Don't get me wrong, I think that recent updates like 2.1 and 2.2 have made the game undoubtedly better. Levels are more works of art then ever before. But I think that in the absolute freedom the recent updates have given us, we've all but lost the unique culture GD once had. A culture of creativity fostered by restrictions; of everyone learning the editor alongside everyone else, before being thrust into another update only months later. I feel that 2.1 was the first update to be fully mastered. And that's oddly beautiful to me, even if it is just a three dollar mobile game.

Good list overall. I think id change 1.9 from toxin lab II to bloodbath or death moon and 2.2 from subwoofer lullaby to chromaside, flipswap factory or semiquaver. 2.1 could be a lot of things really. My go to options are WHAT, dream flower, white space, castlemania,dark odyssey, glorious fortress ,storming summit and edge of destiny (and maybe emerald realm)

@@NightytimeGaming on the one hand recency bias has stopped being that relevant (glorious fortress is significantly newer than change of scene) but i think it’s the ispy problem it was EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME. which for some reason didn’t happen nearly as much with levels like white space which is, in my opinion, the _definitively better level._

@@Capybaka-wu7dsi think white space is the better level. phenomenal decoration (that now actually runs not terribly), an actually _really good story_ with _INSANE_ attention to detail (for example, almost invisible code that flickers in a couple of seconds, that actually means something significant, it’s genuinely like the fnaf of geometry dash) and also legitimately killed several of xendergame’s devices. i think that bli is a fantastic creator, but i don’t think he’s one of the best, because unlike for example people like xendergame, knots, jamattack, funnygame, serponge, culuc, krmal, neigefeu, galvatron, crohn, spu7nix, overdefo, (i could go on forever), or even the wildly overrated jonathongd, bli still hasn’t actually *_changed the scene”_* if you will. i think what separates the best creators from the just amazing ones is actually changing something, making your own style. for example, culuc’s style could be described as “realistic”, but in my opinion that’s really inaccurate. culuc’s style _is culuc style_ but bli? bli’s just… a really good art creator. maybe the best. but not one of the best overall.

You can really tell how much of the GOAT funnygame was from how his levels pioneered themed levels and did it better than everyone else at the time

I’m gonna keep it real, I think I joined back in 2.1 and quit before the 2.11 update, but I used to play about 8 or 7years ago at the age of 8 or 9, and quit when I was like 10 or 11. I wasn’t even aware of a 2.2 update or heard about it, but I played it on my crusty dusty musty kindle fire. And I remember back then being crazy about playing fingerdash and watching 8-but Ryan and thinking “I’m never going to be as good as him”. I came back maybe 7 or 8 months ago, discovered a 2.2 update, but then realized the first thing leaked about it was 3 YEARS AGO and thought maybe the game died off and there was something from robtop saying 2.2 is cancelled, but then I just discovered this guy just never rlly leaks anything. 6 months later the update comes out at the middle of night for me. But this video brings little nostalgia to me as I remember none of these levels, I was never a FULLY PLEDGED and SERIOUS gd player. But seeing this makes me notice how far we’ve come since even early 2.1/11, and I’m proud to be a part of this great community of nice people (and honestly, this is the BEST community I’ve ever seen, and I mean I’m coming from the ROBLOX community, I’d know). But now I’m on PC, and LOVE this game. But to make this comment not so deep one part of this video made me laugh: my inner demons talking to me be like: 5:25

I wouldve picked Dastardly for 2.2, although it isn’t the best level in the world, it’s a good introduction to quite a few 2.2 features, another level could be that level that recently started trending, Logic, literally an edit made in the GD editor

On funnyfame's holiday level there is a speed portal and speed portals were usually added in 1.7 so the level was made in 1.7 not 1.6 or im wrong and it just got updated

Love how The Nightmare has future features like the deco, blue and pink pads and orbs, and SPEED PORTALS

The best in 1.9 was "illusion" made by a non gd account. It featured moving abjects and crazy stuff.

2.1 is probably the one that is the hardest to decide but I think castlemania is the best for 2.1 and gd as a whole

Mr Krisz I just can't help but think the 1.5 and 1.6 levels feel off bc I'm seeing stuff from 1 update later on those 2 levels you put, Crazy Bolt seems to have some objects from the 1.6 which you can see them in a level like Electroman Adventures and Clubstep, and Funnygame Holiday has speed portals which are only present after Electrodynamix which is a level from 1.7

Me personally I think End of The World by XRadian is the best 1.9 level. It’s not too popular, but the scenery in the level is absolutely tremendous.

Change of scene is better than What in my opinion, let me explain before an angry commenter comments on this. Change of scene was built in less than 40 hours. And has 8 minutes worth of decoration. What was made in 9 months with nearly 2 minutes of decoration. While the ladder shows the limit of the 2.1 editor, change of scene shows nothing but perfection.

Yeah it is. Most of the level was made in 2.1 so I decided not to put it as the best 2.2 level. But I also like that level.

Not sure about WHAT, sure it’s impressive knowing it was made in Geometry Dash, but looking at it outside of the perspective of a Geometry Dash player, it’s just a blender animation, there are other master pieces in 2.1 I’m sure would suit this video better.

I like the mention of Crystal Cave as the best 1.1 level, it is perhaps the first attempt at a themed level in existence. Also, the inclusion of The Nightmare as the best ''1.2'' level is a bit misleading considering it got an upgrade years later. My personal favourite inclusion is Crazy Bolt as the best 1.5 level. If Crystal Cave was the first _attempt_ at a theme in GD, then Crazy Bolt was the first _fully fledged_ themed GD level. Also, my personal opinions for best levels of the latest ones would have been: 1.9 - I agree with Toxin Lab, but I think Death Moon could have been a good frontrunner too. 2.0 - Either Blast Furnace, Fusion II or Osiris could have been my picks. 2.1 - This one's a tough one, I have SO many good candidates - The Eschaton by Xender Game, Mastergame or Castlemania by Serponge, some of the HHyper's levels... But I think I'd go with _Floating Outskirts_ by YoReid. Whilst not as technically and computationally impressive as WHAT or even HOW, it is definitely a much better overall ''level'' (more like an entire platforming GAME). The sheer awesomeness of that experience is hard to convey with words... So tl;dr, exceptional level and also would work very well as a ''how far we've come'' endoff to 2.1.

In my opinion -Sirius-, Mountain King, or Coaster Mountain should've been on this list because -Sirius- and Mountain King are both one of the most influential levels, while Coaster Mountain is the first level to ever be Legendary-rated.

Here are some of my ideas I joined in 2.1 so here are my opinions 2.1- emerald realm what is 3d its amazing but it has 0 deco I still think its amazing but emerald realm is better 2.2-or the gungeon but probably not when there is end ever flipswap factory(really good idea) and night plus ii(the fnaf gane in gd) and also speed portals were added in electrodynamix and electrodynamix was added in 1.7 right? Because you said funnygame Holliday is in 1.6 but it has speed portals

Imo change of scene is the best 2.1 level if you include deco, gameplay, song, and theming, what, while being rly cool and different, doesnt hit with me on a gameplay or song standpoint like change of scene, other than the famous level montage, but still, easily a top 5 2.1 level
