He actually does a whole routine in this same special where he talks about "Things you never hear." eg. "After i shove this hot poker up my ass, I'm going to chop my dick off!" You never hear that! George Carlin was probably the first person to ever put those words together in that particular order!

@@Breadman-gc8eo Heck, I think it's best way to approach comedy, and especially satire, in general. Because even before cancel culture, some people used to get pissed off at jokes or feel bad. It's understandable but people need to understand that it's not like comedians are trying to say that the things they are joking about is okay. Well, not every comedian at least. So this is the best way to approach it in my opinion without most people getting offended.

as a rape survivor who’s slowly coming to terms with my story, being able to laugh about it, strangely enough, makes me feel so empowered edit: thank you all for the feedback and your own personal insights. i, too, understand that the line between humor and bigotry/ignorance seems thin, but i think the intention behind jokes like these matters a lot. besides, it's more so that- joking about something suddenly points out the absurdity of smallness of said thing. it gives a perspective of, "hey. maybe i can move on from this". i also want to address some of the fellow survivors who are reading this or are in my replies. bless your soul, and i hope you grieve and process as you need to. reach out to a friend. invest time into yourself and your hobbies. eat well and take as much rest as you need. you got this, and you can get through this!

He then went back and re-narrated the first two seasons. I think this was just the US episodes. He was a great narrator. I have to find that overdub video. The problem with using the umbrella term “feminist” is that feminism has split off into so many different and even contradictory factions. There are libertarian sex-positive feminists who believe the choice to dress “slutty” is up to the woman and that having sex is a woman’s freedom to choose (libertarian feminism), then there are sex-negative feminists that think free sex and slutty clothing is simply the patriarchy objectifying women (authoritarian feminism, stereotypical SJWs, etc). There’s feminists who believe women should reject the stereotype of being a housewife and that they should go out and get a job. Then there’s feminists who believe it should be the woman’s choice to pursue whatever lifestyle she chooses for herself, be that a housewife or an office worker, or even a blue-collar worker.

Certainly that hold true in the past, but does it anymore? In the west. You can agree with feminist philosophers, like Simon De Beauvoir (might have spelled it wrong), keeping in mind of course the historical context in which she wrote (in this case Nazi occupied France), without endorsing the insanity of today.

The EXACT same thing happened to me, and I'm not making it up. Tho its very hard for most to believe since I'm a dude :( But I'm over it now :) Yet I think (and always thought) Carlin is hilarious in this segment because of the outrageousness of the context. Had he made a reference to a rape case it would be a little different tho. I also know the difference between what is entertainment and what is not. Carlin is PERFORMING here. It's only entertainment, if you take it seriously, the joke is on YOU. It's ALL about perspective. Horrific things happen to everyone around the globe. YOUR horrific event might not be as bad as someone else's horrific event. Read "A Child Called It." The guy's own mom burned him repeatedly and he was like six years old, and I'm bitching about my drunken buddy threatening me to have sex with him at knifepoint? Both events suck, but I can replace my buddies. I can ditch someone who I don't want to hang out with anymore. Can't do that with family unless you are 18+. It's a bitter pill to swallow but yes there are people who have it WORSE than YOU. One of my best friends is autistic and he has epilepsy so he is limited to working part time and taking the bus and walking to get around. People don't want to be near him because of how introverted and socially unaware that society has trained him to be that way (a neat little thing society likes to do with anyone with an 120+ IQ btw. Yeah. We practice brain shaming, yet strive to be smarter. Wrap your head around that). I'm a neurotypical with ZERO health problems, perfectly able in EVERY way. What the FUCK should I be complaining about?

Tell you what you can say and what you can’t say... Government wants to control information and control language because that’s the way you control thought. That was the great thing about George Carlin, his jokes actually got you to think. The things he said, even the parts that were not jokes like the segments you pointed out here, underlined his whole argument. His comedy routines were essentially well argued essays with solid thesis laced with humor, usually of the crude variety.

My problem with feminism is that it's intellectually dishonest. Feminists like to parrot the "feminism is for everyone" thing by making it out to be about equality and such. Think about this: The very word "feminist" implies something skewed toward the feminine, toward women. And you see it in feminist dogma. If you truly care about and want equality for the sexes, you should identify yourself as a humanist. Anyone who subscribes to "feminism" as an ideology is either someone who supports feminine supremacy or someone who doesn't understand exactly what they are supporting. Both options are equally disturbing.

Kingy King Exactly the problem. It's equality, _for women_. *_For. Women._* Such a simple matter that it's a wonder so few people see it. Feminism is biased towards women. Biased. Towards ONE group of people. How such an ideology can claim to be for the benefit of all while concerning itself exclusively with the needs and wants of _one_ group is such an overtly flawed notion as to be laughable. Feminism in a modern western setting is little more than a bad joke.

Androxean Yeah, we're a bunch of psychos when it comes to rape. And when it comes to nudity and kinky sex, a lot of people are a bunch of puritan jackasses. It's not too bad where I live (Oregon) but I hear a lot of the united states is just filled with crybabies. Then at the same time, violence doesn't phase us as much. I'd say, don't let either bother you. Tell rape jokes, violent jokes, etc. Like, "How many cops does it take to screw in a light bulb? None, they just beat the room for being black." We've all heard that one, but that shit should be fine everywhere. Everyone's a teenage girl, I swear.

Androxean Europe certainly doesn't approve of sexual violence, but regular sexuality isn't as frowned upon here as I hear it is in 'murica. In Germany, it's perfectly legal to be nude in public, for example, and even when it's just tits on the TV we don't get scared of it. As far as I can tell, sex is talked about rather openly, and the fact that teenagers have sex even at 13, 14 years is well-known. Well, as far as I know, sex education in school is also mandatory, so... I wouldn't say it's the opposite, but Europe is certainly more open about sex.

The soul of comedy is exaggeration and amorality. A comedian can make jokes about the Holocaust without being a Nazi. He can tell rape jokes while thinking rape is an abhorrent crime. He can make fun of Muslims while having no ill will toward them. What PC people need to realize is that comedy doesn't necessarily reflect the true opinions of the comedians. Just because I joke about Dahmer doesn't mean I'm in favor of anything he did.

Carlin would say the most inflammatory things just to get his audience to examine their beliefs. He could be the world's' biggest asshole, just to make people see how hypocritical their beliefs were. It is clear to me that he only half believed everything he was saying. Most of it went over 85% of the people's heads and they thought he was being completely serious 100% of the time. He was much more complex than most people realize. If you don't agree then you must believe that, when George proposed that you use the same brush to clean your armpits, crotch, asshole and teeth , as he did in his "Germs" routine (also in the "Doin' It Again" show), that he was being serious !

"I also look at war itself a little differently from most. I see it largely as an exercise in dick-waving. That's really all it is: a lot of men standing around in a field waving their dicks at one another. Men, insecure about the size of their penises, choose to kill one another. That's also what all that moron athlete bullshit is all about, and what that macho, male posturing and strutting around in bars and locker rooms represents. It's called 'dick fear.' Men are terrified that their dicks are inadequate, and so they have to 'compete' in order to feel better about themselves. And since war is the ultimate competition, essentially men are killing one another in order to improve their genital self-esteem." - Imagine if this was posted to a random Tumblr blog with no context. Would you even know its part of a George Carlin routine?
