Will drinking straight from the bottle while looking disgusted, confused and just fucking done with everything is the most relatable thing I've ever seen

The film was written off as an offensive adaptation of Dr Seuss' seminal work, but I think the film has been vastly misunderstood. The film is a deconstruction of a mentally ill Cat man, struggling to come to terms with his problems. He invades the lives of two children hoping to help them, but instead he nearly destroys their lives - this is a game changing moment for the Cat, who then changes his ways and helps the kids overcome their adversity whilst he overcomes his mental illness. The humour, which was panned in 2003, was ahead of it's time - with the film portraying dark and sarcastic behavior along with clever innuendo, which would have become memeable had been released today. Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography is up there with his most acclaimed work like The Tree Of Life and The Revenant, perfectly capturing the madness of the Cat via precise framing, projecting a sense of unease on the audience. Bo Welch's energetic direction evokes shades of both Wes Anderson and David Lynch, creating psychedelic imagery which matches perfectly with the film's quirky yet almost sinister production design. And to top all off, Mike Myers delivers an Oscar worthy performance as the Cat, perfectly capturing the confused insanity of a mentally ill anthropomorphic cat who can't deal with his problems so he just creates chaos as a coping mechanism, all through that heavy but beautifully applied costume. A modern masterpiece.

Me and my mates have an annual challenge were we see how many times we can watch the cat in the hat in class, and we still think it’s the greatest movie of all time. It’s gotten to the point where we can quote large parts of the movie perfectly

2:45 Ford custom made like almost 100 or so of those cars just for this movie which is why Alec Baldwin is driving a Ford Thunderbird and they also had to go out into the desert and basically build an entire town just to make this movie. Complete with fully operational plumbing, facilities, and electrical components for maximum realism. The cat in the hat’s car is functional and is driven by a person sitting in a compartment in the back of the vehicle over the back wheel. There is a monitor so that the driver can see where they are going. Also some of the instruments that are used in the sound track are instruments that were very weird looking and unique to try and capture the goofy feel and stature of cat in the hat. And there is a lot more.

Fun Fact: this isn’t the best movie Alec Baldwin has ever appeared in, he also appeared in Thomas and the Magic Railroad sometime in the ninetys.

Diesel 10 in that movi3 terrified me! The scene where he threatens Alec Baldwin, the part where he tries to kill James and junior and the chase scene with him, Thomas and Lady! Loved that film as a child! 😍😭

I’ve never seen will with so little enthusiasm and energy. I was hoping the alcohol would help him perk up but he wasn’t even drinking any lol

The Cat in the Hat is literally Mike Myers trying to tell adult jokes in a cat costume but realizing there are kids on set so he has to stop.

Will looks like he’s about to cry under halfway through.

For some reason I was terrified of this movie as a child. I don’t know why because it’s beautiful
