the jazz giants. Classical problem with Harold Maburn who hit the keyboard like a true beast, with a bass overmixed, the sound is awfull.

    My experience of those who mix the sound at jazz festivals (and it's considerable) is that the overwhelming majority of them have absolutely no idea what they're doing... Regrettably we then have to try to deal with what we are given
