Geology of Sunset Crater, Arizona

Glad to have you studying with me! I have more content in the works and I hope you'll enjoy it. For those that are interested, the best textbook out there is this one: amzn.to/47VNed8. However, it's a little old now (two of the authors have passed away) and if you prefer a newer textbook, I would recommend this one: amzn.to/45UFDcR
For other introductory geology lectures: • Introduction to Geology
For other geology virtual field trips: • Geology Field Trips
Video discusses the main Aa lava flow of Sunset Crater National Monument, Arizona as well its texture and mineralogy. Virtual field trip to Sunset Crater was filmed in July of 2020.

Jim. Thanks for doing this. I was at Sunset Crater in 1991. Wife and I were slack jawed at the amount of cinder and basalt. Back then it was inferred this volcano was the cause of the depopulation of the natives people further south near Sedona . Any evidence for that firmed up in the last thirty years? It would be good to know.
