This man was a brilliant player. To me, nobody better. When Pele comes out and says that he's seen the greatest player in George, you know how great he was.

Gone but not forgotten. George was in a league of his own. The greatest player that ever lived, bar none. A genius. Blessed to have seen him.

A football genius with charisma in bucket loads... There will only ever be one George Best...a legend in every sense of the word!

He wasn't a footballer. He was a magical elegant graceful vision on muddy English winter fields. He didn't run. he glided and floated. he didn't dribble. He danced swerved and feinted. he didn't kick the ball. He caressed it. He was the Beauty in the game. The Jogo Bonito. He was by a mile the greatest of all.

The complete footballer. As a boy brought up in Belfast during his greatest period I was able to identify with him in many ways. He was playing the game with Manchester United as though he was still on the streets of Belfast

No question for me the greatest footballer there has ever been.

@@Mikeb1001 I am assuming you mean the Brazillion Ronaldo? Perhaps, he was a great both footed player, with amazing pace, a great shot and was a great dribbler. However, I think Messi is far more similar to Best (although Best was better with his weaker foot)

And that includes every sport and the world of show business. George said the floodlights were is spot light and the park was is stage! My idol from the age of 9 and I’m 65 now.Only saw him play once but and he was god to me.

My respect for one of world top players! Big hug fans, from Spain we respect the good players like George..

There have been many, many great players in football but has there ever been anyone who has been loved by men and women equally as George Best was ? watched him play while sitting on gramps knee when i was six, he was an inspiration for us all

i watched his funeral tho im a scouser.....one of the greatest ever.....like connie Nielsen said in the film Gladiator thats playing in this.....remember him. there wont be another......

George Best, simply the best! During my school days in the 70s in a faraway country Malaysia, our main hobby is kicking a football.Every one of us wants to emulate George Best ! Mind you those were the days we were able to watch English football on replay only once a week !

One of the saddest history in the football...

As a wee boy growing up in Glasgow as a Rangers fan, George Best was my favourite footballer even above my beloved Rangers team, and he still is to this day and i'm now 57, he will never be bettered, forget Pele Messi ,Ronaldo, it was the Belfast boy, god bless him, only Gazza and Laudrup come close
